The Maasverse is Parallel Worlds/ Reincarnation Story (Spoilers for all three series)
The Maasverse is made of parallel worlds of ACOTAR, Crescent City, and Throne of Glass. I know that SJM is a Sailor Moon fan (as am I) and Sailor Moon was a reincarnation story. There are breadcrumbs in each of the main characters that connect them across worlds. It's not a perfect one-to-one comparison for the characters, which is what makes it all interesting. For each character, the world and their personal experiences still affect them, but their personalities remain the same. And they have to learn the same lessons in each of these worlds. For this reason I broke down personalities and stories by their basic elements.
My comparisons are below in the order of ACOTAR = CC = TOG.
Rhys = Ruhn = Dorian
Archetype: A sweet but arrogant prince.
He has bad boy vibes but is truly a softy. He doesn't agree with the traditions of his father, with who he has a bad relationship.
Rhys and Dorian are the most powerful, whereas Ruhn is expected to be powerful but isnāt at the beginning of the HOEAB. Their mates hold them accountable. Their friendships with Cassian/Hunt/Rowan began rocky. Their friendships with Azriel/Ithan/Chaol are brotherly. In every mate relationship he is mesmerized with her and tries everything to get her.
Feyre = Lydia = Manon
Archetype: Badass with a hidden heritage.
She started on the other side and is now on the good side. All three are spiteful and possibly petty. They are responsible lone wolves who donāt really let their hair down. Their mate getsĀ them to loosen up.
Breadcrumbs
Feyre's fae heritage is hinted at through the series. Lydia is a shifter with fae heritage. Manon Blackbeak learns later that she is the Crochan queen. In each mate relationship, she begins very unsure about her playboy like mate.
Nesta = Bryce = Aelin
Archetype: Snarky Queen
She must confront her heritage and longstanding prejudices to be the queen she needs to be. And she will bite you first. She is clever and good at snark. She loves music, dancing, and books. She is a party girl. She is related to the most powerful male in the series.
Breadcrumbs
Bryce and Aelin are world walkers. Nesta had a tattoo that looked like a wayfinding compass rose. They are all trained to fight in some way before they come into their power. They are all referred to as wolves. They complain about territorial fae bastards/ alpha holes.
Cassian = Hunt = Rowan
Archetype: The best example of a golden retriever trope
He is the tattooed, winged warrior who will give anything to his mate. He is an elite killer who is rigorous in training. He leads in battle, but will let his mate lead him. He has a surprisingly sentimental, thoughtful side.
Breadcrumbs
Hunt and Rowan are princes while Cassian is referred to as "the Prince of Bastards." Hunt and Cassian have powerful, unexplained heritages. Supposedly, Cassian doesn't have much power but has 7 siphons. Hunt was enslaved. Rowan was bound to Maeve. All three had a lover who died. In confrontations with Tamlin and Briallyn, Nesta hears unexplained thunder nearby. In both instances, Cassian is next to her. The thunder is reminiscent of Hunt's lightning power.
Elain = Sathia = Elide
Archetype: Bound to tradition or family
She uses her charm and cleverness to get out of sticky situations.
Breadcrumbs
Elide and Elain are beloved by other characters. Sathia is disliked by her brother but spoiled by her parents. Marriage is expected of Sathia and Elain. Elide is expected to get impregnated by a valg. Sathia has magic that allows her to grow plants. Elide and Lorcan pretend to be married. Sathia and Therion get married. Elain and Lucien know that they are mated.
Lucien = Therion = Lorcan
Archetype: Needs a place in the world
He is jaded with questionable loyalties. Most people donāt entirely trust them. He is good at starting problems with his snark. He is an outdoorsy guy with great tracking and spying skills.
Breadcrumbs
They all have a false love story that affects his loyalty. Lucien had a lover he thought was his mate. Therion has a bad relationship with the River Queenās daughter. Lorcan is in love with Maeve. Lucien is friends with Feyre and just civil with Nesta. Therion and Bryce flirt but she lost patience with him. Lorcan and Aelin hate each other but are civil later.
Azriel = Ithan= Chaol
Archetype: Fell in love with a woman who doesnāt love him back
He is a responsible and reserved leader. He is a stickler for the rules.
Breadcrumbs
Ithan and Chaol leave their leadership roles and are lost without them. In every case, they question the FMC about following the rules. Azriel and Chaol only care about their mothers. Ithan cares about his only family, Conor. Azriel and Chaol are spies. Amren refers to Azriel as a dog, while Ithan is also teased about being a dog. Best friends with the bad boy; Azriel and Rhys = Chaol and Dorian. Ithan gets invited to live with Ruhn, who takes him under his wing.
Gwyn = Hypaxia = Yrene
Archetype: Cloistered or sheltered person
She is studious in her female-dominated career. She doesnāt think that she should be recognized for her work. She is so focused that she doesn't really notice her mate. The other characters see her as naive when it comes to sex or relationships.
Breadcrumbs
Hypaxia is considered naive because she grew up away from living people. Gwyn grew up in a temple. Yrene just cloistered herself in work. The FMC helps them in their journey. Gwyn and Yrene learn self-defense. Hypaxia and Yrene look similarly.
Other Mentions
Mor= AsterinĀ
Amren = Fury = ?
Varian = Juniper = ?

Dropping a very special Sketch-a-wish, voted on by my lovely Patreon members for August! The winning request was to illustrate an off-page scene from The Folk of the Air series, when Cardan was writing his letters to Jude. I countered that Cardan went through the five stages of grief writing those letters, and each deserved it's own illustration. (Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, Acceptance) You'll also notice some familiar outfits throughout! Have a great weekend. :)
For the missing 6th letter, a toddler tantrum.
