Kyra could not be happier for her day off to finally arrive. She loved not having a set, 9-5 schedule, but that also came with long hours with little to no time to sleep. For the first time in what felt like months, she felt well rested, showered, and ready to actually have the time to have some fun and get out of the hospital and the house. Walking into the restaurant she was meeting her friend, she looked for a familiar blonde. Spotting her, a wide smile spread across her lips as she made her way over and plopped into the chair across from her. “I know, I know. I actually look like a human!”

“I can’t let you do that.” It was a phrase she often had to say to her friend, especially when Sloane coaxed her out to go ‘shopping’, otherwise known as Kyra tagging along as she spent money. As much as she loved the dress currently being held up to her, she knew that the price if it was at least the amount she spent on groceries for a month. As much as she appreciated the gesture, she just could not bring herself to even try it on. Gently pushing it away, she shook her head, “You’re right, it’s gorgeous. But where would I even wear it? I’m in scrubs 90% of the time!”

“Can I help you?” The question could have come out a little kinder than it did, but there was something about the way the man was looking at her that made her feel uncomfortable. Being a woman in Las Vegas, she should have been used to it by now, but that did not mean that she had to like it. The guy looked relatively harmless, not that much taller than herself even,  leading her to her bold decision to confront him. Arching an eyebrow, she crossed her arms while she waited to see if he was actually going to explain himself. “Well?”

“Are you looking for someone, or… what?” she asked, hard pressed to hide the annoyance in her voice. People were always wandering around the hospital, something that always set her on edge, even though it had yet to turn into a bad situation. She had just seen too much television to trust the hall wanderers. “I can point you in the right direction or even escort you, if you would like,” she offered, her eyebrow dangerously close to arching as she waited for the person to reply.
