A collection of characters relevant to our MC storylines, so far! Pinpin the creeper, Herobrine, Steve, Alex, and Trip the enderman.

A brief summary: Herobrine has unmentioned plans to deal with the recent influx of new "players" which he needs to travel to the farlands for. Pinpin just so happens to be fleeing to the farlands, and so the two form an uneasy alliance. Meanwhile, Steve and Alex are confused why some villagers seem to recognize Steve by the wrong name... and Trip trips and falls and bonks his head in the underdark, wiping all memory of the End and the dragon that's enslaved his people.

Drawing this made us realize everyone in minecraft who wears shoes has gray shoes... for some reason

A minecraft build I did a while ago, a Lonely House. Based on an illustration by FrancisCo.

This uses some perspective tricks that started to be used more at the time:

Built in an older version, I made use of a glitch with shulker shadows to help darken some areas. In 1.16, when you place shulker boxes and move away, the boxes disappear as they are entities, but the shadows remain. That’s why there are so many pink blocks all over :) I got this idea from a build by Mine674, who made a huge, detailed build with customized shadows all over. You can find it here.

It was pretty fun coloring the clouds and mixing a lot of different blocks to achieve the colors and transitions that match the original image as close as possible.

In the end I was happy with the build as it was my first organic, though some coloring and shaping can definitely be smoother.

If I had to re-do it, I’d also make it more 3D and lean in on using the shadows between the clouds that the sun casts for a better sense of “3D-idness” and a more cartoony, hand drawn look, where the shadows would make for ink or pencil like outlines and accents.
