Working on khr flower assignments and so far I have ones for tsuna, Yamamoto, Gokudera, reborn, and Bianchi…
Some of these have much deeper thoughts behind them than others, because their associations aren’t nearly as clear cut as others, but I’ll make a bigger compilation post of various characters later. for now, it’ll be one by one for the more in depth characters. For now, ill start with Bianchi, because I’m very proud of hers lol
Bianchi: peyote cactus blossom
Cactus blossoms specifically carry a symbolism of lust, but peyote cactus are not only pink when they flower, they’re unique for not possessing quills. Instead, they contain a powerful hallucinogenic that makes them toxic to ingest. I also chose cactus specifically because Bianchi is the poison scorpion, and scorpions are typically desert dwelling arachnids
Small, unassuming, beautiful, deadly if not handled correctly. However, the same hallucinogenic that makes it unsuitable as a food source for wild animals and people has also been used for thousands of years by indigenous peoples of the area as folk and ceremonial medicine. The color, form, usage, and symbolism all tie into Bianchi as a character.
As for why I chose a pink flower rather than red to match her Storm flame, when most of these flower choices are going to attempt to keep to a certain theme of coloration, it’s because her name, Bianchi, translates to “white” in Italian, and furthermore, a bright pink when paired with red (her flame) and purple (her poison), are all colors commonly used in association with hell in Japanese media. If you watch a lot of anime, you might have subconsciously picked up on this pattern at some point~
