Obsidian Falls - choice four.
After leaving the ruins behind, the group eventually made their way to the Obsidian Falls. A prick of blood had shown up after their encounter with the spirit and Lark had been scratching at her arm along the way, with Celosia trying to get her to stop and worrying at her the whole time. She should have taken that as a warning sign, but she didn't, too caught up in her love of the ruins.
The beautiful waterfalls that surrounded them had every novice staring in amazement. The bright rainbows shining around in the night were one of the most wonderful things that Lark had ever seen and she could hardly tear her eyes away. As they're settled around the campfire, Lark feels more relaxed than she had in a while and so at peace within herself.
Their peace didn't last long, however. One by one, each novice began to feel sick and weak. A sharp pain began in Lark's stomach and slowly began spreading through the rest of her body. It felt as though she had been poisoned, but she knew for sure that it wasn't something that she had eaten, and they did not come into contact with anything poisonous in nature. Everything was painful and she could barely move. Celosia continued worrying about her at her side and trying to do anything she could to help. Eventually, Lark looks to her arm with understanding finally dawning on her. "Celosia... please..."
Lark tried her best to forage the area for plants that would help and eventually found a combination that eased her symptoms. It took awhile for them to completely disappear, but she was able to collect more as Celosia carried around the plants to anyone who still needed them and were too sick to help themselves.
The group spent a few extra nights at their campfire to recover their strength before moving on once again.
Choice Four - What do you do?
A: Find a herbal remedy nearby, there's always one if you know what to look for! You have might try a few but if you know your plants, youâll find a combination before time runs out!
Ruin of the Skye - the third choice.
Lark eventually pulled herself through the last of the mist and was helped to her feet by a blonde human woman, who introduced herself as Linnea Flynn. The two girls carried on together, joined by Linnea's Iltirian girlfriend named Kestrel, leaning on each other when their nightmares of the Mist got to them. Eventually, the nightmares stopped, and they formed a friendship.
Their next stop on the Novice Path was the Ruin of the Skye, rumored to have been built not long after the first knowledge seekers approached Orilium. It was a tradition for new students to leave a piece of themselves behind in the Ruin as they continued on their path, something sentimental or useful. Lark pulled a scroll from her pack and began to write a journal entry, detailing her path through the Mists of Solitude. She wrote down every emotion and hardship she felt through the ordeal and then hid the scroll within the Ruin's walls. To her, it signified letting go and being able to move on with the rest of their journey. She felt free afterwards, as if a burden had been lifted from her.
Here, within the ruin, Lark truly felt as though she were home. The moss, the vines, and the willow trees all spoke to her and welcomed Lark with a gentleness that she had yet to feel on this path. It was as if this was where she was meant to be. The old stones called to her and so did the writing carved on them. Stories of old and and of travels. The stone walls were filled with the experiences of those long gone who had traveled through here. It was mesmerizing. Lark could spend forever here, reading everything that she could and taking it all in.
When they reached the shrine, each novice left a gift and Lark chose to leave one of the arrows in her quiver. She had made them all herself, they were like a piece of her. She would gladly, however, leave one behind, as if she could stay behind as well.
After everyone left a gift, the group descended the stairs to the lower portion of the ruins. Suddenly, however, it felt as though the world had shifted. The earth around them could sense a presence and Lark could feel it so keenly, she wondered if anyone who wasn't an Earthling could feel it as well. A dark, shadowed figure loomed at the end of a long hallway, watching without moving. They were off, however, as though they could barely hold themselves up. A tall Ilterian girl moved forward, taking the first steps to figure out who this was. However, once she got closer, the head of the figure snapped toward them as a spirit separates from the body and rushes past everyone with a horrid scream that lingers after the spirit disappears. Kestrel, who wishes to study Necromancy, is one of the first to rush after the spirit, closely followed by her sword wielding girlfriend Linnea. Lark looks toward the woman who was inhabited by the spirit and wanted to help her so badly, but many had already rushed toward her to help. So, Lark made the decision to follow Kestrel and the rest of the group that was searching for the spirit.
While they could not find the spirit, they took the time to explore the ruins more thoroughly. The old architecture and overrun nature was too strong of a pull to be ignored. Of course, she also loved the idea of discovering long forgotten ghosts. The novices decided against anyone going around alone, lest they become a vessel for an angry spirit, so Lark explored with Linnea and Kestrel. They took down notes for the writing they couldn't read and the murals along the walls.
Eventually, everyone was called back in order to continue on the Novice Path and listen to the girl's stories, who introduced herself as Mira.
Choice Three - What's your character's first instinct:
C: Who cares about them, have you SEEN the beautiful way nature and magic become one here, not to mention the the beautiful astronomy murals??! (But with a little bit of caring about them...)
Celosia, Lark's familiar.
Celosia is a Woodland Fox, named after a genus of plant in the amaranth family. While most foxes are thought to be related to fire magic or water/ice magic, Woodland Foxes are attuned to earth magic, making them a great companion for earth Earthlings in Irtheria, where they are native to. They look like a simple, non-magical fox and their colors can range from brown to deep burgundy to black, depending on what will help them blend in the most with their surroundings. Celosia has a tendency to be more of a deep burgundy color, as she grew up around the dark red flowers that Lark and her family loved to tend the most.
Woodland Foxes have the ability to turn their fur into a structure that looks, feels, and acts more like the bark of a tree for protection. They will usually do so when sleeping or threatened. It acts like an armor. If they are still for long enough in this form, they are often mistaken for a tree stump. Along with this, they have the magical ability to influence the earth around them for protection, as well, such as growing ivy or sprouting roots from the ground to trip someone. These foxes also have the ability to grow edible foods, such mostly mushrooms and berries, as well as steering anyone away from which plants are poisonous. However, their magic will deplete very quickly due to their small size. When it does, they revert to their bark-like state and will sleep until their magic is restored, usually anywhere from a few days to a week.
Woodland Foxes are not tricksters, like some of their cousins. They are known more for their sage guidance. There are many legends that say if you are lost in the woods, to find a Woodland Fox and they will always guide you to safety. While they cannot communicate through speech, they can influence the earth around them in a way that speaks to someone. There have also been reports of whispers on the wind guiding lost travelers that have been attributed to Woodland Foxes. When they become someone's familiar, they will share a more psychic link and can communicate within their minds with the person they are connected to, although it is limited to proximity.
These creatures are also very adept at finding things buried beneath the earth. They are very keen trackers and are a favorite among kind-hearted treasure hunters. These foxes have the ability to sense darkness and hatred in someone's heart and will refuse to help them.

Iâm very sensitive in real life. I cannot not cry if someone around me is crying. I will start to cry if someone is crying, even if itâs not appropriate. I have that thing in me, a weakness or sensitivity.
