As a reader, masterlists make it easier for me to find things so this is why I made this I guess. Starline. (Batfamily x reader x JJBA story) Introduction. Chapter One. - Part One - Part Two
Hi, so um... I did a little oopsie and posted the draft of the next part of Starline. Before it was done. And in a hurry to delete it I just... Deleted it. With no backup. So now I have to rewrite it.
:)
The crash out of the century is upon us. I'm terribly sorry for the delay, my dear reader.
Chapter One.
Part Two: Think of Something.
(Batfamily x reader x JJBA, platonic)
JoJo was a good kid. Her childhood had few notable facts but nothing too traumatic. At least from what Bruce knows. Truth be told, in the past few months, he has begun doubting what he knew about her.
He knew JoJo to be a cheerful kid, who grew up to have a strong sense for justice but also be the least troublesome of all the members in the family. She didn't hang from chandeliers, didn't chase rogues. She hardly even bothered him.
That could be his fault. He might have made her feel like a burden? He honestly didn't know anymore. He thought he had a good relationship with her. He had learned how to put her hair in pigtails when she was a toddler. That counted for something, no?
He was trying. It clearly wasn't hard enough, but he did with all his might. Between his nightly activities and his mess of a life, he tried to be the best father he could to this little girl who was growing up into a beautiful little human with an honest soul. She was an angel and his main goal was to protect that.
The problems first started when the illusion of the perfect little girl began breaking. He would never imagine he'd turn out to be a stereotypical father. However, the first time he heard her cuss was when they first started arguing. She must've been twelve at the time. There hasn't been a single month from then up to her disappearance that they didn't fight.
It was always so much drama over the smallest things. With her, he cared for things he wouldn't give less of a crap about with his other kids. He cared about her friends being good influences, he cared about appearances, he cared about her grades. Sometimes, it would just be too much for her.
She would yell. A lot. She would have a bag ready to go and stay the night at Kate's and one time tried to go to Dick by taking the last bus out of Gotham. It mysteriously had three flat tires out of nowhere.
She would call him controlling and other ugly names. On days like that he felt like the worst father on the planet. It hurt him but he tried not to hurt her back. He thought silence was better.
That led to their other kind of arguments. The silent treatments for days. It didn't matter who started nor who escalated it, but they'd walk away and just never talk it out. That, they found out quickly, wasn't a good strategy. It always failed.
Alfred would make them talk to each other again after a few days, but they'd never actually talk their issues through. They'd just engage in small talk, ignore each other, and eventually fight again.
However, there were some rare moments of peace between father and daughter. Like when he'd return from patrol and find her asleep in the library so he'd carry her to her bed, just as if she were still a baby. Like when she'd make a sweet treat (she'd do that a lot when she was stressed) and would go down to the cave to leave a little something for him. Like when Bruce would space out during dinner as she's eating broccoli because there was a time when she'd cry over broccoli. Yet she grew up and eats it.
It was the growing up part that screwed everything. They used to be so happy together.
She used to come down to the cave before patrol and kiss his forehead bye-bye. She used to look for him everywhere. She always wanted to spend more and more time with him. She demanded stories from his patrols, even if they were more kid friendly versions. She used to love him so, so much.
Sometimes, he wonders if she still loved him at all. Because he loves her. Perhaps even more now that she's gone. He hates himself for loving her more strongly now that she's not here. He should've loved her so much from the start and should've shown it to her.
Today was one of the bad days. He couldn't stop thinking about JoJo. There were some days during which he'd just bury himself and work and distract himself for a while. But today, that didn't work. Maybe he needs sleep, like Alfred has been insisting for the past week.
He knew it probably wouldn't help, but he left Wayne enterprises earlier than usual, went home, and planned to spend the afternoon in bed.
Bruce Wayne was met with a visitor in the manor. "Oh," he let out when he found Jason and Alfred casually enjoying home herbal tea in the kitchen. The dinner was in the oven, some potatoes were boiling on the stove, and there was a murderer sitting on the counter, enjoying his tea. But that murderer was his son.
"Aren't you supposed to be out till at least five?"
"A... change of plans." Bruce responded, the exhaustion clear in his voice. He is surprised to see Jason at the moment, but he has been suspecting that Alfred has been smuggling him in the house when Bruce was away. Since JoJo left, pressure has been building up between Jason and Bruce. There are a lot of emotions that haven't been dealt with.
Those emotions were just about to overflow. It was clear in how Jason refused to look at his father and how he, in return, hurried to excuse himself. But there was no time left and not a single cell in Jason's body that could show any patience at that moment. That's because Batman, in a rare moment of human emotion, looked worn out.
He wasn't planning to sound so aggressive and didn't want his voice to feel like an attack. But it did. "Any news from JoJo?"
That made the bat freeze. He stood on the exit of the kitchen for a solid moment before answering. "No."
"Don't you think that it would be a good idea to... I don't know, start looking for your missing kid?" Jason had many talks with Alfred. Everyone knows this conversation had to happen. He was told that he should be patient and calm. But he was just angry. Angry that his little sister was gone, angry that his father was responsible and, most of all, angry because said dad didn't do shit.
"JoJo is a smart girl. If she does not want to be found, then we should respect her wishes." Bullshit, bullshit and bullshit all around. It was all excuses. He didn't want to tell the truth. Because he is actually actively looking for her. All the time, everywhere. He looks in police files, reports, in airports, in camera footage from wherever he can think of... But he has had no luck so far. That makes him panic internally. He's the greatest detective in the world and has no real leads or any idea where his own daughter is. Admitting that would only make everything worse. It would stress everyone out. At least this way, it looks like he has everything under control. "I didn't kick her out. She knows she's free to show herself whenever she feels like it."
Jason couldn't stop himself, "Or maybe she stormed off in the heat of the moment, got attacked and is now dead in some ditch or alley." His words were venomous and he was aiming to kill. He was done playing into this act. Everyone is pretending nothing is wrong. But he just can't stand it. "But that's not a problem, right? Just replace that kid too."
"Master Todd-"
"No, Alf." He jumps down from the counter, where he was sitting. "You, at the very least, should've made him look for her!"
"Since you're so worried, why don't you look for her yourself?" Bruce asks with no second thought. He looks at his son from over his shoulder.
"You think I haven't?" Jason glares back at him. "But she has left nothing. She's nowhere. People don't just vanish like that. What if the Joker has her? Has had her for all this time and is just-"
"He doesn't." His voice stops having his human tone, instead it's like the dark knight has taken over, stating data from a case. He walks back in and faces him. "I have confirmed the actions of every rogue in Gotham that night and nobody has had anything to do with this. She just left. She was walking down Murphy Avenue. Then she took a sharp left turn and that's it. No sign of her after that, Jason."
"Then it's a meta ability. Or magic. Get the League or Zatanna on it-"
"The League has been on the lookout for the past months with no results. Zatanna didn't locate anything suspicious from there either." Anything Jason, or any other human in fact, could think of, the Batman has thought of months ago.
However, Jason is bolder with his solutions. "What about Constantine? That blonde fucker could be helpful for one time. He could find her whether shes on earth or not."
"Constantine could, but would he? His never helpful. He will find a way to just get what he wants and cover his-"
"Then find someone!" His son yells, "For fuck's shake, do something! Don't just stay there and say there's nothing to be done! You can't be this fucking calm, you just can't!" He shoves his father back. He wasn't trying to start a fight. Just wake him up from this moody state he's always in. "It's JoJo we're talking about! No idea if she's dead or alive and you just go on with your fucking life!"
"Jason, I-" He doesn't know what to say. In this state, he says the first thing he thought of. "I will find her. I promise." Even though realistically he cannot guarantee that.
"You better." With that Jason leaves the kitchen, but not the manor.
JoJo's room was the second largest in the house. If he didn't know better, he'd think it's because she's the favorite. Maybe she once was. But now she must be all the way on the bottom of the list, just like Jason himself is.
Her room is beautiful, like she is. Light comes in from the balcony doors, the bed is made with fluffy pillows and silk sheets and she has more unique personal items than most people get in a lifetime. It's the room of a princess. But instead of fairytale objects she has some drums on the side, a guitar, violin and a small keyboard. Then there's her new ballet shoes on the desk. She had shown one of them herself. The other was finished by Alfred a few days after she left.
The bedroom was a lot more organised than usual. Alfred made sure of that. The papers were organised by subject, her make up was in the drawers under the mirror for once, her books weren't on the floor. Her books... Some of them were his books once.
One of Jason's favorite perks about being an older brother was knowing more than her. He was always smarter and cooler and every kid likes that. Especially an orphan who just was adopted.
So a beloved pastime of his was to just tell her what she should and shouldn't read. He wanted to seem sophisticated so he'd give her books that were too hard for both of them and say he finished it in a day. Yeah, of course he read Anna Karenina in a single patrol. Isn't he the most awesome big brother?
It was nice to know that she had taken all of his books and kept them safe in a box under her bed. That box was sacred. It held her favorite things. Her stuffed toy, Ziggy, action figures of the entire family and among them was his copy of Emma.
But then there were also things he didn't like about her room. Like her closet where her diet chart was hung up, surrounded by paparazzi photos. JoJo was the second most photographed Wayne after Bruce. From infancy to teen years, a camera always followed her. Jason knew how much it bothered her and wished he could help in some way. He has done his fair share of blackmailing to people who'd criticize her every move, but that was never enough.
Because at the end of the day he knew it got to her head. He knew how insecure she'd become. He knew how she felt like she was the least notable, the worst of the family. She wasn't a vigilante and she wasn't a detective and she wasn't a martial artist. She'd open up to him about those things, but he didn't know how to help so he'd just tell her not to worry so much.
If only he could, now he’d tell her how she’s the best one in the family. The most fun, most interesting, most kind and beautiful one of them all. He’d tell her how he cherished the orange cakes she’d make him and how he enjoyed having deep conversations with her on the roof of the manor. He’d tell her that she made him happy and grateful to be back from the dead.
The headline of an article would stare back at him as his thoughts replayed her self-loathing moments. 'Miss Joestar: Officially the most boring Wayne'. He tore up the entire mural in a single move. "Dammit, JoJo..."
He wasn't an awesome brother after all.
Author's Note: Hi!! So... A shift from Bruce to Jason. The JJBA part of it all will come soon, I swear. I am just getting started over here. Also, we do have to give JoJo a name because when the other JoJo's come it will get confusing. I have a few name ideas like Jocelyn or Joanne. I'm leaning to Joanne and I have a small story about how she got her name too.
The next characters I will be diving into will probably be Dick or Cass. I am still thinking about it. But yeah, this is still the first chapter for now, and when we finish with the batfamily, the chapter will end.
I don't know what else to add, I'll see you on the next author's note, byee!<3
All my love, Lady D.
Chapter One.
Part One: A Star's Origin.
(Batfamily x reader x JJBA, platonic)
Gotham was the same as always. During daytime there weren't many things to note about the city. Some kid mugged an old woman, some street gang passed a red traffic light, some lady cried for her rich husband that died last night. The usual scumbags of the city were a lot tamer under daylight. Almost as if they believed they led a double life at night. As if nobody knew of their crimes.
But Bruce knew. He knew what they did at night. He is the night.
He knew that kid was dealing drugs for juniors, he knew that street gang attempted assault on multiple occasions, he knew that the wife poisoned her husband's tea. Tonight he would deal with them, just like he did last night and just like he did the night before. But it's morning now.
Now he's Bruce Wayne and he's heading to Wayne Enterprises. He's just the himbo billionaire and Signal is out there keeping things under control. He's a dumb rich man and he shouldn't worry about anything but keeping and growing his money. Yet there is one thought stuck in his mind and it's the same one that has not let him sleep peacefully in months now.
Where in the world could JoJo be right now?
The day he adopted her was a Spring night. Right at the end of Spring actually. Dick was still his Robin but that night he was in his bed sleeping due to a mild fever. But that night wasn't like the others.
He has been finding cut fingers and other body parts all night. All of them had clues leading to the next one. At the end of the trail there was a penthouse in one of Gotham's most expensive skyscrapers.
One that belonged to Bruce Wayne and only someone who knew his real identity would think to fuck around in.
The image he found in there was one he both expected and wouldn't possibly think of.
The roses on the ground, the smell of various spices mixed with expensive perfume, the sound of jazz melodies from the record player and finally the glimpse of emerald green silk robes was all he needed to know who he was up against.
"Beloved," She spoke up from the couch where she was sitting back, relaxing and humming along to the tone. "Nice to see you've made it."
"What are you doing here?" He speaks with his Batman voice. Like he won't be putting up with any of her bullshit. He will. But she doesn't need to know that.
Their relationship had this fun element back then.
"I've come to visit you, of course." Talia tosses her long, beautiful dark brown hair over her shoulder, her gaze meeting his. "And make you an offer."
There it was. He knew she was up to something. "I'm listening."
He can see her smile as she gets up and carries on, "I was just thinking, beloved. We have been enjoying each other's company for some time now. Wouldn't it be lovely to expand on the bond we have grown?" She then turns around, revealing what even he couldn't expect. "Becoming a family is just the next step we need, don't you think?"
There is a baby in her arms.
His eyes are wide under the hood, but he couldn't let her see she caught him off guard. Firmly he asks, "Talia. Whose kid is that?" He doesn't even consider the baby being hers. He doesn't know why. It could be by some strange way. But he just doesn't. Perhaps because that would mean one of two things. That he either impregnated her or that someone else did. He doesn't know which one he finds more unbelievable than the other.
"Calm down, beloved." She smiles like the Cheshire cat. It's unusual to see her smiling. She never does that. It's unsettling. "Her parents were already dead when I got to them."
"The fingers?" He thinks out loud but he already knows. The finders weren't warm, the blood on them was long dried. They had rotted.
She nods. Then adds, "Remember the Joestars, beloved?" So that's why he hasn't seen the murderous couple in a long time. "They tried betraying us. I was going over to finish the job, but someone got there and beat me to it. Still..." She looks down at the baby in her arms. The infant chuckles, blissfully unaware of both the conversation and how dangerous the woman holding her is. "This little one was left there. Unharmed but also unprotected. She can be my little najm. After all, she needs a mother, no?"
"I am sure there's still some extended family to care for her." Bruce argues with his voice dangerously low. They're talking about a child's life. An innocent baby who has nothing to do with her parent's crimes.
"She doesn't." Talia responded instantly. A beat of silence followed. She knows the bat and she knows he probably doubts her. "You can check for yourself. There's nobody to take her in."
"Child services?"
"You'd rather I leave an infant with them rather than take it in? She can have a loving mother."
"You're hardly fit to be a mother. Let alone a loving one."
"Now, that was needlessly cruel, beloved." She pretends to be hurt as she then continues, "Since you have your own experience with children, why not show her some fatherly love too?"
His eyes narrow. "Talia, I am not playing into whatever family fantasy you have in your head." He wants to just leave at that moment, knowing she gets joy from his reactions. But he cannot. The little baby girl in her arms is what's holding him back. Finally, he didn't take a step back but took a step forward. He wouldn't let this go on for any longer. "And she will get a better future than whatever sick idea you have for her."
She gets the message instantly. "If you don't want to join us, then this is your chance to leave peacefully. But don't even think about taking her away." Her right hand held the baby and the left revealed a dagger in her sleeve, showing this wouldn't be easy.
He was prepared for that.
By the dawn he was bruised and bloody, but he was also the winner of that brawl. It was hard. Perhaps the hardest fight with Talia. She fought tooth and tail, like an angry lioness protecting her own. It would be actually heartbreaking if he didn't know who Talia is. But he does know.
He also knows that this baby would be safer with him than with anyone else.
That's how J. Joestar became a member of the Wayne family.
Author's Note: I am sorry, SINCE WHEN DOES TUMBLR HAVE A CHARACTER LIMIT??! I AM SORRY, WHAT? I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION I WAS FREE TO WRITE AS MUCH AS MY HEART DESIRES OVER HERE????
I'm honestly so sorry to split this into more than one part. Believe me, I prefer my writing not being broken into different parts. On the good news, since I was writing this as a whole the next part should be out pretty soon, so be on the look out for that.
So, during this part, we got JoJo's origin story and Bruce's relationship with Talia. I have a lot more things to cover on both topics, for sure. I won't go into much detail for the first one. However, the Bruce and Talia thing... It's a complicated story for me. I loved Talia's character until... That happened. I don't know why we had to make such an interesting character a r*****. Her relationship with Bruce could be so complex and interesting and an actual debate for fans. Fans could have a choice between shipping him with Talia or Selina. But I get this is comics and not a shipping playground. Still, I don't get why we have to do that with her character. There are so many more interesting ways to deal with her.
Anyway, I wanted to clear out that my universe doesn't follow a single continuity but is influenced by many. And yeah, Talia doesn't r*** Bruce in this one. <3
That's all from me, see you soon. With all my love, Lady D.
Batfamily x reader x JJBA introduction post!
This is awkward. This is my first post, and I really have no idea how to start, but basically just have weird ideas, and sometimes I write them out. This is the first time I share them with the world, so here we go I guess.
Basically, this is an abomination of some kind between 2 Fandoms and includes a reader character, so yeah. I was thinking for a name for the reader character, but for now, it's just the reader. Oh, also, the reader character is a female. It's kinda important for the plot so I am sorry, but I'll think of something in which the gender is not specified in the future.
This post will introduce some of the main themes of this story, like destiny, rehabilitation, and honestly, just a celebration of humanity, as Araki puts it. This is just a little rundown of the premise and some ideas, I guess. Finally, I'd like to clarify that none of these characters belong to me. The Batman characters belong to DC, and the JJBA characters belong to Araki.
So, at last, let's begin.
Starting off with some details for the reader character. We're gonna be calling her JoJo for now, and I have thought of two possible origins. First, her being a biological daughter of Bruce Wayne and Talia Al Ghul, which ties with some later themes. But also, I have thought of her being an adoptive child. Honestly, the only reason I want her to be biological is because this makes more sense for Talia since she cares for that type of stuff. But honestly, it seems a bit too main-character for me (which is ironic since this is a x reader post).
So, for now, let's just say she's not actually biological. In fact, let's say she's the daughter of some respected assassins and generally criminal people. People Talia trusted and respected enough to take in their newborn once they died. She kept their baby for some months, creating some bond. Also, important to note that this takes place before Damian is born, around the time when Dick is Robin and Barbara Batgirl. (The timeline might not make sense. I am sorry, DC timeline is a bit confusing, but I'm trying my best).
The bond Talia creates with the infant is what pushes her to want to create more members to the 'family' she has in her head where she is the mom and Batman, the father and all that. Fortunately, Bruce saves the baby from this madness (Talia doesn't take that well and keeps on stalking the girl for the entire life, 'protecting' her). Now, unfortunately, we all know how Talia's maternal instincts end for Bruce. Also, for the time being, he's left with a baby, which he knows to be a descendent of the Joestars, an unbeatable criminal duo.
Of course, with Bruce's irresistible urge to take in orphans, it's needless to say how this situation was solved. That's how JoJo became a member of the Wayne family. Currently, she's about 17-18 and is basically the self we all wished we could be if we had infinite money. She knows countless languages and how to play about a dozen instruments. She's going to private school and both a somewhat good social life and is the peak of her classes. She's a very artistic girl. She's also polite, too, as most people who know her say. Superman likes her personality a lot (Superuncle fic when?). She, of course, has problems too. For example, with the way she looks and how ruthless the media have been about criticizing everything she does.
But that's her life. Living in the Wayne Manor, with Alfred keeping her company when she needs and her family being vigilantes. Honestly, she has no idea about her backstory and doesn't need to. All she knows (as well as most of the world) of the name Joestar is what she does and is somewhat proud of it.
As for relationships with her family. Dick is obviously easy to get along with and has been there for her since day one. Barbara is like an older sister but also the voice of logic in her chaotic brain. With Tim and Steph, she enjoys both the company individually and as a group. Duke is this newbie that looks up to her since she looks so used to all this, but she just wants to look cool in front of him. Cass and Jason are her favorites for widely different reasons (might elaborate some other time). But Damian? He creeps her out a bit. Since he has been nice to her from the start and she just couldn't understand why the hell. (Talia. She convinced her son JoJo is his sister and he should respect and always protect her since she's weaker). Finally, her relationship with her dad? Rocky. Bruce isn't the father of the year, but he's trying, and she recognizes that. However, sometimes, he's frustrating. And she's a teen. And teens have a lot of emotions. And teens need to cook off. And teens storm out to do that. And teens occasionally might disappear for a few months due to that.
Yeah, that's the kickstart. JoJo disappears after a fight with her father and that's when some events start playing out involving stand users and arrows and ripple and spin and the whole lot.
However, this is the point where I need to spin the narrative and talk about the other side of our reader, the JoJo, or maybe better, the mom.
For a while, I was thinking of how it would be possible to mix the two JJBA universes in one for a small story, and this is what I came up with. Basically, making the Joestar family... A family. As in, make all the JoJos from all 9 parts siblings. Yeah. This is gonna be fun, right?
And JoJo from earlier, the Wayne adopted one? She's the mother who adopted all those kids. She got it from her dad, I guess.
Oh, and as for the father... Worry about that later <3
But yeah. All of the kids are adopted (or maybe not all of them;)). But some of them are related. More of then than you would think.
First of all, the oldest is, of course, the gentleman, Jonathan. Then there's Joseph. Both of them were adopted when they were infants, but on two different separate occasions and countries so not related. With Jotaro is where the bizarre starts. Trust the process. Jotaro is the younger brother of Jolyne.
Jotaro was living with his mom and sister when something tragic happened, and basically, Jolyne shot a man dead for hurting their mother and trying to hurt them too. She was protecting her brother, but she ended up in juvenile, and Jotaro was taken in by the mom.
Now there's Josuke, who's the younger brother of who will be the stand-in for our part 8 JoJo. Aka Josuke is the younger brother of Josephumi. Their mother, Tomoko, was friends with the mom and died, so she offered to adopt them. Josuke agreed, but Josephumi wanted to stay with family in Morioh where she had his own friends. She respected his wishes and lt him stay with the Higashikata family.
Now, Giorno is an easy one. He's obvious brothers with Jodio and Dragona (All the others sons of Dio too), but through a different mother. He was Italian, got involved in the mafia, and oh well, now he's adopted and basically rules the underworld in both Europe, through Italy and America, through Gotham.
Johnny is a pretty simple one. He was disowned by his family and basically got adopted by the mom and even though she showed him kindness he was a brat for some times but eventually warmed uo to her and basically only her until the events of his part, where he got some character development.
It was right about now, some years after Josuke got adopted by her that Josephumi would ask if the mom's offer was still standing and if he could be adopted and since he wasn't 18 yet, she did adopt him. Finally, about Jodio... Well, let's just say he's not adopted.
The events of the story from this side occur when one day, the mom goes missing out of the blue and, well, something bizarre is happening in Morioh, too.
Some mystery, some fluff, some angst. Basically, what I want to showcase with this story is a humans ability to experience life in a unique way and make choices based on that experience. This leads one to ask whether or not a person's choices are predetermined by fate, which gave them the experience (based on which they act) or if there's any free will in the decisions.
I have no idea how this will go and how whether or not I will actually write this out one day. But hey, I wrote so much so that's something I guess.
Thank you for your time. I know I wrote a lot, and honestly, it's very encouraging that you stuck around until the end of my yapping session. Also, congratulations on your attention span. It's awesome. Thank you, and have a great day.
