She clung to the taller girl tightly, as if her life depended on it.
“Suzuha!” Mayuri’s voice shook, and tears were dangerously close to spilling from her eyes. “Please– Please tell me it isn’t true, please tell me everyone’s okay! Okarin– Okarin has to be okay! I– I can’t break my promise, I can’t let anything bad happen to either of us, I told him we’d both be okay! This– this doesn’t make sense, why does this have to happen?”
Remaining rigid as Mayuri clung to her, she tightened her jaw. How’d they know about them - how could Mary even get these?
“I… don’t know. Maybe someone else…” Mary was supposedly holding them hostage. Who knew if she was telling the truth - but she did have all those items If someone else murdered, and ‘went far enough’ then maybe all of them would be released. She wasn’t going to remind Mayuri about that though. She wasn’t sure how the younger girl would take it. “I know it doesn’t make sense. None of this does. I’m sure.. He’ll be fine. We’ll be fine.”
“We can find a way out.” She was starting to doubt it for a moment, but no. She had to believe. She had to get out. There had to be some way…
