KYA: Who else would have the luck to move into an apartment right across the hall from her high school girlfriend?
KYA: I need a drink.
rose-lindsey:
In case you’re wondering (you weren’t), I had the crappiest NYE last night. I mean, it wasn’t that crappy seeing as I finished two medium pizzas, wings and a bottle of Jack Daniels by myself, but ah! Semantics, am I right? Anyway, last night sucked but I’m hoping that this year isn’t indicative of that. If I’m going to be eating good food all year, then that’s fine.. but everything else? Nope. Nope, none. Nada. I don’t want it.
Anyway, I’m all about stories so I’d love to hear what happened during everyone else’s NYE! Tell me all the nitty and gritty details. If I get enough funny stories, I might make an article about it! Maybe. I don’t know. This is me grasping at straws for article ideas.
What happened? Pizza and jack sounds like a winning combination though.
nadiaamartinez:
If I have to hear one more time from an inebriated white man that “WOW LUCKY IS SUCH A GREAT NAME FOR A BURLESQUE BAR LOL WHAT ARE MY ODDS OF GETTING LUCKY WITH YOU TONIGHT SWEET CHEEKS?” then I’m going to take my tips and choke him with a stack of twenty dollar bills.
That’s disgusting. Next time you’re working let me know, I’ll come in and and whoever says something like that can get cuffed and taken out just for fun.
jerseydevilhc:
Not sure how I’ve woken up today in bed with only socks on, but I’ll assume my night went well.
If anyone happens upon a maroon v-neck and black jeans, please send those along my way.
Charming. Did you find your clothes yet?
theotinez:
There’s a conersation we all need to have, but I don’t think anyone wants to be the person to breech it, so let me be the leader. This afternoon, all I wanted was a quick trip to Walmart, but what did mine eyes behold as soon as I stepped through the door? Red and pink and giant teddy bears everywhere. Entire displays of chocolate in heart-shaped cardboard box. I understand marketing companies need to stay on top of the competition, but people are still taking their Christmas trees down and getting over their NYE hangovers, and we’re already shoveling the scheme that is Valentine’s Day down everyone’s throat. A line needs to be drawn at some point .
Valentine’s Day is hands down the worst holiday. It’s just an excuse for shitty boyfriends to pretend like they don’t need to do anything special all year as long as they get her something for Valentines, her birthday, Christmas and their anniversary.
adrigcnzalez:
The Holiday season sucks because so many people need to get their cars inspected since it was a Christmas gift or whatever which, by the way, is a ridiculous gift. If anyone needs their oil changed, I’m pretty sure we’re offering a New Years special that includes a window scraper. Please make Frank happy by stopping which will also make me happy because I like to get paid. And I’ll make sure the bathroom is clean which is not an easy task.
Buying someone a car sounds like something my dad would do. Luckily I don’t have one that needs to be inspected, but the next time I need new tires or something done, I’ll keep you in mind. How long have you worked there?
mariehum:
I really can’t remember what happened last night. All I remember was leaving for work. I don’t know what happened at work. But I guess that means it was a successful NYE, right? Not only that, but I didn’t wake up feeling like absolute roadkill. Marie: 1, Jackie D: 0. Take that, corporate bullshit alcohol.
Anyways, thank god for Uber Eats ‘cause I’m not try’na cook today. Or like…any day, my fridge is empty. Who’s still alive in these here parts? Or did you all die of alcohol poisoning?
I hope you didn’t drive yourself home from work, then. Jack is always a great choice, I never get hangovers from jack, I’m not sure why.
livhud:
You know, I don’t really go out to party that often.. But I guess I decided to last night thanks to a pretty girl, and whew was it worth it? Here’s to the New Years! I know people think resolutions are silly, but I’ve already started on mine today and I’m feeling very proud of it. Nothing’s more inspiring than to think ‘hey, I have a clean slate’ but that might just be me being weird.
A pretty girl always makes it worth it, the curse of being a lesbian, I guess. I have no control when a pretty girl asks me to do something. What was your resolution? I only think they’re silly when they’re totally unattainable. Then you’re just setting yourself up for failure.

If her crazy ass mother had taught her anything, it was to always be a friendly, welcoming neighbor. Lou-Ann Harper definitely had to keep up appearances, given the probably terrifying sounds that came from inside of her home on a regular basis, and Natalie always took note of how she’d bake goodies for any newcomers, trying to make them warm to her. Fortunately, Natalie was much more friendly, and didn’t particularly need to trick someone into thinking she was a nice person – she was a nice person, after all – however, it was one of her mom’s only traditions she liked to upkeep, and Natalie now found herself knocking on the new person’s door, box of still warm, homemade brownies in her free hand. It’d been a couple days, but she’d been busy, and hoped she wasn’t disturbing the newcomer’s New Years Eve by showing up unannounced like this. The invitation inside was a little unexpected, and Natalie wondered if maybe her new neighbor was expecting someone specific, but she chose to accept the invitation anyway, opening up the door and almost cautiously stepping inside. “H–” she started to say, but soon stopped, eyes wide, as she saw who was standing in front of her. In a freaking towel. “Kya?”
Natalie Harper was just about the last person she expected to see when the door opened. Of course she knew Natalie was in Jersey City, she’d known for a long time now, but they’d managed to not run into each other, yet. Seeing her there made Kya’s heart stop for a second, she was even more gorgeous than she was back in high school. It wasn’t surprising, but somehow seemed impossible. The realization that the reason she hadn’t seen her in so long was because she’d broken up with her with no explanation. Because Lou-Ann Harper had threatened to do one of the worst things imaginable to Natalie had she not. Her heart ached just thinking about how she felt during that time. She wanted to rush forward and hug Nat, but she knew that wasn’t appropriate, so she restrained her impulse. “Wow, Nat. Hi” She said, and then looked down at herself, and then around her apartment, suddenly realizing she had no idea why the other woman was here. “What are you doing in my apartment?”
mercejonesmd:
Happy New Year to everyone. I hope you had a safe and happy one! Mines was spent at the Hospital but at least I got to see my baby boy right after the clock strike 12. Always the best part of my day. So how is everyone else? Any New Year plans or Resolutions? Mines, I have no idea but it will come to me.
It must have been a crazy one if you were at work. Unless you don’t work in the ER, but I can’t imagine how many people were in the ER. You’re lucky you got to go home early enough to see him at midnight, I’m sure that was very nice for you.
jademcdonnell:
Two days into 2019 and I haven’t talked about Star Wars yet, so… Here goes: Greedo shot first, thank you very much.
Anyway, I’m absolute shit at resolutions because I can never seem to keep them. My hangover was so gnarly that I’m still recovering. I’ve just been holed up on my couch and binging Lucifer. Which, by the way, why did no one tell me about this show sooner? I’m in love with the literal devil and I don’t even care.
I’ve never seen any of those movies, I’m guessing if I ask you if I should change that, you’ll say yes, but I’ll ask anyways. Should I change that?
I’ve always meant to watch that, but just haven’t yet. How good is it? Is it gorey? I love some good gore.
blaineydaysanders:
I guess I’m a real adult now. I’m two glasses of champagne in, and I don’t want to go out anymore. I just want to sit in pajamas and maybe try to start tackling taking down these Christmas decorations.
I think ringing in the new year should be done however you enjoy it, you know? The whole point is starting the year off right, so you should do it by doing whatever you enjoy the most. Did you enjoy it?
inkbynat:

This is a great deal, I’ll probably be passing, but if I was in the market for a tattoo, I’d come to you.
jackofallroses:
A gas attendant and I really almost got into it on the first day of the year. While I still don’t get why we can’t pump our own damn gas, that’s a different story for a different day. He was mad I didn’t wish him a happy new year. I’m not sorry that I’m hungover and just wanna get home with my coffee. I’m guessing he had a rough year already. Just PSA, don’t take your personal issues out on people who aren’t involved in them.
He should have considered that perhaps you just wanted him to have a shitty year. There are plenty of people that I would love to wish a shitty new year.
rosexhaven:
I know it’s a new year and all, but I’m sick of all the posts about this. New year, new you? I call major bullshit. You’re going to make these stupid resolutions, just to have them fail two months in. Give it a rest, people. You know damn well you’re not going to change so why even bother.
That was really original, did you come up with it yourself, or just copy one of the 800 facebook statuses that get posted saying the exact same thing every year?
conorhuds:
Working a full 24 hours on New Years Eve really shows you the best and worst of NYC. Got dispatched to multiple house parties, spent a good chunk of my night hunkered down in Time’s Square playing words with friends with my unit, put the fear of god in some kids who got their hand some fireworks. The usual. How was everybody else’s night? Who took one for the team and drank enough for the both of us?
I know how you feel. I was lucky enough to not have to work this year, but that’s only because I just moved and needed time to unpack and settle in. Times Square duty is the worst though. I just relaxed, which is not my normal speed, but it was necessary this year.
jerseycitydave:
Manhattan, but I got kinda sick of living out of a shoebox. Plus the complex owner hated my dog.
Sadly B and I aren’t that organized - God I wish we were. I just threw what I could find into boxes until I couldn’t fit any more in ‘em.
We’re in the same boat, I just moved from Manhattan myself for the exact same reason. Everyone’s got their own way of doing it, I’m just too much of a neat freak for that. Have you finished yet?
