Another blind date had fallen through the previous night. One of many for that matter. To the point that he debated on letting his friends know that this was all pointless and setting him up was doomed to fail from the get go so they shouldn’t waste their breath or time any longer. It wasn’t that he thought of himself as undesirable - though the small voice told him otherwise in the back of his mind, which he was pointedly ignoring right now. No. That wasn’t it. He was just busy. Busy being successful. Busy with his job. Busy with school. Busy with having a life that took all his time, energy, and focus. A boyfriend was just not in the cards. A boyfriend hadn’t been in his cards though, since, well --
“Blaine?” Kurt practically drops his coffee in his hand upon turning from the gentle touch, but luckily his reflexes are much quicker than that and he manages to not make a complete fool out of himself. Almost. Standing there, gaping like a fish for a little too long didn’t exactly save him.
He’s unsure if he believes what his eyes are clearly showing him. The usual bowtie and slicked back hair, all puppy dog innocence radiating off the man in front of him was very much real. How long had it been since he saw Blaine? His brain blanked. How long had he been doing anything? What was he doing here?
Reality slaps him back in the face, knocking him down to Earth, and he feels his face pull into a smile. A surprised smile, a little shell shocked, but a smile.
“Blaine!” He repeats, gaze moving up and down the other to take in what he was seeing before invading, unable to stop himself in a one arm hug, as he’s still holding his coffee in the other and the near spill experience was making him hyper focus on it. “Sorry, hi. You caught me by surprise there.” And that was putting it lightly.
