“Nothing is lost to the lover of shadows and darkness. Mystery remains.”
— Anaïs Nin, from The Diary of Anaïs Nin, Vol. I: “November, 1933”
Oscar Wilde, from a letter featured in The Selected Letters of Oscar Wilde
“These are the lessons to be learned. Drink chamomile tea to calm the spirit. Feed a cold and starve a fever. Read as many books as you can. Always choose courage. Never watch another woman burn. Know that love is the only answer.” - Magic Lessons by Alice Hoffman
Jane Birkin talking about Serge Gainsbourg, 1970
“I stopped going to therapy because I knew my therapist was right and I wanted to keep being wrong. I wanted to keep my bad habits like charms on a bracelet. I did not want to be brave. I think I like my brain best in a bar fight with my heart. I think I like myself a little broken. I’m ok if that makes me less loved. I like poetry better than therapy anyway. The poems never judge me for healing wrong.”
— Clementine von Radics, Mouthful of Forevers (via larmoyante)
Emily Dickinson, “Ghosts.”
— Richard Siken, Portrait of Fryderyk in Shifting Light (via letsbelonelytogetherr)

In a society that values conformity and obedience, the individual who dares to think for himself is often banished and ridiculed. These non-conformists, these outcasts, are the true pioneers of society, the ones who push us to question our assumptions and broaden our horizons. They are the ones who are not afraid to be different, to be themselves. If you feel like an outsider, like you don't fit in with the crowd, that's a good thing. It means that you have the potential to make a real difference in the world. Don't be afraid to be yourself, to follow your own path. The world needs your unique perspective.
Timothy Leary
Heinrich Hofmann (German, 1824-1911) Christ in Gethsemane, 1890 Gethsemane chapel Jesus prayed the same prayer three times in the Garden of Gethsemane. Matthew 26:39-44 describes Jesus' prayer. He goes away to pray, pleading with God to take the suffering away if possible, but ultimately submitting to God's will. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). - The Bible.
