My latest website. Support a friend of mine and a great company. Thank you Rasco Mason Contractors for allowing me to design your site.
With the holiday coming up I quite enjoyed this data viz of toys over the last 50 years. How bad is it that I received a cabbage patch kid for christmas once upon a time? Oh Shane whatever happened to you?

Entry 15: Bad Information Design
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see how poorly this product packaging was designed. Where do I even start? (Pun intended) It looks as though information had bad Indian food and was thrown up all over this. It's never a good thing when it takes the viewer time just to figure out the name of the product. Overwhelming, comes to mind when thinking of a word to describe the information presented here. I would like to direct the graphic artist who designed this to Krug's 3rd law of usability. This is just the front, I can't imagine what exciting information awaits us on the backside. It's something so good that they chose to include (over) with an arrow twice. And the images at the bottom look great since I happen to have microscopic vision. Fantastic job Superthrive, if that's your real name?
Documenting Logo Thefts & Plagiarism
I found this to be an interesting site displaying original logos next to clearly stolen replications of logos.
Entry 14: Postmodern design
Post modern design was a contradiction to modern design which was structured and balanced things were aligned and neat. As you can see from this image above there is a sense of design anarchy with use of wood in every way possible. The lights are also chaotically placed and not one section seems to mimic the next. This is a very interesting piece of artistic use of wood and lighting that I quite enjoy. It's certainly a distraction from the modern furniture and creates a juxtaposition of art that is somehow pleasing in my eyes.

So I stumbled across this while browsing around and found everything about this site awesome. The product is kind of cool too, but the site is designed even better. Oh and try not to get dizzy watching the video.
With new social networking platforms appearing from behind every corner, it can be hard to know exactly where to commit your time and resources. And as we move into the latter-half of 2013, it's important to look ahead to where social networking is going, and how we can get on [...]
Entry 13: I would consider this site to be good, clean and stripped of any unnecessary items, and my site passes the trunk test. Every page has the same navigation for a seamless feel and the page the user is on is cleatly highlighted in red. The heavy contrast of blue and white along with san serif typeface makes reading text very easy. I take pride in making simple sites easy to navigate and I feel like my site emphasizes this. All images use alt tags to comply with accessibility web standards for impaired users.

Cool little restaurant in El Chalten, complete with a climbing wall. Conveniently sat us at the same table with Swiss couple on their honeymoon - needless to say, we made some friends.
The goal of User Interface (UI) design is to anticipate what users might need to do and ensures that the interface has elements that are easy to access, understand, and use to facilitate those actions.
Last week, we presented 10 Useful Web Application Interface Techniques, the first part of our review of useful design trends in modern Web applications. Among other things, we highlighted embedded video blocks, specialized controls and context-sensitive navigation. We also encouraged designers to disable pressed buttons, use shadows around modal windows and link to the sign-up page from the log-in page. This post presents the second part of our review: 12 useful techniques for good user interface design in Web apps. We also discuss how to implement these techniques so that they are properly used. Please feel free to suggest further ideas, approaches and coding solutions in the comments below.
