My dear lgbt+ kids, 

Even if you have never been directly attacked because of your identity, you still belong in our community. 

The whole “But (…) are not oppressed” argument can lead to the really strange situation that kids feel guilty for not suffering enough. That’s so unhealthy! 

You’re part of our community because you’re not straight and/or don’t identify as the gender you were assigned at birth. That’s it - you don’t need to get kicked out of your home or get beaten up for that. 

Your story doesn’t need to be dramatic and drenched in pain for it to matter. Your worries and questions matter, even if there are no big safety concerns for you.
