Happy pride everyone. I painted this last year for a friend and was never quite happy with the photos I took at the time, so I asked her to borrow the model for the afternoon to take something better

The downside to taking better photos, especially of something you did in the past is it's even easier to see your mistakes. Oh well my personal rule is to keep moving forward and do better next time. Maybe I'll revisit this in the future.

Alright so I'm not sure i'm nailing the John Blanche tribute aspect of this (Other than being inspired by the 2nd Ed box art) but I do like where he's going

I need to go back and neaten up the freehand bits (And also do his right shoulder) finish the highlighting and give him an oil wash... Also thinking about maybe doing some OSL from the sword, should be easy enough with blue ink.

Taking a break from my current WIP (seen in back) to (try to) do a John Blanche tribute

Mahogany prime with a ivory zenithal and then splatter the whole thing with spots to add some texture and give the impression of water colours over inks. Definitely not my usual style, but a fun experiment.

The father of Warhammer 40k art direction and the man that has inspired me as an artist, down to inspiring my current artstyle (and I am sure will continue to inspire me, even in death). 40k just wouldn't be 40k had it not been for the foundation of grimdark sci-fi that he laid.

going for a worn chipped enamel paint look, only really used a metallic paint marker for the weathering. Gonna try to bust out a search and rescue themed demi-trainer next
