When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer.
Psalm 94 (via raised-from-the-grave)
Our walk with God sometimes, is not a “walk” but a weak, tired, crawl, sometimes it’s a climb up mountains of trials. But nevertheless if we’re walking, crawling, or climbing, God is right along side us; faithfully leading us through.
Lessons I’m learning in this crazy thing called “life.” (via hoiyanviv)
Have You Ever Forced Yourself To Love?
Have you ever found yourself amidst a relationship, often pausing...
and then asking yourself:
How did I get here?
How did my fingers become intertwined with his fingers?
How did my emotions got entangled with another human being?
Even after pausing to reflect on these questions, I continued on. Simply because I, the child of a broken home, was determined to know what "true love" was.
So I let my hand be held by Mr.Wrong, I invested time that should've been directed towards academics on Mr.Wrong, I wrote long love letters to Mr.Wrong... (not only to convince this guy that I was into him, but even more-so to reassure myself that I was actually in love with him)
And I was successful.
I allowed myself to become romantically involved and I fell hard for this guy who ultimately really had no intensions of catching me. I became sick of repeatedly having to convince myself that I was in love and that someone loved me...
So I dared to ask him a simple question, "do you see us married?"
His predetermined repetitive answer was, "yes".
My honest response was, "I don't. I can't picture myself marrying you."
Suddenly, all of the truths unraveled: Turns out he didn't love me and that he no longer had any feelings for me.
And I was broken.
I forced myself to love something broken, something I knew would never have the capability to love me back. I allowed myself to be fooled. I allowed someone to see my vulnerability... All because the child of a home broken by infidelity longed to know "true love".
We all seem to want to dive into the great depths of life, without first learning how to tread the waters. That's our problem.
