Black People and Niggas.
That epic breakdown Chris Rock gave us years ago still applies obviously. But there's certain types of folks in the Black congregation that often mistake their status within this dynamic.
Okay, I'll say it simpler.
Some NIGGAS mistake themselves for Black folks when their NIGGADOM shines way brighter.
AN EXAMPLE YOU ASK?! I'd LOOOOOVE to give one!!!
ANY PEER who had shit to say about Colin Kaepernick. I'm tired of "well to do" Black folk thinking they're exempt from being "niggas". I'm not speaking of skin color either. The meaning of “niggas” runs so much deeper than what people give it credit for.
"Niggas" is a state of mind. In slavery days it was meant to depreciate the value of stolen Blacks. It was meant to separate Black human beings from White human beings and dehumanize Blacks.
But that's the thing!
NIGGAS of NOW (one example anyway) are the people who will help that dynamic stay alive because they don't want to jeopardize their shot at "Massa's" financial opportunities.
They don't accept accountability for things. There’s tons of examples, but the ones who boil my blood most sufficiently are the niggas who are smart in theory, but fail to apply their knowledge into actual EDUCATION. They fail to see the BIG PICTURE and put themselves in other people’s positions. They’re lazy where it counts mentally. They read things that fit into their pre-conceived biases and allow it to fuel their bias instead of opening their minds up to all of the variables.
Basically I’m saying that there are Black folks who look down on their own and say things like, “everyone has a shot to rise above their circumstances, there’s no excuse” - which to some extent, I believe some people fit that narrative. But to speak as a whole about Black folks being their own worst enemy without understanding the mental booby traps that created a domino effect... really pisses me off.
People who think like this are just as much of a cancer to our community as Mona Scott-Young. But just as drug dealers have said before, “If I don’t do it, someone will...”
Having the freedom of expression for me is like air...I need it. I need to be extra. Dramatic. I was gonna be on Broadway before my back went out. Don’t laugh, I was dope. I wish social media was around back then so I could’ve shown my 115-pound self tumbling and hitting the dance floor with video choreographers. Then again, you get away with NOTHING on these here internet regions. So maybe my generation was the last of the lucky ones. Am I really a millenial tho? It took me a while to accept the breakdown. Whatever. I’m in the twilight zone regardless. Jeannie and Greg (parentals) didn’t set my brain up for the fuckery out here. So I’ve been trying to adjust. I’ll elaborate on this later.
This is the way I usually feel. EVERY. DAMN. DAY. Shit, I AM BOTHERED.
