The funniest statement around is, "Pakistan copied Indian food".
The Indian cuisine you are familiar with is North Indian cuisine, which is very familiar to Eastern Pakistan (Punjab) cuisine. Why? Well because they share the same influence over them; the Mughuls. Mughuli cuisine and culture in general, is very much influenced by the Persian's, Afghan's and Uzbek's. The only difference in our food is that we prefer a lot more spices, compared to their more mild flavour.
Both East Pakistan and North India both have half of the Punjab Province, hence both countries share the same ethnic group and ultimately, the same cuisine. However, the other cultural groups of Pakistan and India are very different from one another. South India food, which is said to be spicier and less creamier than North India, is very different from anything you'll find in Pakistan. While the variety of culture and dishes in Northern, Eastern, and South- Western Pakistan are something you won't find in India.
So basically, Pakistan didn't copy Indian cuisine, which is a funny statement seeing as we were also one country under British India, but North Indian and Eastern Pakistani food are similar but have their differences. Beef, palau and kebabs are highly consumed and are part of Pakistani cuisine, while Indians prefer more vegetarian options and of course, their famous Butter chicken.
