@lateblccmer liked for a starter.
Lungs burned from the harsh, chilly winter air, and legs screamed for a break. How many times had she ran down this street by now? She couldn’t remember; lost track. However many times it was by now, she needed to take a breather. Finally, she starts to slow down into a walk before finally coming to a stop and leaning against the nearest flat surface she could find. She wiped at her brow as she worked to catch her breath. Maybe she shouldn’t have pushed herself so hard– it’s what she tells herself each time, but she never stops pushing as far as she can go. Tucking a few stray strands of hair out of her face that had fallen out of her ponytail, she clears her throat, lightly panting as she takes in her surroundings. That’s when she sees her, eyes locking onto the target. Mel couldn’t remember if she’d seen her before or not, though something about her seemed familiar.
Her fingers suddenly itched for her camera, but she fought the urge and finally tore her gaze away from the girl far too late. Maybe if she was lucky the other hadn’t noticed, but per usual, Melanie was willing to bet against that.
Nicole scoffed as she walked out of the store with a bag in hand, making a fuss as she exited the outlet. Idiot clerks. Stepping out, she put on her designer shades and her wide brimmed hat to block out the light. She resorted to mostly wearing covering clothes or wide hats, sunscreen felt absolutely disgusting on her skin and she wouldn’t have any of it.
She turned to see a girl running down the street before running some ways away. It was an odd sight to say the least, she didn’t even look like a jogger, but it looked as if she was pushing herself particularly hard today. Their eyes locked for a moment, Nicole’s behind her extra shaded and UV protected sunglasses and the girl through strands of misplaced hair.
What a mess.
Still it entertained her and she sauntered her way towards the girl, it was on the way to her car anyways. Getting closer her eyes narrowed as she picked up a scent she couldn’t really place. It was familiar, like a passing fragrance, but she couldn’t place a name.
“Hey there!” Nicole let out from only a few feet away before approaching Mel, bending down slightly to get a better look at her face, lowering her glasses. “Are you all right? Someone chasing you?” She joked in a manner that came off as natural, a friendly smile on her face. At this point it was natural, it came just as easily to her anyways. “Do I know you? You look familiar...”
