Okay, dipping toes back in with this one. What season is Maheen?

Taking a moment to step back in here and ask everyone to please not associate me with Bunny. It's been a very stressful few weeks at work and seeing everything that's happened during my unspoken semi-hiautus is rough and I want all of that far far away from me.
I'll still be off blog until at least another week or so, but hopefully I'll be back soon.
"I am content with your company."
If Narxix carries with him an aversion, it is not for her. It is the distant, thrumming call, setting his teeth to edge and his hands to claws. It is the rapture of waking up bloodied and free, at one with his every thought. It is the thing that will lead him to Baldur's Gate, to what was and what will be.
"No. Are you? Sleep is a rare commodity, or so I have been assured. I thought you might attempt it for longer than you have."
Suddenly, Maheen is a point of fascination, of open curiosity. Moonlight catches the abyssal surface of his darkened eyes before it is summarily swallowed; in that moment, his focus is for her and her alone.
A small smile tugged at her lips. Even though she didn't question his offer, it was still nice to have it confirmed that she wasn't intruding where she truly wasn't wanted. Fingers worked to massage the sore muscle of her shoulder until the knot finally relaxed and she could turn to give him her attention, the green of her eyes faintly glowing in the dark.
"Not scared so much, as I'm not used to camping." She gave a slight shrug, wincing before chuckling. "It isn't all that rare, most tend to sleep every night."
His focus didn't bother her. It wasn't the first time, but this... this curiosity was much nicer than the greed and lust she had gotten back at in Baldur's Gate from men and women who just wanted to use her to climb social ranks.
"It ah... hurts after a while. I'm afraid I'm a bit spoiled by a soft bed."

"Well, let's not die then."
They stood just inside the protective barrier of Last Lights Inn and stared out as she slowly reached out to tangle their fingers together. They had finally found Raphael and now they were tasked with going to Moonrise tower, and Maheen was almost positive that there was going to be more bullshit to deal with when they got there.
"Besides, I can think of quite a few things to do when we get back and finally have a seperate room all to ourselves."
Lips curled into a smirk as she hip checked Ivy. "So, sooner we can get this done, the sooner we can get back."
Not only could they use an actual break, but Maheen was dreaming of the tub that she saw, ready to rinse the dirt, grime, and know knows what else from her skin.

Which is ironic, coming from the personification of melodrama himself. Astarion rolls his eyes, all in good fun, of course. If Maheen wants to have a tearful, dramatic goodbye with him she’ll have to wait until one of them is struggling to hold their guts inside their body. Or before the headsman’s ax falls on them. Or, of course, he gets even a hint of a tentacle.
Until then, well, she’s stuck with him. Astarion has always had a terrible time knowing when to let go.
“ You’re fine. I’m fine. So stop acting like you’re already gone. ”
A faint pout tugged at her lips as she buried rested her head on her chin before shivering. She was so cold, and cursed everything about getting sick. cause that was just what they needed. On a hunt to get the little unwanted passenger out of their heads and of course she had to come down with a cold, or the flu. Either way she was freezing and miserable. Her toes pressed closer to the fire, almost sliding under the coals as she tried to absorb the warmth even as the pout slid into a small amused grin.
"Take the compliment and let me be miserable." She sniffled moving to bury her nose against her arms.
"I could be going, and your last words to me would be 'don't be so melodramatic.' Like you have any room to speak. I'm sure I've seen your picture drawn next to the words in a dictionary somewhere."

The fact she used his full name was attention grabbing enough despite how her hands reached up to cup his face, making sure to be able to lock eyes with him and knowing that they were both stressed with the meeting that was to be starting soon.
She had heard the whispers about wanting to replace her guard, that he was too dangerous despite that the only marks on her body was from the muzzle that had sliced into her face to prevent her from casting spells, the healing resistant cut still raw and looked like it was about to start bleeding again which made her think there was some kind of poison or curse on the metal.
"You're not going to be sent away. I won't let them."
Her tail lashed, showing her anger even when her words were soft. After all, she wasn't angry at him. How could they think it was a good idea when he got her out, got her to safety.
"I'm so so sorry for taking that choice from you, but you didn't hurt me." Her pinky tapped against his neck but steering clear of the collar, not wanting risk making things worse.
"And if I have to stomp my foot at act like the spoiled noble, then I will. You're worth fighting for."

the easiest thing to do is stay quiet when something’s up. you’re not bothered, and you know what? you shouldn’t be! it’s none of your business, even when it’s entirely your business. it’s difficult (read: impossible) to tell if your cheery demeanor is a cover-up for something sadder, or if it’s simply your natural state of mind. you see a lot of things: people coming through town, people leaving the house and never coming back, lies and deceit of the highest degree. what happened to you? will you ever be that kid again? your presence smells like cotton candy, and your fingertips sparkle like stars. whatever white rabbit you’re chasing isn’t going to lead you to wonderland if you don’t start reaching out when you’re not feeling okay.

"Always just a little much, always never quite enough."
It's always interesting to think about the absolute lack of self confidence that Maheen has about herself. She wasn't good enough to keep her twin from slipping away from the family and then wasn't enough, wasn't fast enough to be able to save him. Wasn't good enough to convince her older sister not to make the deal she did, and wasn't able to stand by her side when she needed it.
After being kidnapped and tadpoled, she was surrounded by vampire spawns, chosen of gods, survivors of Avernus, and one of the most famous wizards of their time, even depowered and she was just. Just a little book smart nerd who didn't think enough and only had one cent of common sense.
Even with her friends she felt like an outsider looking in. Children of gods and dragons, those whose power crackles at their fingertips and much more... older? Mature? World weary.
Just, me rotating the idea of her reaching out to her friends as they walk away, never able to catch up (in her mind, they're always just out of reach)
