WWG@Kyocera Dome summary, thoughts II: 17th, 18th June
└ This is NOT a report, just my recollections, pictures and summary cos I’m not fluent in Japanese. Hence, the warnings. I initially thought I’d update the old post, but decided to combine for both dates, so that it’s more logical to read instead of jumping from one post to another. Any mistakes I make due to something lost in translation or my misinterpretation, for my at-times aimless rambling, my apologies. Here we go.
Anyway, here’s my seat on 17/6:
And here’s my seat for 18/6 morning:
Binoculars are with me, so all is well and good.
The five colours ‘flow’ into Kyocera Dome and transition into live feed of the five ready to come out to meet us.
17/6 session: Sexy Zone is introduced with great aplomb and humour as they are made to race for first place through an obstacle course with hurdles (that Nakajima trips over; OUCH!), net laid on the ground they have to crawl under, narrow benches to walk across on, suspended doughnuts, footballs to be dribbled around obstructing cones, vaulting horses and they have to suddenly veer up the stairs to cross the finishing line. Shori came in first, but sorry I couldn’t see who came after, just that Marius brought the race to a close. They were all breathless, as were we… with tears of laughter.
18/6 morning session: The younger boys were probably deemed too tired just from the previous day’s introduction cos the day’s starting race for Sexy Zone had bikes incorporated, instead of making them run the stretch between the narrow bench balance and the suspended doughnuts.
The net crawling stretch was removed. Pleased to say with other things remaining the same, I was in pole position to see who the first runner was to reach the stage. Not only was the net completely removed, so was the football dribbling section. Although Shori led at the start, it was Fuma who came in first and Nakajima who was the last finisher. They were still quite breathless in the short intro following the race, but not as winded as the 17/6 session.
The purple stage; should’ve seen the hints that pointed to it being for Jun-kun’s lesson.

2017.03.16 AD - It's time to say goodbye.
Good morning. This is Arashi’s Ohno Satoshi. Here’s today’s thought of the day; come on! “It’s time to say goodbye, but I think goodbyes are sad and I’d much rather say hello. Hello to a new adventure.” [BGM ‘season’] That was easily understood English! This is a quote by American sportscaster Ernie Harwell-san. Translated into Japanese, it means that it’s time to bid farewell, but farewells are sad so one would rather say hello. Hello is a new adventure. This was sent in by listener Rina-san of Chiba. The message reads: “Good morning. It’s already spring. I stopped the part-time job that I’ve been doing for a year and a half in February. In Spring I’ll be a 3rd year high-school student, a student taking exams. Also I’ll be changing classes. Spring is when the environment changes, so there’ll be a lot of new things. To me, it’s also a season of worries, but I’ll look to my goals and do my best. Satoshi-kun, what is Spring to you?” I see. Well, when there’s a lot of new circumstances, there are bound to be worries. Mm. There are, but well, there are also new encounters. New discoveries. Well, I’d like you to think positively and do your best. But well, it’ll be okay. It’ll be okay. Right, so on that note. This show, Arashi Discovery, will be airing its last episode on the 31st of this month. [BGM 'Tabidachi no Asa’] Yeah. Well, sudden as it may be, but well, Kurihara-san’s program 'Morning Steps’ will also be ending. So well, at the same time, it means that we’re ending on the 31st of this month. Well, but really… Since 1st October 2002. That was the start. It’s been 14 and a half years! I’ve been doing this for 14 and a half years. Man, but really, to all the folks who have been listening all this time; thank you very much. Really, for 14.5 years. How many times is that? Um, it’s 5 days a week, and then there’s 52 weeks in a year. So that’s 260 times a year. And that’s 14.5 years. So that’s… 3770 days. Well, there were days in there where we didn’t broadcast. So I’ve been talking for about 3750 days. At first there was the 3-choice quiz. So on that note, for the next week, well, it’ll be a bit of a special. For the next 2 weeks. Next week, for the first time in a while, I’ll be talking to Kurihara-san directly on radio. We haven’t done so since the 10th anniversary. Mm. It’s been a while. I’d like to talk amongst the 2 of us for the special version that we’ll broadcast. Please look forward to it! That’s all; this was Ohno Satoshi! —– I honestly don’t know how to process this. I’ve always said that I’ll translate AD for as long as it airs, but deep down I somehow imagined (knowing how fickle and inconsistent I am) I would fall out of fandom before the show would end. Arashi shows have ended before and it’s always a sad affair, but I’ve been translating this show for over 5 years and I guess this is just hitting me a lot harder than the others :/
