Can you do a reaction to the ladies getting a serious case of baby fever
Cue the Fluff.
Cait: Something strange was going on with Cait but at first Sole was having a hard time figuring out what it was. Usually Cait was the one who barreled through the Commonwealth with a take-no-prisoners attitude and a baseball bat in hand, cursing at anything that dared cross her path. Needless to say, this is what Sole was used to and what they admired about Cait. Cait just really didn’t give a fuck…about anything. However, on their recent travels and excursions out, Cait had, dare Sole say, softened? That didn’t seem to be the right word for it and Sole was utterly perplexed. Now whenever they went out, anytime Cait saw a baby creature, she would grab Sole’s arm tightly and say, “Awe! Do you see that wee lil’ thing?! Loot at ‘em. Just tryin’ to make ‘is way in the world.” The first few times this happened, Sole was speechless and wide-eyed. What did Cait just say?, they would ask themself. Did she just say that an irradiated creature was….cute? And it didn’t really matter what sort of creature it was, Cait would gush. They had seen a baby deathclaw… a baby molerat for god’s sake but Cait still said it was cute and stared lovingly at it. Sole started to have a hunch at what was happening, and decided to ask. “So, Cait…I’ve been noticing that you seem to be infatuated with anything that’s little and ‘cute’ these days. Um..just curious…do you think you might have baby fever?” “Do I have wha’??,” Cait asked scowling at Sole. “Baby fever. You know, when you sort of long to be taking care of something or..a mother?” Cait’s guard was lowered. “No…,” she answered with an unconvincing laugh. Sole waited for another response. “I just,” Cait started. “I’ve just been feeling protective of lil’ things recently. And I started thinkin’….maybe I want to take care of somethin’ lil’ with ya…” Sole smiled and took Cait’s hand, causing her to look up. “Hey,” Sole started, “I’ve been thinking about that too.”
Curie: Over the past few weeks, Sole had begun to notice that Curie was spending an awful lot of time with Shaun. This was of course, not uncommon. However, Curie had been attending to Shaun as if he were an infant. Sole would find her wiping dirt off of Shaun’s face much to his disdain, and watching him lovingly as he played, telling him to be careful. It was sweet, and Sole loved watching it, but it was different. One day Curie found some old baby pictures of Shaun that Sole had managed to keep safe over the years. “Look! Look at what I found!,” Curie exclaimed, her eyes full of love. “Can we look at them please?? Oh! And you have to tell me everything!” Sole laughed and agreed. “I want to know just what it was like to have a little one. What did Shaun smell like? I’ve heard that babies have a smell??” Sole and Curie spent hours into the evening looking at the photos, Sole trying to remember every detail to tell to Curie. Meanwhile Curie sat wide eyed, cooing at each picture of the baby, each story that Sole would tell. She had a glow about her that Sole had never seen before. “Curie..,” Sole started as they lay on an old couch, embracing and admiring the stars. “I can’t help but notice how interested you’ve been in babies lately.” Curie looked to Sole. “Yes I…I have just been having this maternal feeling. A feeling that I need to nurture something. And….I would love to share that with you,” Curie admitted softly. She and Sole shared a loving smile. Sole sighed contentedly saying, “You know, I would love that too.”
Piper: Piper had been her usual self: talkative, nosey, a spitfire, and bouncing off the walls from all the sugar she consumed. And yet, for how well Sole knew her, there was a side of her that started to show that Sole had never seen before. Piper had always been protective of her little sister Nat, but it had always been more of a best friend/sisterly relationship. Piper had, of course, been forced to start taking care of Nat from a young age, but it never seemed a motherly duty to her. Now it seemed that after Piper spent time with Nat, she returned to Sole saddened. Sole had tried to ask Piper what was troubling her, but for all that Piper was willing to uncover, this was not one of those subjects. Rather, the journalist shook off her mood and said that nothing was wrong, thanking Sole for being considerate with a soft smile and giving them a kiss. “Thanks ya big sap…but I’m fine,” she’d try to joke. This continued and Sole would continue to try and console Piper, and finally one day she opened up. “Blue, Nat is growing up. She’s getting older…and I’ll always be her sister but I won’t be able to take care of her forever, and that…it kills me. Maybe I’m crazy, but part of me feels like I have to have something to nurture, to take care of…and now that Nat’s growing up….I don’t know. And I have these weird thoughts like “I want a baby,”… but the Commonwealth is no place for a baby. I mean, what kind of life would that be?,” Piper said exaggerated, her head down now as she felt she couldn’t look at Sole. “Pipes,” Sole said so lovingly and gently that Piper had to meet their eyes. “It’s okay. You’re not crazy, in fact I think this is normal. And honestly, I think about this stuff too.” “What stuff?,” Piper asked. “I think about having a baby with you, Piper. I want that with you,” Sole said with a gentle smile. “Oh Blue…,” Piper said with a huge smile as she leapt at Sole, tackling them in an embrace and peppering them with kisses.
