McCall’s Heartland Grill

Daily: 3pm - 11pm

Price: $$$ ($31-$60 per person)

This restaurant has mainly classic American fare, featuring steaks, pasta, ribs, and seafood. Pictured above is a signature appetizer, the Applewood Bacon Jalapeno wrapped Prawns. McCall’s also features an extensive wine list and whiskey bar. This looks to be a good spot for some above average food at decent prices!

Top of the World

Daily: 11am - 11pm

Price Range: $$$$ (above $60 per person)

International cuisine with a $98 chef’s tasting menu as well as many entrees. Prices range from $40 for a vegetarian dish to a $79 surf and turf entree. Sides are ordered to share and are about $10 each. Plan to spend some money to dine here!

X-Scream

Sun - Thu: 10am - 1am

Fri & Sat: 10am - 2am

X-Scream sits at 866 ft and gives the impression of sliding forward off the track as it seesaws back and forth. The track is 69 ft long and is similar to a conventional roller coaster. The track tilts down abruptly making it seem like you’re about to plummet to the ground!

X-Scream does not include observation deck admission of $20 per person. Prices are discounted for Nevada residents and hotel guests.

Ride packages range from $25 for one ride to a $36 all day pass.

Sky Jump Las Vegas

Sun - Thu: 10am - 1am

Fri & Sat: 10am - 2am

Sky Jump is a controlled descent jump from the top of the Stratosphere Tower. After a brief safety instruction, riders are given a special suit to wear and are strapped into the special descender machine. Once attached, riders are led to a small platform, then it’s time to jump! Once you get close to the ground the machine will slow your descent so you land safely and gently on the ground.

Ride packages begin at $119 per person with a $20 discount for Stratosphere Hotel guests. Ride packages including pictures and video documentation are available for an additional cost.

Minimum Height requirement: 52 inches

Maximum Weight: 265lbs

Age Requirement: 14 years and up. Under 18 with parent or guardian

Insanity the Ride

Sun - Thu: 10am - 1am

Fri & Sat: 10am - 2am

Insanity is another thrill ride on the Stratosphere Tower. An arm extends 64 ft over the side spinning riders 900 ft (270 m) above the ground. The ride mechanism also opens like a flower once extended giving riders spinning views over the strip.

Insanity does not include observation deck admission of $20 per person. Prices are discounted for Nevada residents and hotel guests.

The Big Shot

Sun - Thu: 10am - 1am

Fri & Sat: 10am - 2am

The Big Shot is the world’s highest amusement ride at elevation above ground level, and the ride itself stands 160 ft (49 m) high. The ride operates by starting at the lowest point then shooting you up, followed by several drops and rises before settling back to bottom of the ride.

Big Shot does not include observation deck admission of $20 per person. Prices are discounted for Nevada residents and hotel guests.

Stratosphere Las Vegas

Opened: April 30, 1996

The Stratosphere Las Vegas is a hotel and casino that features the tallest freestanding observation tower in the United States. The Stratosphere is at the northernmost end of the Las Vegas Strip and while technically not a Strip hotel is still included in most travel guides as a Strip attraction.

The Stratosphere Tower stands at 1,149 ft (350.2m) and houses several thrill attractions, as well as a revolving restaurant and two observation decks.

So I think I finally have a direction to go in with this blog. I’ve spent my life living near Walt Disney World, and as such, was obsessed throughout my childhood and into adulthood. I’ve taken three trips out to Las Vegas so far, and each was better than the last. I’m not giving up on the kid in me, I’ll always love Disney, but now that I’m 30, I might be ready to shift my focus onto the “adult Disney” that is Sin City. I love it here. So, starting from the Stratosphere I’ll be working my way down the strip researching from top to bottom each property along the way along with day trips and whatever else the city and surrounding area has to offer. When I was a kid, I put in this amount of dedication into making my Disney World dreams come true, and I want to be able to do the same thing as an adult. If you can benefit from the information along the way, that’s fantastic!
