It’s not just about the food. This is also how he views his Eves!
It doesn’t matter to him what his Eve is like cuz in Ildio’s mind, they’re all the same in the end! Grabs him by the shoulders and shakes YOU ARE WHERE LAWLESS LEARNED HIS BAD HABITS.
Like Gluttony in and of itself isn’t just about food, though in the past, that connotation was inevitable because even now, food is one of the most accessible “fineries” we have to offer as a species. It’s about overindulging in many different aspects, whether that be food, wine, carnal desires, basically any worldly pleasure to the point that it brings you to ruin or causes you to harm another.
Meanwhile Temperance is a Virtue that plays very nicely with Charity, the way Gluttony often goes hand in hand with Greed, with Greed being the act of amassing more and more just for the sake of having more.
Someone who has an abundance of Temperance, who has an ability to abstain from indulging in their surplus is also often the kind of person who is willing to give their surplus to those less fortunate than they are, and Nicco does indeed do this a lot via trying to share his enjoyment of things, usually food and drink since that’s what Ildio seems to enjoy most, with him.
I would love it so much if Lawless were somehow able to awaken a sense of Greed within Nicco that allows him to finally break through Ildio’s walls and be seen as not just another human, same as all the rest, but an individual worth knowing. For Nicco’s desire to connect with his Servamp to be that strong!
