Hear me out- Jackie, Svetlana, and Rose helping Shane take boudoir photos for their anniversary. Shane is blushing the ENTIRE time

The night of their anniversary, after spending the evening at a fancy restaurant, Shane presents the book of photos to Ilya

Ilya literally spends close to ten minutes analyzing each and every photo, eyes darting around like it's going to be taken away from him

He flips through each page and then back again before slowly closing it and setting it on their end table, not saying a word

Shane starts getting a bit worried, thinking maybe Ilya doesn't like it, that it's weird and too much

Ilya then TACKLES Shane and starts rapidly speaking Russian and kissing and grabbing at every piece of skin he can find before taking Shane apart throughly, stopping all negative (actually all) thoughts and making Shane forget his own name

The photos were of Shane in Ilya's jersey (both Boston and Ottawa), close ups of his face, flushed cheeks and freckles as the focus point, him laying down in tight boxers surrounded by lilies, of his bare thighs, and of his stomach and neck with a hand splayed across, wedding ring visible

anyway, one day, ilya would call shane his little star because he's always loved his freckles and trying to find the constellations in them, and shane would squirm about it. what about you, huh, he'd parry back, brushing his fingers over ilya's cheeks, all these beautiful marks; you're the star, not me . . . moya zvez-zvezdochka.

he'd trip over the pronunciation as he tried to mimic ilya, russian still too unfamiliar on his tongue but ilya wouldn't even notice. he'd be too stunned. because for him, loving shane's freckles is a cornerstone to him, something that he's been sure of since the moment they met. he'd never once stopped to consider it might have been the same for shane.
