re-reading the first time alina met nikolai is such a mood booster and i always get unreasonably emotional reading that scene. to see how she called him too-clever fox and then fox basically is his spirit animal and everyone calls him that. like yeah, that’s her fox.

Also yeah I agree. There’s something about that first encounter (and also the early scenes) between Alina and Sturmhond that I know I’ll never be able to get over with. It’s like watching a melancholic, nostalgic tape from the time you were the happiest in your life. It’s like seeing back to where it all started.

Nikolai and Alina definitely love couple clothes so much. like I can already see them doing that. from the same colors to the same patterns BASICALLY any matching outfits. even tacky t-shirts. Alina might be grumpy but she’s essentially an all time lover girl so yes she will definitely do it. and don’t get me started with Nikolai, the boy is already envisioning the design. and then Alina draws them.

to think that nikolai was lonely, ostracised from the fractured family he shared a name with, looked down for heredity that wasn't his fault, and forced to carry a heavy burden before he was even born to the point of overcompensating, losing his closest friend to the war, then lived a double life for a one-sided love with his country. then came hope, arriving in the shape of a girl who could summon the sun. suddenly, his desire to save ravka didn't sound improbable or hopeless anymore. an alliance was born. but that tactical alliance quickly softened into friendship through every trust they gave and every understanding they shared. and then, just as suddenly, he fell for her. maybe it was the sheer thrill of her company, or the profound connection they found despite their opposite backgrounds. or perhaps it was simply the relief of finding such a fresh perspective from someone who wore her heart on her sleeve in a sea of performative fakers and court performances.

to think that alina said she missed nikolai, remarking that he brought hope wherever he went. when maybe all this time, for him, she was the hope and the light at the end of his darkest tunnel in more ways than one.

Alina recognizing Nikolai’s handwriting actually means everything to me. Idk maybe it’s because I’m not someone who can easily memorise or differentiate people’s writings, so I see it as a big deal. honestly I think neither is Alina, so the fact that she pays attention to Nikolai so much down to that detail is just… quietly and effortlessly romantic. Nikolai attention whore Lantsov really would have thrived with the level of Alina’s attention adkkqkdkd

After Alina Starkov became the Sun Queen of Ravka, she always remained humble, which does not mean she did not every once in a while indulge in certain things that she could not have had before, especially since Nikolai pretty much spoils her rotten. But for all the wonderful things a queen could have, her favorite is by far the samoyed puppy (which I don’t know how it would be called in the grishaverse since I guess our dog breeds are not called the same, but let’s roll with it) that she received for her first birthday as queen. She named it Sneg, and Oh, how they love each other.

(Not to mention making Jessie Mei Li playing her omg. That’s like the most remarkable woman of course I’m shooting my shot(s) man.)
