coincidences better left unquestioned // Ruki
Ah, the library. Ruki had been spending a lot of his time there since his arrival, taking sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of the school building to hide between the shelves. It was empty the great majority of the time - or very nearly so - and had a wider variety of reading material than he had anticipated when he first entered it. Ruki did not view himself as a reclusive creature. He was not afraid of others, nor of speaking out when people displeased him. He simply found that the tiny library was a place of solace in an unfamiliar environment filled with unfamiliar people.
He had not been there long. In fact, he’d intended only to return a book he’d finished earlier that day. But as he slid the small volume back onto the shelf between its counterparts, he heard a quiet shuffle of movement behind him. Someone had entered the library. They moved almost silently, erasing any chance that they were human - the great majority of humans stomped their feet as they walked, making the most horrendous racket. Sniffling slowly at the air, he lifted an eyebrow at an all too familiar scent.
Ruki did not need to look round to know who his companion was but did so anyway, turning his head to glance over his shoulder at the pale figure of his youngest brother. "Azusa." He offered the boy a small twist of his lips and a short nod. As the first of his brothers that Ruki had seen on the island, the grey-haired boy was a welcome sight. Taking a moment to turn fully so that his whole body was facing Azusa, Ruki folded his arms over his chest.
Taking in the familiar facial scars and the almost timid manner with which the boy held himself, he suppressed a smirk. Just the same as always. "So it would seem," He spoke after a moment, lifting a hand to scratch idly at the slope of his neck. "I am here and have been for several days now - you are not seeing things." A pause, and then. "Have you seen any of your brothers?"
A small chuckle leaves his lips, and Azusa replies, “… I’m glad,” joyfully. Meeting face to face with his older brother after a few days of separation is quite the biggest load off his shoulders. Honestly, without Ruki, he wouldn’t know what to do, or where to go most of the time, sadly. Not something he isn’t use to however, for he is one that spent most of his life wandering aimlessly, trying to find a place in the harsh world.
Ah, well…
To answer the eldest brother’s question, Azusa simply replies with a small shake of his head. The relaxed smile that is on his feature turns into a frown. How odd for Ruki, and himself to be here, but not the others. Either it’s the fact they aren’t here, or Azusa didn’t look hard enough. He can only do so much in one place... Sometimes he felt really hopeless.
The bandaged boy twirls a lock of his hair with his finger as he hums, “I wonder… If they’re lost too. I don’t know what this place is… Although, it’s not bad,” he pauses, realizing his opinion on the island isn’t what Ruki is looking for most likely.
“Kou… And Yuma…” He mumbles the two missing brothers’ names as he ponders, “Hm… Still, I haven’t seen either of them… I’m sorry. If you’re angry, you can punish me- it’s okay…”
