Everyone says the first cut is the deepest but id have to disagree. It’s the deepest when you don’t see it coming. Imagine meeting someone you never thought you’d meet. Having this incredible connection with them and making a bond. You two may be different in some ways but you’re the same just as much. They become one of the best parts of your life. Everything about them is amazing to you. They're talented and have so much drive you look up to that. They make you feel like it's okay to let your guard down. You spend so much time with them. You’re sweet, you encourage them. you watch them go through ins and outs. You support & observe the person, learn them, argue passionately and most importantly you love them. Every moment isn’t perfect but you know you love them. You’d quite honestly love them if they lived in a box. You would happily share the box until you guys got on your feet. You get excited when they succeed. Almost happier than they are. You do research about things so you can be knowledgeable on their interests. & provide any help you can. You would do just about anything for them. Though time hasn’t been long it’s felt like it. You go to bed every night with them on your mind and you’re usually smiling uncontrollably. Especially when you sleep peacefully in their arms. They are the highlights of your days. They’re funny, smart, headstrong and had to ability to cause you to slip up and say “I love you”. Then suddenly it stops, things change like the gravel being lifted from The pavement. You don’t know what to do. You are suddenly no longer important. you’re trying to find answers and you don't understand why. You have to pick up the pieces of your broken heart alone and in silence. They don’t love you like they said and you’re in this alone. The person that you ran to when you had trouble no longer has arms open to you. So tears run down your cheek while you wonder why & what you did wrong. You regret all the silly arguments you guys had & wish you could change things. So no the first cut isn’t the deepest it’s always the one you didn’t see coming.
Sometimes we're dying inside.
Why is it that we find solace in the thing that's hurting us the most.
Sleeping next to someone you care about is probably one of the best feelings in the world.
I still stand by this.
Sleeping On Satin turned 7 today!
Damn this hit me hard , I needed this talk as a little girl. s/o to her mom for destroying the self hate in such a great way
This shit almost made me cry lol
Love this
You know I always think about how I’m gonna address this problem with my kids especially my daughters. I know if someone sat me down and told me things like that at that age it would had spared me so much trouble. The way she handled it was perfect especially because its not the easiest talk to have. I love this ❤
Crying cuz it’s unbelievable we have to tell our kids this and at such a young age they are perceptive of anti-Blackness
I’ve reblogged this before and I will probably continue to reblog it every time I see it. This woman is such a good mommy. Not only did she explain to her daughter in clear and digestible way why she was beautiful and worthy but she smashed down the tantrum without talking over her daughter. She gave her the opportunity to speak in a way that made her feel respected and responded in kind. Her daughter left this conversation with her self esteem intact and a whole new take on how she feels about her skin. Good job, mommy.
Jesus Christ, I teared up. What an amazing mother, she even got her to realize her friend was brown and beautiful too.
it hits home how hard we have to work for our little girls to know they're’re beautiful because the media doesn't do it for us, visual representation is everything. paint every cartoon black, every princess black if you have to, let them know they’re amazing and important.
White people don’t go through this, and they think racism, the whole system, is something you can just get over. “Oh don’t hate white ppl that’s bad” but bitch my daughter hates herself because of you fuck outta here
i fucken loved this
i cried I cant even lie to you!
Yes good job to mommy! Thank you! This is so important!
reblog if you dont have a bra on
????
“found”???? like Shay Mitchell wasn’t looking like her normal self long before Kylie started painting on the self tan??
Shay was bullied in school for her brown skin but I’m glad she serves as a doppelganger for a white girl in daily brownface
i need to fight whoever wrote this article
