yeah ok whatever jack and bitty chirping each other over their pronunciation of “pecan” blah blah blah what i really wanna see is which pronunciation their kids develop and how offended the losing parent gets
eric “i have not gone a single day without rambling about baking since i learned to speak” bittle vs jack “life is a competition and i have no choice but to win” bittle
the bittles and the zimmermanns love their grandkids and want as much time with them as possible. jack and bitty strive for an equitable balance between time spent in quebec and in georgia, with plenty of grandparent visits to the bittle-zimmermann house in between.
until bitty realizes that the kids came home from madison the last time pronouncing pecan his way, and suddenly it's "well moomaw is starting to get up in years and it's not so easy for her to make it all the way north anymore" and "mama's got this new mixer and she's got a couple recipes she's dying to try out with the kids."
now jack has known the bittle family for a long damn time. he saw the video of moomaw skating with the kids when they went down to visit her. he's watched suzanne open his front door with an elbow because she's got a box of cooking implements on one hip and a basket of georgia peaches on the other.
fifteen minutes later, the bittle-zimmermanns all have tickets to montreal for the next school break. bob and alicia have been emailed a grocery list that will enable the family to make any of seven different pecan-forward recipes. each of jack's relatives has received a youtube pronunciation guide and a list of vocal exercises that are intended to improve enunciation.
