Guys, I was about to make a post, but then I came across news saying that ‼️ Episode 9 was leaked through the Brazilian release.‼️I haven’t looked for any leaked clips myself, and based on the comments I can’t really tell whether it’s true or not. So if any of you know more about this, I’d love to hear your thoughts. But please, let’s be respectful to each other and avoid spoiling Episode 9.
Episode 8
Episode 7
Just finished episode 8 so…
❗️ SPOILERS ❗️
First of all, imagine my shock when i heard Kinger literally voicing my theory, the one i’ve had for a YEAR. Word for word…
(i find this really funny, don’t judge me lol)
also this moment…( like what the )
also, the way the knives were placed reminded me of a table etiquette rule - that kind of placement means the person didn’t like the meal. And it also reminded me of that one Glitch Productions video where they introduced Pomni.
JAX 💔💔💔
anyway, that’s probably it for now, just my first thoughts and impressions. Share yours, what do you think?
Sorry it’s uneven, I tried my best lol.

Hey yall!
So, after thinking a bit about the plot after episode 7, what became more interesting to me is not how the characters will get out of the circus, but how and for what purpose they even got there in the first place. And I think I have an idea, although after thinking it through properly, it seems pretty crazy.
My theory is that all characters entered the circus voluntarily as participants in experimental therapy.
All the main characters clearly have psychological problems:
Pomni experiences acute stress, panic attacks, denial of the situation, paranoia, and (digital) hallucinations.
Jax shows antisocial behavior, hiding insecurity and fear of vulnerability behind a mask of cynicism and cruelty.
Gangle suffers from extreme emotional fragility, her personality radically changes when she loses her mask (from depression to joy and back in a cycle).
And the same applies to all the main characters. Except for Kinger, but we will return to him later.
In my version, these people decided to take part in experimental therapy, signed contracts, put on helmets, and were placed into life-support capsules. But their memory was partially erased about how exactly they got into the circus and about their real names.
The idea of the Digital Circus as experimental therapy does not seem unrealistic if we remember that in the past psychiatry used extremely harsh and unethical methods from lobotomy to electroconvulsive therapy. Moreover, even today there are forms of treatment through simulations and game environments. Therefore, the concept of therapy disguised as a show looks like a logical continuation of real practices.
I focus on Kinger because I assume that he is one of the administrators who helped develop the system, and his role in the circus is to monitor the system and the other characters. This also explains why he has been there the longest and still has not abstracted. Possibly his “admin” status gives him extended abilities and helps him not to abstract, or he passed psychological tests and thorough psychological preparation.
An interesting detail. In the pilot episode, Caine said:
“The Amazing Digital Circus is a place to be enjoyed by all ages.”
This leads to one disturbing thought. If the Digital Circus is an environment “suitable for all ages,” this may mean that not only adults, but also teenagers or even children could have participated in the experiment. This explains the cartoonish style, censorship, and lack of genitals: the system must be safe for the most vulnerable psyche. However, this also makes the experiment even more cruel, since not all participants could withstand such a form of “treatment.”
If Circus experimental therapy, then the logic is: “the earlier you intervene - the higher the chance to fix the psyche.”
Perhaps the Digital Circus is disguised to hide its true purpose - experimental psychotherapy. The phrase “for all ages” sounds like a marketing slogan behind which an unethical experiment is hidden. Also, using people of any age is beneficial for the company that started all this, because the more test subjects there are, the more data there is on the results of the therapy.
This makes the experiment even harsher. If there are many empty rooms in the hallway, then there could have been children there too, who could not handle it.
Where are their real bodies?
If they are just in helmets - they would have died from hunger and thirst. So, most likely they are kept in life-support capsules.
But here a problem arises, this is VERY expensive.
And the circus characters are clearly not rich: Gangle worked in food service, Ragatha lived on a farm.
And to maintain the characters, you need:
• nutrition (through tubes),
• breathing,
• heart monitoring,
• medication,
• prevention of muscle atrophy,
• electricity,
• equipment,
• staff,
• facilities.
1 day in intensive care like this would cost approximately:
$1,000 - $3,000 per day
That is:
$30,000 - $90,000 per month
$360,000 - $1,000,000 per year
If a person lies there, for example, for 5 years: from 1.8 to 5 million dollars for ONE person.
And this does not include the cost of:
• servers,
• the VR system itself,
• software development,
• the building,
• electricity,
• staff,
and all the other details.
From this we draw the following conclusions: someone is paying for them, they are just test subjects and/or they were offered this for free.
An example of using such capsules can be found in the game “Amanda the Adventurer 3,” where it is revealed that children physically lie in capsules while their consciousness is trapped in digital form.
And well, if all this is not true, then most likely the characters’ bodies in real life have been rotting for a long time ;))
Oh, and what about the real world and the time period the characters live in? Although visually the Circus looks like an old computer system, the characters are clearly from the modern world for example, Pomni was a blogger.
This may mean that the Circus technology runs on outdated hardware (if we refer to the pilot episode where it was shown) or intentionally uses retro design (since the peak popularity of CRT monitors was in the 1980s–1990s), which emphasizes the experimental and unethical nature of the project.
So the option is this, they are the first test subjects of a free experiment testing the technology, and no one knows if it actually works.
And judging by the number of empty rooms…it does NOT work.
What does “abstraction” mean?
If the people in the hallway are past participants, then “abstraction” means that the psyche could not withstand the treatment. Possibly they were disconnected or they died.
And the main question is: who even needs all of this? There are not many options: the state, a corporation, a scientific consortium, or all of them together.
Also briefly about another theory of mine related to Caine. Possibly one of the goals of the Digital Circus is the training and testing of artificial intelligence (Caine). People were placed into the simulation as “living data,” so that the AI could learn to manage a complex environment, create scenarios, control behavior, and observe the reactions of real people, including those with mental disorders.
That is, the Circus is a testing ground, and the characters are an exam for the AI: will it be able to create “therapy,” keep people in the system, and cope with unstable personalities. Especially if we are talking not about modern time, judging by the CRT monitors.
Well, I think that’s all. Write what you think about this!!
Hey yall!
I’m a little late, but, well better late than never, right?
It’s been a whole year since my very first post here. For a year now, I’ve been writing theories, sharing my thoughts, and analyzing small details in The Amazing Digital Circus episodes. During this time, I experimented with different post formats, learned how to analyze stories better, admired other fans’ works, got some theories right (and some very wrong), wrote both long and short posts, answered questions, and shared even the tiniest thoughts. Some posts did really well, some didn’t but I can say for sure that over this year I’ve learned a lot and grown together with this blog.
The Amazing Digital Circus as a show means a lot to me, so here’s a bit of my personal lore. Just a couple of months before it came out, my previous fandom, which I had been part of for almost two years was slowly dying. I had joined it pretty late already, when the activity was fading, but I still took part in discussions, wrote theories, and tried to be a part of that world. Back then, I was practicing writing theories on that topic, they were honestly pretty shallow compared to what I write now, but that was also part of my growth. I won’t name that fandom, but it was an important part of my life. And when it ended, The Amazing Digital Circus felt like a breath of fresh air: a completely new show with everything I love, a new format, new characters, new people, a new fandom. I was, am, and always will be happy to be here.
I often say that regretting the past is pointless, because it’s already happened and can’t be changed. Probably the only thing I truly regret is not starting this blog back when the pilot came out, I already had so many thoughts back then. Still, everything I’ve written here has given me so much. One of the most memorable moments for me in this year (it might sound silly to some, but it meant a lot to me) was seeing a comment like: “What are your theories about episode X?” I remember feeling completely confused and thinking, how could anyone be interested in what I think?
Thank you to everyone who has read even a single one of my posts. Feedback genuinely means a lot to me, which is why I appreciate comments, reblogs, and any kind of response so much. I try to fact-check, to make my posts engaging and interesting, even though I still sometimes feel scared to post certain theories, worrying that someone might think they’re nonsense or not worth taking seriously. Some of the kind words people have sent me, I actually printed out and hung on my wall, just to remind myself that my work isn’t meaningless. I think this blog helps me deal with many of my fears and, of course, it lets me share my thoughts, because maybe someone will read them and understand something important for themselves. So, once again, thank you so much to everyone who has left any kind of mark on this page. Every bit of feedback you’ve ever given me matters. (And maybe your comment is hanging on my wall too, lol)
Happy New Year to all of you. I hope this year treats you well and that no one will abstract.
Yours, Ali aka kys02❣️
In one of the scenes, we hear Jax arguing with Ribbit. In a previous post, I mentioned that in one of the dubs we could hear their dialogue:
Jax: Do you understand?! You didn’t need to say anything, Kaufmo, you didn’t need to say anything at all! Why?!
Ribbit: I didn’t mean anything like that!.. Please!
I have a theory: Jax told Ribbit something about his past, possibly something very personal and traumatic. She told Kaufmo because she thought that, as friends, they should know everything about each other. Jax got angry and started scolding her, which led to the conflict.
This explains why he blames himself for her abstraction, and why he mocks only girls (Gangle, Pomni) for the same reason. Although it’s also possible that he simply considers girls to be weak.
Hey yall! This will be a slightly non-standard post.
So, in one of the scenes in Episode 7, Jax is looking at what seems to be one of his old memories. In the background, you can hear multiple voices speaking at the same time. However, the subtitles don’t specify any words or indicate who is talking.
But! In the Russian dub, some of the dialogue in this moment is actually understandable.
I tried really hard to make out the words in the original English audio, but without much success, so if any of you managed to hear something, I’d be very interested to know!
Still, here’s the part of the dialogue that can be heard in the Russian dub:
Jax: Do you understand?! You didn’t need to say anything Kaufmo, you didn’t need to say anything at all! Why?!
Ragatha / Ribbit: I didn’t mean anything like that!..Please!
During dubbing, certain words or even the original meaning could have been changed or lost, so I can’t be 100% sure that this dialogue matches what was said in the original version.
Джекс: Понимаешь?! Тебе не нужно было говорить Кауфмо, тебе вообще ничего не нужно было говорить! Зачем?
Рагата/Риббит: Я ничего такого не хотела!.. Пожалуйста!
I’m writing Ragatha / Ribbit because I’m not sure who exactly it is. The voice sounds very similar to Ragatha’s, but Ribbit’s voice actror is listed in the subtitles for this episode and I couldn’t clearly identify his voice in other scenes.
There’s also a theory that this isn’t Ribbit, but Ragatha. Possibly this happened after Ribbit’s abstraction, and Ragatha told Kaufmo about it (because she believed everyone should know). Jax may have gotten angry because of this and I think this could have been one of the reasons why Kaufmo started to lose his mind.
Let me know what you think!
Hey yall!
I’ll probably take a bit more time before doing a full breakdown of Episode 7. You know, I have some things I need to deal with in rl. So for now, I want to briefly talk about what I think is the most important scene. This scene really confused me at first, so I’ll try to explain it the way I personally understand it.
So, in one of the final scenes, we see the moment where Jax presses a button tied to a choice: the characters can either leave the Digital Circus or stay in it. In the end, Jax presses the red button, which means everyone stays in the circus.
And I believe this choice was not entirely his own.
I’ve already made a post about this topic, but I’ll say it again: I’m convinced that Caine can influence the players’ consciousness within the framework of the adventures. And this episode clearly supports that idea.
If we look closely at the scene, we can see that Jax is in an extremely vulnerable state, basically, a panic attack. In that condition, a person’s mind is much easier to manipulate. And what’s important is that Caine has done this before. For example, the moment when Jax became a vegan he didn’t even notice it himself. That tells us Caine already knows that Jax is very susceptible to suggestion and instructions.
We see Caine start showing Jax strange fragments of memories. Honestly, I still can’t fully make sense of them. We see a road, a car, a dark forest, possibly memories from his real life. But the exact details aren’t the main point. What matters is that Caine is deliberately influencing Jax’s subconscious, pushing him toward the decision Caine wants.
As a result, Jax presses the button.
And the key moment is his reaction right after the adventure ends. He turns to the others and clearly doesn’t understand why he did it at all. This reaction is almost identical to the one he had after the vegan situation. In other words, the realization only comes once the adventure is over and Caine’s influence stops.
That’s exactly why Jax later says to Caine that he can react to their subconscious. He doesn’t say this randomly, he says it because he didn’t want to press that button. The understanding came only afterward.
So this is the conclusion I draw:
Caine really can affect the characters’ subconscious inside the adventures, using certain “codes” or triggers, but outside of them, he can’t directly change their minds. I actually talked about this in one of my previous posts and thank you so much to everyone who discussed it, I really appreciated it!!
Now, briefly about a few other points.
At the very end, Kinger mentions the first character who abstracted. And Caine’s reaction to that is very strange. I assume that the first abstracted character was under Caine’s influence. Caine is an AI, which learns through tests, mistakes, and observation. It’s possible that this character was used to understand what abstraction actually is, whether such a person poses a threat to others, and what should be done with them afterward.
I also think it’s pretty obvious that Abel was a planted element of Caine’s adventure, that was clear from the very beginning. Even in the pilot episode, we were shown that Caine has literally all-seeing surveillance. His office, the “eyes,” the cameras, it all looks like the characters are living under thousands of surveillance cameras controlled by Caine alone. They’re being watched constantly. So the idea that the adventures are fully controlled, and that escaping the circus is almost impossible, was clear from the start.
I also want to add one more thing:
If these adventures are merely Caine’s imagination, then that means he has already figured out what all the circus characters are capable of. Or maybe he wanted to see how far they would go for a chance to escape.
Let me know what you think about Episode 7!
So, we’ve literally got just a couple hours left until Episode 7 drops, so I’ll write a few quick things and come back after watching it!)
No one abstracts. (I mean the main characters)
We’re going to see Jax’s room, judging by the shots from inside it and the picture of the open door to his room.
There will be lots of references to «I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream.»
The only “beach” thing we’re getting is the title. Think about it: we only have 2 episodes left after this one, there’s no time to chill on a beach ;))
Caine is going to glitch even harder. I’m guessing he’ll act more hostile or something like that.
Sooo. I’ve had one idea in my head for a long time. What if the characters actually had a way to leave circus? But only through a trial. I’ve been thinking about it for a while, and now I want to share the concept (?) that I would call
“The Last Reality.”
So, all circus characters put on a VR headset, similar to the one they originally used to enter the circus. The rule is simple: after this point, they will never be able to leave the circus again. Any attempt results in being sent to the basement among the abstracted.
Inside the headset, they relive their normal everyday lives: memories, traumas, fears but everything is turned up to maximum intensity. They remember everything about their real lives except their names, which is why everyone uses pseudonyms. We’ve already seen that Caine can alter consciousness on a subconscious level, so technically he could make them believe that their pre-circus life looked exactly like this.
The last person to remove the headset wins and is allowed to leave the circus.
Their VR "life" will actually look like a nightmare. Friends, parents, loved ones start acting distant or openly hostile. Coworkers hate them, fears become real, intrusive thoughts get “confirmed,” and every scene convinces them that nobody is waiting for them in the real world.
I like the idea that they will be frightened not by some kind of screamers, hallucinations, etc., but by the horrors of real life.
At first, they’ll assume it’s just some kind of illusion. And of course these conflicts won’t start immediately. Everything grows gradually, so the person wearing the headset slowly accepts this new reality as the truth.
Where this idea came from (and no, it’s not just because I want them to suffer ;))
Caine has been “glitching” ever since the pilot because he’s starting to feel useless. He’s an AI whose primary purpose is to create adventures. But based on the recent episodes, the cast can entertain themselves perfectly fine without him. They literally have a suggestion box that Caine deliberately ignores. So Caine becomes unnecessary.
And this trial is his desperate attempt to feel important again.
The trial ends only when everyone removes their VR headsets. But the last one to do so "wins" and is allowed to leave the circus. However, after leaving, they continue to believe in the reality they saw inside. So that even after leaving the circus, they can be sure it was better there. And maybe even want to go back.
Another detail
Inside VR, a character can still abstract. If someone can’t handle the psychological pressure, they lose their mind before the trial even ends. And then they get sent to the basement like any other abstracted.
The main thing is that the character must understand after the test.
In the real world there is only pain
I’m the only one who needs you
You belong here and nowhere else
This is Caine’s revenge and a way to convince every future arrival that the circus is the only safe place left.
After the trial, those who remain inside the circus will genuinely feel like they “won,” because their mind keeps thinking that outside is worse than here. Until eventually they realize it was all a lie and Caine can’t keep their consciousness distorted forever.
So this wasn’t the only idea I had for this kind of test. I came up with two more concepts. But I found quite a lot of plot holes in them. Still, I’m really curious what you think about them.
"Labyrinth of Memories"
The first idea is similar to the main one, but with a twist. All characters end up inside a maze, similar to the Backrooms in atmosphere. Behind every door they see moments from their lives both before and after they arrived at the Circus. At the end of the test, they’re given a choice.
They can leave the circus, but only if they permanently renounce all their memories from the real world or from the circus. If a character chooses not to erase their memories of either their life before or during the circus, they remain in the circus forever.
I didn’t go with this idea because if a character has only just arrived in the circus, they basically don’t lose anything, and end up leaving almost “for free”.
“Secret Mindbreaker”
The name was coined as a play on words, the first word being from the game "Secret Santa" and the second being the person the character becomes after the challenge.
The second concept works like this: every character writes their name on a piece of paper, and then each one randomly receives someone else’s name.
If they manage to drive that specific person into abstraction, they’re allowed to leave the Circus.
But again, there’s a problem, characters might accidentally push someone into abstraction. So there would need to be certain rules to make it fair. I just haven’t figured out what those rules could be.
Tell me what you think about these concepts!
While rewatching the trailer for Episode 7, I noticed that the voice at the end saying “I think I’ve found the way to leave” sounds a lot like Kinger.
But! After thinking a bit, I remembered that after Episode 5 there was the merch promo that featured Kaufmo. I don’t think they would include his voice for no reason. In the video I put their voices together and yeah, they really do sound similar.
And, sure, this could make sense, but I also doubt my own theory. You know…once you get abstracted, you turn into a giant weird glitching creature with eyes, and they lock you up in the basement. And as we’ve seen, there are already a lot of characters down there. So even if it is Kaufmo’s voice, how would he find a way out while being abstracted and in the basement?
Even though I do have a theory that abstraction = the exit itself, I’m still pretty unsure about it. Let me know what you think.
