The key to writing good fanfiction is to harbor a deeply humiliating desire, and the trick there is that even pretty basic and societally-accepted desires like “being held” and “being wanted” CAN and WILL be humiliating if they’re intense enough. Become so estranged from human connection that the idea of someone playing with your hair fills you with yearning so deep you feel like you’re going to throw up and you will write some banger fanfiction. It might have some other consequences too but idrk about that.

the longer i am a fan of life is strange the more i become a mindless chloe price defender. because what the fuck am i even defending???

chloe being reasonably upset max ghosted her for five years, but regardless will immediately accept max back into her life???

chloe being traumatized because everyone in her life has either died or left her?

chloe being rude to people that seemingly gave up on her a long time ago??? (and to max, but not only does chloe apologize multiple times over the game when it gets to a point— but god fucking forbid a girl be rude in a week where her whole life is getting upheaved.)

chloe lashing out because she is being physically and verbally abused by her stepdad that her mother refuses to take seriously????

chloe being “obsessed” with finding her reason for being alive for the past 5 years now that max has a superpower and they actually have a Real Chance of finding her now? (mind you chloe doesn’t even fucking mention rachel when she offers max to sacrifice her. let’s use our context clues to what this could mean)

chloe viewing max as a superhero because she has an actual superpower and max plays into chloe’s excitement because it makes her feel good????

chloe well-meaningly encouraging max to explore and be more confident in herself, and consequently her superpower? and because chloe is too a simple 19 year old girl— who just got a new hope in her life after 6 months of being passively suicidal and 5 years of putting herself in dangerous situations because she is passively suicidal— neither did she forsee the consequences of abusing max’s powers?

and half of the shit max did with her powers was completely not of chloe’s will or encouragement, but max’s own. most of chloe hate is really just stripping max’s own autonomy in their dynamic and whole situation.

idk man. it really just feels like chloe hate stems from people erasing max’s character, using her as a self insert, and then getting mad when other characters treat her like Max and not the player. but whatever.
