Eddie rolls his lip inwards to keep from openly laughing, trying his best to keep that stern, ‘I’m-not-mad-just-disappointed’ fatherly face he struggles to perfect. He winces as Ravi’s feet fly a little too close to the pool table for his liking, Buck’s steps faltering as he trips over his own. He can see the pure joy upon Buck’s face as he spins and spins. Eddie momentarily tears his eyes away from Buck to glance at Hen as she comes up the stairs, pauses, shakes her head, and then turns around. Probably for the best, really, as Buck finally puts Ravi down with a heavy-handed thump. Eddie’s eyes narrow at Ravi, checking to see if he was okay, but the younger firefighter laughs off the shake in his knees.
Just as Buck laughs off the way he stumbles, again, although this time in a zigzag pattern all the way back to Eddie. He collapses just a few inches shy of the couch, flopping down in a heavily breathing bundle right at Eddie’s feet. Buck lets his cheek fall onto Eddie’s knee.
“Was that fun, pup?”
Acknowledgment breaks through the haze of Buck’s excitement at the nickname, just for a moment, before he devolves back into a happy, panting mess.
“Dizzy,” is about all Buck can manage in return. Eddie snorts and cards a hand through Buck’s hair. It elicits a shiver, followed by a content hum when Eddie’s fingers find purchase at the base of his curls.
“I bet.”
Across the loft, Ravi has recovered from his brief ride upon the Buck carousel and seems eager for another go. His gaze, alight with glee, hunt for Buck around the room and become even brighter when he spots him. He doesn’t have to call his name because Buck has seen him too and has grown bored of the floor, and of Eddie, although he doesn’t leave without giving Eddie a kiss. A selfish man through and through, Eddie holds Buck’s face and deepens it. He reminds Buck with gentle hands exactly who he belongs to before he lets him go, swatting at Buck’s ass as it retreats. Ravi turns his back to Buck and lifts his arms up, breath already broken by intermittent giggles. Buck is laughing too but, before he lifts and spins Ravi once more, he looks to Eddie. Eddie makes him wait. Just because he can. Only for a few seconds, though. Just three, before he nods and Buck and Ravi become a blur again. The roll of his eyes is fond, but exasperated, as Eddie lifts his phone to film their silly game.
