Now you see me... Now you don't

So.. I recently went and saw the movie 'Now You See Me' starring Jessie Eisenbery from The Social Network, the lovely Isla Fisher, Morgan Freeman, Mark Ruffalo, Dave Franco and Woody Harrelson just to name a few (IMDB, 2013).

Personally I thought it was great, the story progressed well and I remained intrigued throughout the entire film never knowing which way the plot would turn, and I won't lie it had a good twist at the end. However, it seems as though the rest of the world doesn't particularly agree with me (my boyfriend included). So when I say in my title 'Now you don't' what I'm actually referring to is a return or profit. 

Mackay (2013) has stated that it becoming a trend that many movies over the past year are beginning to cost their financiers rather than earn them money. With movies such as White House Down, Green Lantern and The Lone Ranger actually costing more money than profits brought in, what is that saying about our movie industry. Realistically they were a flop, I will be vary interested to see the results for Now You See Me later this year. 

Mackay (2013) goes on to say and to what I can agree with there are a number of variable factors contributing to this growing economic loss in the movie and entertainment industry and that's things such as ticket pricing... I mean jesus $18 to see a movie c'mon that's ridic. Myself just as many others are often waiting for DVD release or obtaining movies in shall I say 'other methods'.

Overall I would rate the movie 4/5 give it a go, drop into Myer Centre or Indroopilly during the week for cheap student tickets if you are registered for Cine Buzz you get a discount I think it's only $11 or something and discount candy bar.. and let me know what you think.

I won't lie Barry was right in his lecture cruising is one of the greatest experiences you can have and I've been lucky enough to go on two so far.

Imagine a 14 story hotel, filled with clubs, restaurants, bars, a cinema, pool halls, table tennis, 3 swimming pools, a running track and a view for miles.. but wait it also floats. The answer to this is P&O's Pacific Dawn.

This beast of a boat will change your world. I'm talking an 8 course meal every night for dinner, a personal maitre de who looks after you the entire cruise, orders your meal to your every specific; I'm talking omlettes for breakfast with bacon cheese tomato and herbs and if I change my mind and want pancakes that's fine. Now don't be surprised that you'll enjoy this food, the only thing you won't enjoy is the ten kilos you've put on over the course of 12 days.

Things to do... wondering if you would ever get bored on a cruise? I would say it is almost impossible. There are $4 cocktails.. 4 nights clubs, 5 bars, a show every night, bingo, DIY jewellery making classes, and entire level of the boat devoted to shopping, a day spa.... and the list goes on.

Let me just say one last thing, if you haven't been on one I would highly recommend it.. only drama I had was I get really badly sea sick *whoops*

Gamer's Girlfriend

So I might just be the best girlfriend on the planet. Went and pre-ordered my boyfriend a copy of the limited edition Grand Theft Auto 5 which will hit stores the morning of September 17th.

I'm not much of a gamer myself, however, the GTA franchise has to be one of my favourites. "A period of competition or challenge" (Duncan, 2013) is what I know I will have to put up with every night for I'd say at least 6 weeks come September 17.. depending on when Chris get's the game completed, achievements and all. 

Xbox 360 is his console of choice, and along with this $129.95 limited edition game I've also ordered the limited edition guide setting me back a further $49.95 courtesy of Ebay Games Toombul.

"For the first time the game features not one but three would be hereos" creating one intertwined story line. Rockstar have outdone themselves giving gamers the ultimate experience reconstructing the game world to be "beautiful, massive and diverse" (Rockstar, 2013) with spectacular detail and thought put into the Southern California locations. 

I must admit after watching the trailer, I'm pretty keen to sit in on the action for this one (at least for the first week or so). It was the customization of the cars that really got me in (I'm more of a Forza or Grid kind of girl) Although I'll admit the choice in weaponry has definitely improved.. reminds me a little of COD. There's no surpirse for me that the industry just keeps growing worth over $10 billion in 2009 (Duncan, 2013) what can we expect to see in the future... I'm not sure but I'm definitely excited.

Just a quick recap for anyone who missed this year's origin final.

"NRL BROADCAST DEAL SEES RUGBY LEAGUE SURPASS AFL AS THE MOST POWERFUL SPORTING CODE IN THE COUNTRY" (Duncan, 2013) and this couldn't be more true than when it comes to the winter time series of State of Origin. 

"The 2013 State of Origin series can best be described as a battle between a team that has forgotten how to win, versus a team that has forgotten how to lose." (Ryan O'Connell, 2013)

Final Game was played July 17 in Sydney, and what a nail biter it was. I originally went in thinking this might be the year to break the drought, with one all NSW had a fighting chance.

After a grueling first half, our (QLD) defense was a side to be reckoned with. Things were looking positive but nonetheless stressful. In the end NSW played a good game and thanks to them a streaker stopped us from scoring an additional try. We were saved with a final field goal in the last two minutes to get us over the line and DOMIN8 at origin level.

UP THE MIGHTY MAROONS

 I mean really.. how could we lose? We have four of the top five highest paid players in the entire league Slater, Thurston, Smith and Inglis (Duncan, 2013). In the end NSW really didn't have a chance if you ask me.

TVD - Season 5 new realease date

*OMG* totally fan girling right now with the announcement of season 5 of The Vampire Diaries (my favourite show of all time) starting a week early.

Now to anyone who is reading this and isn't familiar with the show, we as fans are familiar with what seems like a lifetime of waiting between seasons, heck even mid season break is too long. One less week is a little bit of heaven to my ears.

After seasons fours cray cray final I am sooooo excited to see Katherine as a human not to mention DELENA (Damon and Elena Relationship)!!! Thank jesus for that we have been waiting sooo long for it to be real. Julie Plec (writer) pleaseeeee just give us one season of DEX  (you get my drift..) and DELENA goodness before we get back to boring old Stefan (slightly less hot Salvatore Brother).

I must admit though, with the digital revolution and constant evolution for consumption methods and platform (Duncan, 2013) in nowadays I actually watch all my "tv" shows online, because let's face who is actually home at the time they're on... plus I hate waiting for Australia to catch up, online means I get to watch same day as the US.

For anyone who hasn't watched the show you have until October 5th to catch up. Watch below and see what it is all about. Pure entertainment at its finest, a collaboration of teenage love stories, the supernatural and oh so much drama when two brothers are torn between the same girl (CWTV, 2013). Personally I would say this is one TV series where its adaption is a hell of a lot more interesting than the books.
