'Decomposition Theory or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Demand the Future'
"Imagine that 65daysofstatic deconstructed themselves as dozens of tiny AIs. Decomposition Theory is a live collaboration between the humans and their code-based counterparts. It is 65daysofstatic becoming cyborg, demanding a future where we control the algorithms, and not the other way round."

Symbolic language can help us grasp the nature and power of what is coming
love Nora Khan's writing, how she switches seamlessly across genres and disciplines between fiction, internet and digital culture, politics, music, technology
“The most highly-charged passages in Cyberpositive are the hefty chunks of Plant/Land writing and Roberts's and Mukherjee's evocations of the techno-rave-Ecstasy-LSD experience. “I used to write a lot in clubs, which probably looked really pretentious,” recalls Roberts. “Tracing what's happening in all the different sound channels and what they're doing spatially and physically to you.” The language veers from masochistic mortification of the flesh (“deep hurting techno,” “the meat is learning to know loss”) to imagery influenced by voodoo and shamanic possession (“white darkness,” “the fog of absolute proximity,” “psyclone,” “beautiful fear”). “It's trying to process the dissassembling of the self,” says Roberts. “Maybe what you're calling abject, we'd call melting. The violence of the sounds in techno, it’s like you're being turned inside out, smeared, penetrated.”“

Another favourite release for this year. 0N4B is Mostafæ Onsy El Ghamry & Rami Abadir. Glitchy ambient click and cuts defying geographical locations and restrictive genres. "0N4B’s music has been a rare find of boundary pushing music with true abstractive power. The works of this duo under this pseudonym tell a tale oscillating between ambient harmonies and glitchy post-structuralism. This style is a continuation from their solo efforts, trying to undermine normative compositions, which are absolutely not related to a specific genre. dots is a very fragile sounding album, reminding us of some Ryoji Ikeda output, relying on the listener’s ability to appreciate the delicacy of the provided soundscapes." Ghosts of My Life
Around a year ago, upon hearing of Mark Fisher's suicide, I started compiling a list of music that influenced him, music that he wrote about, engaged with, listened to but also music or sounds influenced by him. This is not an exhaustive list but (eternally?) in the making: https://www.youtube.com/watch…
Around two weeks ago, I discovered an album by Baghdad-based electronic musician/sound designer Farouk Adil where he engages in a dialogue between the realms of languages that of sound and words. His minimal soundscapes traces spectral presences in his new album "Ghosts of My Life" dedicated to Mark Fisher.
