Letterman asks for Brian Williams for one of his final shows

In 2013 Brain Williams went on ‘Late show’ and told his story about his experiences in Iraq. This was a vastly different story he had said in the past and in investigation of his reports were then put under investigation and he was suspended from NBC. As Letterman is leaving his show later this year it seems he would like to mend fences and go out on a good note. He has asked both Brian Williams and Jay Leno, with whom he has had a very public dispute with, to be his guests for some of his final shows. Letterman is a class act and it will be interesting to see if either one will accept his olive branch before he leaves the show.

Internet shows are awesome

Internet shows are getting very good. I got into them when ‘Community’ moved from network to the internet and started venturing out into other internet only shows. they are actually original ideas which is refreshing compared to what is on network TV. A show I am really getting into is ‘Other Space’ which is basically an entire show that is a ‘Star Trek’ parody. A group of misfits go on a voyage into space with the intent to map the universe,but get sucked into another demission. This could very clearly never happen on real TV. The internet is giving people who like weird shows ,like me, a place to watch what they want to watch

Jeopardy renewed for two more seasons

Both Jeopardy and Wheel of fortune have been renewed for two more seasons. This raises the question, will these sort of shows ever be cancelled? they do not have great rating and it appear that the only reason they still exist is because they are increasable cheap to produce. The networks could try out other daytime game-shows to try to get people interested in them but they seem not to care enough it to try to get people to watch. So if they are just going to accept that they are not going to cancel the  show why only renew them for two years? If they know it is going to be around just say it is going to be around and let them plan years in advance of what they are going to do.

There are no new shows on TV any more

there are original shows on TV any more. Everything is either a reality show or a spin off of a previously popular movie or TV show. From ‘Better Call Saul‘, a spin off of ,Breaking Bad or and of the many of the Marvel spin-offs. It seems TV execs are unwilling to invest in new idea that have the possibility of being unnoticed by the public. If people don’t know a show is running it is bound to fail, and airing a spin-off of a show that is successful will ensure public knowledge of the show.  So what does that mean for TV? If TV cannot broaden its demographic internet show will surely fill the gap and grow in popularity. Soon the majority of popular shows will be internet shows

John Oliver is a better Jon Stewart

John Oliver who started out at ‘The Daily Show’ has recently been given his own show on HBO doing a very similar thing. The fake new program show covers current event in a comedic way. Stewart invented this kind of show but being on cable has always limited what he could do. liver does not have these restrictions and only worries about being funny. HBO’s hands off policy and Oliver’s fresh take on satirical news makes it a true contender for ‘The Daily Show’

what is happening on ‘The 100′?

This show seems to just keep getting weirder and weirder. It started out with a fairly strange concept and i thought that was it but it keeps going and going. The show starts out 200 years after a nuclear holocaust wiped out all but a few people who managed to make it to a space station. Then to conserve oxygen they send 100 criminals back to earth to see if it is habitable. That is when things get weird. It turns out this all just a lie and the show completely changes. They are actually running out of oxygen and they got rid of them to save everyone on the ship. The show keeps getting weirder and weirder and I don’t know how they keep doing it.

‘Last Man On Earth’ Is the best new show

This show is the first origanal thing on TV in a long time. The show starts out with a man shortey after a virus has killed everyone around him. This is clearly not the typical setup for a comedy but Will Forte, the star of the show, is able to keep the show incredably funny. At the end of the first episode as he is finally given to being crazy he meets a women, Kristen Shaw, nad set up the show for a very good comedy duo.This is setting up to be one of the most funny and origanal comedies in a long time,

What was Robert Durst thinking?

If you were a suspect in three murders would you do a documentary about them? That is exactley what Robert durst did in the HBO show ‘The Jinx’. Right from the beginning you can tell that he is a very creepy guy. He seems arrogant and unconserned with the fact that three poeple around him have died , including his wife and his best friend of twenty years. even if he did not kill them he still should have some emotional responcet to these events. To top everything off to end the series when he was in the basthroom still miked he mutters “i killed them all, of course”. this seems to be a clear confetion and since it aired the police have arrested Robert Durst.

Does watching violent shows make people violent?

A large group of people believe that watching violent media makes people more violent. They believe it desensitizes the watcher toward violent acts and make people more willing to commit violent acts. The opposition does not think that violent shows have any effect on peoples actions, and that any correlation between the violent acts and people who watch violent shows is that people who are already violent like violent shows.

Personaly Right now I am more prone to the side that says that says it has no effect. Adults should be smart enough to know not to do violent acts no matter the influences they are under.

TV shows based off Comic books

For a long time now movies have been being made based off of comic books. Recentley however, this trend has made its way to TV . Marvel curentley has two shows running, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and Agent Carter. These are very large buget shows based off of very sucesfull comic book stories. Making show based off already sucessful stories is a very easy way for TV executives to make a sucessful show. I expect this trend to continue for at as long as they can keep easily making them.

How did Arrested Development get cancelled

I jsut started Arrested development on Hulu and i can't belive it has taken me this long. My riends got me onto it and it did not disappoint. It is clever and not affraid to do thing tha tothers shows will not do, like haveing a main character get his hand cut off. TV shows now will not comit to jokes that extend outside an episode and they went for it and had a character not have a hand for two and a half seasons. Arrested Developement is the type of comedy  that comes when people just try to be funny and not care what TV show are supposed to be like

The end of Parks and Rec

The series finally of the NBC show Parks and Recreaction was on tuesday. It was a great ending to a great show, this is something that seems to becomin rarer and rarer. In the past great network shows have ended in, pretentious, self loving half hours of just terible TV. The trend started with The Sapranos where the screen simply faded to black, then the worst of them all was Lost in which both the story was terrible and felt like they had no idea how to end a show. From then on it seemed every sucesful show ended with a terrible end. The end of Parks and Rec seemed to have avoided the curse of the terrible ending with a great end.

What's up with Brian Willaims

The face of NBC News , Brain Williams is under investigation for lieing in his reporting over the last ten years behind the NBC News desk. The investigation came after he changed his story over what happened when in a helicopter in Iraq. He origanly reported it was a three helicopter convoy and on ofthe others got hit by enemy fire, then in a recent interview he said he was in the one that got hit. In another case he reported swallowing flood water from hurricane Katrina and becoming sick, how or why he swallowed flood water I don't know, but FEMA reports that there was no flooding in teh area he was when he said that it happened.As the investigation continues we will see what other thing\s the once trusted newsman lied about.

SNL 40

On Sunday Saturday Night Live celebrated its fourtieth aniversery. It was three hour of the greatest living comedians alive. Eddie Murphie made his first apperance back on SNL in over thirty years. The three hour special had a mix of new sketches and video of great things from the past. It was almost overwelming the level of comedic talent that was their. The SNL 40th aniversery event was possible the best three hour of comedy ever on tv.

Six Season and a Movie

Community a former NBC and now Yahoo Screen comedy will be comeing back for its profisied sixth season. early in season three, community made a predictionthey would go six seasons and then make a movie. This always seemed optimistic, the show always had low rating and NBC seemed to always have it out for the cult comedy. After season five NBC had finally had enough and canceled the show and all seemed lost, but at the last minute Yahoo screen jumped in and rescued the show. This could mark a turning point in how TV works. Much of Community's audiance has always been young veiwers who watch online, and not at the given air date. This move could start an exodus of semi-popular shows from TV to the much safer online audiance. There are less rules or ratings online, so the shows can go as long or as shot as they want will whatever language they want. It will be very interesting to see how Community handles the purley internet audiance.

Silicon Valley Back For Season Two

The hit HBO comedy will be back in April. The show portrays a group of geeks who formed a tech startup in Silicon Valley. The show is capitalizing on the success of Big Bang Theory and nerd humor, but being on HBO can go into more adult stories. People were questioning if the show would come back or not since the actor playing a key character, the billionaire investor, died. How they will handle that in the show and what will happen in Season two is something that can't be mist.

Is Jon Stewart Leaving the Daily Show?

After 17 years it seems Jon Stewart will be leaving the Daily Show. Jon has led the way in the comedic news programs. His smar tyet sinical show paved the way for Colbert and others to have comedy shows about serious issues. Conedy Central had not yet desided if they are going to replace him or end the show, but it will certainly be the end of an era.
