@Osheaga Festival (Montreal) has announced their line up! (Kendrick Lamar! Azealia Banks! Icona Pop!)
Also a little bit of the meaning behind "OSHEAGA"
Osheaga was a name used for the area that is now Montreal by some of the first European settlers in the region. The name is said to originate from Jacques Cartier when he met the Mohawks near the Lachine rapids in what is now Montreal. But so the Mohawk oral history goes the white man was waving with his hands, either offering to shake hands or asking about rapids on the river. The astonished Mohawks looked at each other and said "O she ha ga" which meant people of shaking hands. From the meeting Cartier transcribed the word Osheaga as meaning large rapids while the Mohawks would use the oral phrase to describe where they met the people of the shaking hands.

L: How Did Lyric 145 enjoy BK Fashion Weekend?
LDQ: BK Fashion Week was pretty dope. None of us had ever been to anything like that, so it was a definitely a nice experience.
L: What were your favorite designer presentations at BK Fashion weekend?
LDQ: Everybody was pretty good to be honest, like I liked the versatility and the difference that everybody brought. Somebody came out and all their clothes were hand-knitted and another models came out with snakes. It was definitely very interesting.
L: So, tell us, what is your favorite thing about Brooklyn? Have you been to the new arena the Barclay’s Center?
LDQ: I haven’t been to the new arena yet. Brooklyn is definitely an experience. We all love bring there; It’s a lot of history in Brooklyn, I mean it definitely puts you in the mind of Biggie, Jay Z, and Nas and everybody. It feels good to be in the area where Hip Hop was originated from, so it’s always an experience to be in Brooklyn.
L: How did it feel making the Top 16 of the X-Factor?
LDQ: Making it to the Top 16 of the X Factor was definitely an amazing experience. At that point you knew that win, lose or draw you had already won. The world was seeing who you were and it was a step close to victory for sure
L: How’s life for you all after the X-Factor?
LDQ: Life after X-Factor now is amazing. I mean we’re booking a lot of shows, with interviews, keeping ourselves relevant and it’s just a 24 hour, 7 days a week non-stop grind, literally. So now, we just go even harder than we ever did long before the show.
L: What was your best moment being on the X-Factor?
LDQ: I would have to say meeting all the talented contestants, meeting idols, and icons and just performing and being in front of the public eye. All of it was a really, really beautiful experience. The most important thing is I would have to say is meeting my new found bros, them meeting me and becoming this dynamic group together.
L: How was is working with Simon Cowell?
LDQ: Working with Simon was really a pleasure. We learned a lot from him. He’s very blunt, but surprisingly he’s also a sweetheart. Simon was extremely cool, extremely nice and generous to us; and we really appreciate everything he did. Real talk.
L: There’s been rumors that Lyric 145 is done as a group? Is that true?
LDQ: Absolutely Not. We’re here in New York, sitting here together. I flew to New York just to be with boys and to work like crazy, and since I’ve been here that’s exactly what we’ve been doing. So, no Lyric 145 is not done, we’ve just begun.
L: What is one musician(s), band, or group that has inspired you to do music?
LDQ: For me, my favorite rapper is Jadakiss, Andre 3000, Eminem.
MM: DMX
SJ: Michael Jackson is my all-time biggest inspiration.
L: As a group, what are 3 words to define Lyric 145’s sound?
LDQ: Definitely, Different, definitely, unexpected and definitely diverse. You never know what you’re going to get from Lyric 145, you just got to expect the unexpected, it’s always going to be forever evolving.
L: Now, a fashion question, each of you describe your style in two words (or less)?
LDQ: For me, my style would be, rule breaker. (laughs) I don’t do the heels and the dresses and the skirts and everything that people feel I should have to do as a female. I like baggy pants, and timbs and half shirts and skully’s. I’m just…a rule breaker.
SJ: Charismatic and dynamic.
MM: N/A
L: What’s the meaning behind your fun new single, “I Get It”?
LDQ: It pretty speaks for itself. It’s what we’re in the midst of doing now, we’re in the midst of getting it. And that’s exactly how we feel, if you listen to the things we say in our verses, the way we are on the hook it’s basically for anybody who’s out there getting it, they got it, they wanna get it, they got to have it. That’s song is for you, it’s just the all-time, 100% grind song.
L: When should we be expecting a studio album from Lyric 145?
LDQ: A studio album should be within the year, close to the end of the year. In the meantime, we are about to drop a mixtape on all industry beats, and then following that, extremely close after, we’re dropping an EP on all original beats, so, before we drop a studio album we definitely will give you a lot of material to look forward to as well.
L: If so, what would be/is the title of your upcoming album?
LDQ: We have to get to back to you on that one. Just know, to expect the unexpected and whatever the title may be, it’s definitely going to be something symbolic and something for sure.
L: In Lyric 145 tour dates in the horizon?
LDQ: We got a lot of shows coming up. March 26, March 15, 2-3 more other shows in New York. Then we’re flying out to Cali in April, then we’re flying out to Michagn, talks about Brazil in the future. So, yeah, we’re going to be all over the world real soon, so be looking out for Lyric 145.
L: Anything else you’re working on besides music?
LDQ: Pretty much anything we can get our hands on. Music is the top priority right now, but we also working on merchandising, like as far as shirts, sweaters, skullys for the fans.
L: Who are you currently listening to?
LDQ: We’ve been rocking out to Kendrick Lamar, heavy. So shout out to Kendrick Lamar, he’s definitely doing his thing in the industry.
L: Any last words you want the world to know that hasn't been stated about Lyric 145?
LDQ: Just be looking out for Lyric 145, expect the unexpected, we’re definitely coming this year, bigger and better than ever and much love to everyone showing us love and we look forward to what the future holds for us. Peace Out!
