Watch: Itâs your right to share your salary, not doing so could be holding you back.
At my last company, one day someone in accounting approached me at lunch and quietly told me I need to ask for a raise because I was way underpaid.
They gave me a number to shoot for. Â It was about twice than what I had been making at the time.
So I went online, did some research, found some figures backing up my claim, put it all together and went to my boss.
I got what I asked for.
If it hadnât been for that person in accounting telling me I was way underpaid, Iâd have never known. Â I went from barely scraping by to being able to have a savings account and getting all my debts paid thanks to them.
You should at least check sites like salary.com to start the process of seeing what you should be making.
Because this is crucially important
Except for the fact that 90% of the time you are under contract not to talk about your salary otherwise the company can sue you. Every job Iâve had Iâve had to sign that I wonât discuss my pay with other employees otherwise my employment is terminated and the company will take legal action.Â
Itâs actually illegal for companies to forbid wage discussion, theyâre just counting on you not knowing your rights.
Important
Fuck.
If you scrolled right past this - GO THE FUCK BACK UP - this is a huge PSA
jfc Iâll be having some words with some folks
How it feels to be stabbed
Getting stabbed is an experience that no one in their right mind would want to have. But, what if you do get stabbed? What would that feel like?
It usually feels like youâre being punched.
The description of being punched really hard comes up a lot when people describe the experience. One woman said she didnât even realize she was being stabbed, she just thought her attacker was punching her as hard as he could. Many people donât feel the actual puncturing, just the force of the knife hitting them.
You might feel nothing at all.
This wasnât as common as the feeling of being hit, but some people said they literally felt nothing. One person said they felt nothing, but their brain started racing and their fight or flight kicked in. Another didnât realize someone stabbed them until they saw that they were bleeding profusely.
Occasionally, it feels like you got shocked.
A few stab wound survivors described it as a very quick, but powerful, electric shock. One person described it as static electricity, while another said it was like lightening hitting them. The pain of the initial shock goes away as quickly as it occurred.
Eventually, over time, itâs probably going to hurt.
Of course the location of the stab wound effects how much it would hurt. Getting stabbed in the arm isnât going to hurt as badly as a stab that punctured a lung. But after a while, you will most likely feel some pain. If the person wiggles the knife while itâs still in you, the pain may be more intense.
Reblogging for future reference. Most Rychillan weapons are daggers or bows/crossbows.
If you write a strong character, let them fail.
If you write a selfless hero, let them get mad at people.
If you write a cold-heated villain, let them cry.
If you write a brokenhearted victim, let them smile again.
If you write a bold leader, let them seek guidance.
If you write a confident genius, let them be wrong, or get stumped once in a while.
If you write a fighter or a warrior, let them lose a battle, but let them win the war.
If you write a character who loses everything, let them find something.
If you write a reluctant hero, give them a reason to join the fight.
If you write a gentle-hearted character who never stops smiling, let that smile fade and tears fall in shadows.
If you write a no one, make them a someone.
If you write a sibling, let them fight and bicker, but know that at the end of the day theyâll always have each otherâs back.
If you write a character, make them more than just a character; give them depth, give them flaws and secrets, and give them life.
soooooooooo about thatâŚâŚ.
The goatpocalypse is upon us. (via KTVBJoe)
Updates have since come on this subject; we now know where the goats came from and I gotta tell you, it is better than you could possibly imagine. See.
These goats got loose from a goat rental service.
You may be thinking, who rents a goat? Who rents a hundred goats? What are they for?
Theyâre for eating.
Specifically, theyâre for eating unwanted, flammable vegetation that can contribute to the spread of wildfires. Some people whose property tends to grow such vegetation, keep their own goats. But for some people it works out better to just rent some goats.
So.
These are Professional Eating Goats. They are trained to thoroughly and methodically scour an area of plantlife. And they came to the suburbs.
And they did their jobs.
Iâm so proud of them.
One of My Stupidest Campaign Ideas to Date
You know how most D&D campaigns are just faux-medieval Europe with magic and monsters added in with very little consideration as to how the existence of magic and monsters would affect an actual medieval society
Well why not cut the middle man and just run it in medieval Europe with magic and monsters with absolutely no consideration as to how that would have affected society
Go on a quest to steal Charlemagneâs +5 sword Joyeuse
Go and help fight the tarrasque in France
Go fight a giant snail because apparently those assholes were all over the place in the middle ages
GM: *rolls on random treasure table* And you find a holy relic⌠*rolls again* uh, Christâs foreskin +5
Players: +5 to what
GM: Foreskin
Follow in Dante Alighieriâs footsteps and go on a dungeon crawl/spiritual journey to Hell (for character levels 11-20)
Get a medieval bestiary, scribble some stats in the margins, bam, Monster Manual
Iâm gonna play a Bard
I dub this game: shitty Ars Magica
This guy gets it
A DnD campaign with actual creatures from medieval bestiaries/lore would be amazing. Need a new monster? What about the bonnacon and its flaming sharts:
Instead of berserkers, try bunnies:
Monks are Benedictine friars who are somehow amazing at martial arts. Your druid is literally just the Green Knight.
And the weird stuff from bestiaries applies to âreal lifeâ animals too. Bees behave the exact same in this world except itâs also common knowledge that they spontaneously generate from ox corpses.
Your first boss fight is this thing.
Aww, I love him.
A shoujo story where you need to hide from (or kill) your generic bishounen senpai because you accidentally saw him in his man-eating monster state and the only way you can detect his presence is when you nosebleed when they have their eyes on you.
The first time that you noticed something was strange with Sempai happened shortly into the school year. It was just a simple thought that started it off, an idle musing while you sat with your friends at lunch. Youâre in class 1-C, which means that every student older than you is a sempai. There are 6 classes in each of the two years above you, 12 classes, and about 36 students in each class, about 430 students. Thereâs 10 sports clubs, including both boys and girls clubs, 9 cultural and hobby clubs that you know about, and of course the student council and each and every single one of them them has a respected upperclassman in charge. But whenever you mention the word Sempai, everyone knows who youâre talking about. Even though no one mentions his name. In fact, you arenât even sure if he has a name, let alone what it is. You havenât listened in to any of his classes, not that youâd want to, but youâre certain that not even the teachers call him. But everyone knows who the Sempai in Class 3-A is.Â
And everyone likes him, you rarely hear a bad word about him outside of âhe wonât look my way!â from his admirers. Heâs handsome and well dressed, but not arrogant. Heâs polite, soft-spoken, but charismatic. Heâs intelligent and attentive, but humble. Heâs strong and quick witted, but always gentle. He can cook, garden, do calligraphy, arrange flowers, and tutors just as well as the teachers. By all accounts, heâs perfect. You never thought that could happen outside of fiction, and⌠itâs weird. No one else seems to think itâs strange, by the way they chatter about him, but⌠the fact that he was perfect was weird of its own. Heâs flawless, even the fact that he wasnât dating anyone was alluring. And yet⌠itâs weird.
âLook! There he is!â Kiyo-chan giggles, and you automatically know who she is talking about before you look. Heâs down by the garden, tending to some flowers. You look just for a moment, more interested in how many other eyes are on him. Sure enough, in this classroom alone, everyone by the window is looking down at him. Except for you. Why? Why is everyone so interested in him? What is it about him that draws all eyes? You look again, and suddenly, the innocence of the scene, of him simply smelling a flower, raises a couple hairs on your neck. He looks up, and you swear that his eyes meet yours. Fear floods you, and you unconsciously clap your hands to your face, even though youâre silent. âMiya-chan?â Kiyo-chanâs looking at you now. The infatuated glow of her face dying to concern. âAre you okay? Your nose is bleeding.â You pull your hand back to confirm, and sure enough, your fingertips are dotted with red. âMaaaybe sheâs thinking of something else she wants Sempai to smell!â Ayano-chan teases. But your eyes are on Sempai again. Heâs back to the flowers, but for some reason, the scene doesnât look as innocent anymore. But you canât be sure why. â- You find out why a few days later. It was another idle musing at lunch. 3-A had a mock exam to go over last yearâs concepts, and Sempai got 100%. Itâs only been a couple hours, but already youâve heard six times how Sempai is so smart and wonderful. Itâs not that big of a deal, you think to yourself as you open up your box lunch. By the sounds of the giggling, you could tell that Sempai was eating his lunch in the garden again. You donât want to look, after what happened the last time. It made you feel too uneasy, but your mind itched with curiosity. Why is everyone so interested in Sempai like that? As far as you know, at least three other upperclassmen got 100, but no one was talking about them. For that matter, why did Sempai have so muchâŚ. focus on him? âOh eww, that creep Kutou is down there too!â You heard one of your classmates say, and thatâs what got you to look. Kutou was in 2-E, and no one really thought heâd amount to anything. The only reason you heard about him was because he was one of those rare social outcasts that everyone loved to hate. He was part of the delinquents, with a tissue stuck up his nose all the time, but even they didnât talk to him much. Rumor has it, the whole reason he was ostracized was because he didnât seem to like Sempai. Heâd always look disgusted when Sempai was nearby, or walking away whenever he came near. And yet, there he was, hiding down by the garden bed, watching Sempai. âWhy is he so close to Sempai?â Kiyo-chan hisses at you, and all you can answer with is a shrug. âLook, ignore him. Looks like Sempai is eating his own cooking today!â Ayano-chan squeals. And their attention shifts. You glance, and you donât see anything too exciting for them to giggle about. Rice, tamagoyaki, sausages⌠itâs the same lunch youâre eating. You attention turns back to Kutou, and so you catch the horror in his expression. Heâs staring transfixed at Sempai, face looking as though he was going to throw up in fear and disgust. âSempaiâs talkingâŚwait, is he talking at Kutou?â You think Kiyo-chan is right, because Kutou just froze up. You donât pay any mind to the conversation Kiyo and Ayano have, because youâre too busy watching Sempai walk closer to Kutou. He holds up his box lunch, and by the way Sempai smiles, he offers some. Kutou shakes his head, hand clapped to his face like heâs going to throw up and he runs. âWow! Kutou has some nerve refusing Sempaiâs cooking!â âIf it were me, Iâd love to eat Sempaiâs food.â âOoooh, straight from his chopsticks too!â You donât even care about what your friends are saying, because you saw two things strange. The boxed lunch looked gross to you too. When you saw it earlier, it looked normal. But now, it almost looks like⌠raw, bloody meat. Brains or intestines or something long and squishy curled up in an innocent plastic bento box. Why did you think for a moment that it looked like what you had? You  glance at yours, as if to see if it was an illusion, but yours is fine and⌠Sempaiâs remained the same grotesque thing it was before. Was that just a trick of your imagination, seeing it normal? What about the blood on Kutouâs hand, when he covered up his face? You swore you could see red on his sleeve⌠as if he was covering a nosebleed. You find Kutou after classes. You told Kiyo and Ayano that you had to go to the library, but really you went to find the delinquents. You kept a hoodie over your head so no one would talk about you going to see them. Kutou wasnât too hard to find on the way, sitting in the gym by the stairs to the stage. Itâs dark, with only the setting sun illuminating half the gym. As always, he was alone. He looks up at you and heâs already on the defensive. âWhat? Are you one of Sempaiâs fangirls too? Iâll beat you up.â Heâs snarling, glaring, like a dog thatâs been kicked too many times and expects another. You also notice he has a fresh tissue in his nose and dried blood on his sleeve. âWhy do you⌠hate Sempai?â You say your words carefully, trying not to sound confrontational, like youâre not even sure how to phrase it. But it still sets him off and he sits up straight. âWhy? Because heâs a freak! Everyone goes on about how great he is, and thatâs weird on itâs own! No one else seems to see it, but heâs a monster! Those eyes⌠they canât be human andââ âThe box lunch.â You find yourself compelled to mention. He stops and looks at you. âI-It was gross. Like⌠red and raw andâŚâ He stares at you and completes your sentence. âOrgans. He was eating human organs. And everyone thought it was fine. Heâs always eating that stuff, but no one seems to notice. They think itâs normal.â âIt l-looked normal. Until you started talking at him andâŚ.â The hands on your shoulders make you jump. Kutou is close to you, and you can feel the shaking in his arms. âYou can see through it too. You can see him for what he really is. I-I thoughtâ It was weird⌠h-how heâs always in Class 3-A. Even last year heââ You both stop, because you hear footsteps coming from the hallway. He freezes, as if fearing the worst. You are about to ask him what heâs going on, but he shoves you off the stairs, behind them. âKeep quiet!â You barely hear his hissed command over your impact, but you stay pressed against the stairs, out of sight. âHello, Kutou-san.â Itâs Sempaiâs voice, and youâre suddenly thankful that the dark shadows hide your navy hoodie. âYouâre alone as always.â âS-Stay away!â Kutou sounds terrified, but Sempai laughs. âWhy are you so afraid of me, Kutou-san? Iâve tried time and time again to be your friend.â Sempai sounds closer. You cover your mouth to avoid any sound, any distraction. Please, please⌠donât let Sempai notice me⌠âI-I know wh-what you are⌠Y-Youâre h-horrifying⌠a-and⌠a-andâŚâ ââŚYour nose is bleeding again, Kutou⌠you really should go to the nurseâs. Come, let me take you.â âN-NO! S-Stay away! Youâre just going to eat me o-orââ âEat you? whatever could make you thinkâŚâ Sempaiâs tongue clicks, as if something just occured to him. ââŚAhh⌠so thatâs why youâre afraid⌠I always thought you were jealous of me, thatâs all but⌠I never knew how special you were, Kutou-kunâŚâ Itâs just a slight change, but your terrified mind notices the honorific. Why, why was he acting so close⌠ why did his voice get so soft?! âSo you pay that much attention to me⌠I never thought Iâd meet someone who cared that muchâŚâ âS-Stay away! Stay away! L-Let me go!!!â Kutou is screaming, struggling. But Sempai sounds closer. âKutou-kun⌠You see me for who I really am⌠Iâm so thankful I met youâŚâ Sempai doesnât seem to notice. Kutou screams louder, almost pained untilâ You hear something snap, several somethings breaking all at once. Youâre terrified to look but you have to. You feel compelled. And so you caution a peek over the stairs. Youâre lucky Sempai wasnât facing you, his arms wrapped tight around Kutouâs limp body. You are silent with terror when you realize Kutouâs arms are bent , eyes wide, two rivers of blood trailing from his nose down his chin, his torso indented, squeezed⌠broken. Sempai doesnât seem to notice Kutouâs dead in his arms; his own eyes are closed and thereâs a smile on his face, enough that you can see sharp incisors between his lips. âI wonât ever let you go, Kutou-kun⌠I love you too.â Your knees fail you and you thankfully sink silent to the floor. Sempai leaves soon after, talking to the corpse in his arms, voice soft and honeyed like a loverâs. The next day, people say that Kutou got into a fight and was expelled. Sempai looks the same as ever, everyone talks about how radiant he is, the same as ever. You refuse to look down at the garden when Sempaiâs having his lunch. Youâre too afraid to see Kutouâs face in the box. You stare transfixed at your meal. You told your mom that you donât feel like tamagoyaki, you might not ever again, so she made you onigiri. âSempaiâs looking this way!â Kiyo-chan squeals, and you feel a shudder of fear go up your spine. The onigiri in your hands dots red and you lower your head. Please⌠please⌠Donât let Sempai notice meâŚ.Â
Reblogging for the fic. Honestly I had no idea Iâd end up liking shoujo-horror so much butâŚ
âA cage of my own designâ a poem by Laforo
Itâs a cage of my own design,
Where comfort is my keeper.
The silence, a deafening roar that never escapes my lips.
I know the pain is temporary,
And the silence safeguarded by my anxiety.
Itâs a cage of my own design,
Where half-truths, and lies reign supreme.
Where the loneliness will keep me safe,
And all the walls are built by me.
Itâs a cage of my own design,
And to the outside it looks divine.
Where secret feelings and loose tears fall,
And wanting to see the good and bad,
Outside my walls.
Itâs a cage of my own design,
Where everything is built by me.
One day I will dismantle it,
And one day,
I will be free.
You could be the moonlight ě´ëëĄ ě°ëŚŹ ěěíě Forever â¤ď¸

Seeking Content Writers
Looking to write professionally? Want to break into freelancing without hunting the job boards or spending hours on proposals? Freelancing already and want to add a steady client to your list?
November Ink is seeking talented writers to add to our team â ones interested in writing blog posts, newsletters, articles, product reviews, product descriptions, comparison pieces (pros and cons of certain products when compared to one another), and/or web content (âaboutâ pages, âserviceâ pages, etc.).Â
As an online content marketing business, made up of freelancers and full-time professionals, weâd love to welcome some talented wordsmiths aboard!
Since November Ink is a content provider, we have a range of clients and therefore require a range of content covering different topics. Some of these topics would include (but are not limited to): fashion, tech, travel, DIY, food, back-to-school, home improvement, pets, and other topics.
If youâre interested, email [email protected] for more details and answers to any of your questions.Â
In the meantime, hereâs a brief outline of the position:
This will be ongoing and regular work for the right writers. The assignments will be as few as one piece of content to write per week and as many as fifteen pieces. Have a flexible or inflexible schedule? The only requirement is that you meet the deadlines you agree to.
You donât need to be a professional writer with a degree â just good at what you do and capable of providing high quality content.
The starting rate is $10 per 500 words. However, product reviews are more complicated and will receive payment of up to $30-$40 per 1,200 words, depending on the quality of your writing. This can increase based on the content, the turnaround time, and the research needed.
Three revisions per article are allowed until we get the hang of things together.
Payment can be made through PayPal, Google Wallet, or another site of your choice. Payment will always be made, save a case where the work is not delivered by the deadline, or the work delivered is unusable and must be reassigned to another writer. Since November Ink is made up of professionals whoâve all worked freelance at one time or another, we stand by this value. Even if a client doesnât follow through, youâll be paid for your high quality, timely work.Â
When youâre given an assignment, youâll be provided with all the necessary details to begin, including the word count minimum, the title, a brief outline, any SEO keywords needed, special requirements, etc.
If youâre interested in a certain topic (fitness, career change, parenting, etc.), you can request assignments within that niche. If youâre assigned a topic you believe youâll struggle with, you can decline it and request another one, and weâll do our best to make a good fit in future assignments.
Youâll be given a weekâs notice for most assignments, with all information given at the time of the order. Of course, you decide how much youâd like to take on considering your schedule, and how frequently. The faster you deliver, the more work we can provide you.
The delivery times of assignments can be flexible, but letting us know ahead of time is crucial. Two to three daysâ notice at the least is deeply appreciated.
Since youâll be working on a freelance basis, so long as youâre able to submit quality work on time, are willing to do revisions if necessary, and can stay in regular communication as needed, the rest is entirely in your control. You deliver high quality writing, we deliver payment for your hard work. Thatâs the beauty of freelance!
If youâre interested or would like to know more, please email the address above.Â
Please provide samples of previous writing when you contact us, as this will be how we gauge your style and abilities. If theyâre freshly written or not currently published, thatâs fine!
We look forward to working with you. Happy writing!
