I just had a small epiphany why you might like other peopleâs art more than your own:
Itâs the lack of suspension of disbelief.
When you see something someone else has drawn or painted, you take in the content faster than you take in the technical aspects. You experience it as pseudo-real, the same way you stop perceiving animated characters as drawn or book characters as written as you get into the story.
On the other hand, when you yourself have made something, all you see is the machine behind the theater, so to speak. Youâre probably thinking about lines, shading, coloring in a âdoes this make sense? Is this the best decision I could have made?â-kind of way.
I think thatâs also why sometimes, pictures you havenât looked at for a long time starts looking nice to you again, Ă la: âHey past-me was unto something! Why canât I replicate it nowadays?â. Itâs probably specifically because youâve forgotten the process of making it that you are now seeing it with fresh eyes.
Art is an illusion, but a magician has a hard time tricking themself. So donât be so hard on yourself: itâs probably just that you canât see the magic right now, but that doesnât mean itâs not there.
You just put something into words that I have been feeling for a while. This might actually get me to try digital painting again, thank you.
Omg, Iâm glad to hear đ
Here's all of my attacks and defenses for Art Fight this year! It was such a great experience and I had so much fun drawing so many different character designs!! Characters belong to @nebowskii, @/Luckyyy, @prideyouji, @/persona05, @awkwardee (and mine!), @/ipphie and @jadewares!
some people say thereâs a red string that connects fated lovers
psa donât look at the notes bc there are so many people completely missing the point that these are non-romantic strings of fate and making dumb jokes about where the red string âmust beâ and itâs making me really angry bc we canât even have a good artistic representation of aromanticism without people desperately grasping for a romantic interpretation somehow

your tag about stevens lack of legal documentation is brilliant and needs explored alas i'm light headed form doing voice things so i will just throw this into the world and see what happens
I like to think stan asks for legal documents just to weed out potential employees who are too compliant with the lawÂ
Okay, but can we talk about how much Stan would probably vibe with this teen?
Please imagine the moment Stan- as a scrappy boxer himself- learns about Stevenâs underground wrestling career. Hell, imagine Stan watching him split a hunk of wood in half with nothing but the straight edge of his hand like heâs from a goddamn karate movie.
Steven casually reminisces about the earliest days of his childhood, just him and his dad in their van, jamming on tunes together and him being free to wander the boardwalk whenever heâd like. It gives olâ Stan a bittersweet pang of yearning in his heart⌠yearning for the old days⌠the childhood heâd have wanted to have, where his Pa truly loved him and he got to spend entire afternoons out on the beach with Ford, searchinâ for âtreasuresâ and fighting âmonsters.â
Theyâve both explored the entire country. Iâm sure that gives them a lot of topics to talk about and find common ground with.
Due to both his and his brotherâs shared experience, Stan recognizing signs of trauma in some of Stevenâs reactions to situations, keeping track of what causes those reactions, and quietly and without word making adjustments as needed to ensure that the Shack remains a Steven-safe environment.
Made a bunch of pride Junimos!!!!!! Feel free to use them for anything with credit
