please do not force an lgbt label onto anne frank. she died before she had the chance to explore her sexuality and if you need to think of her as lgbt to have empathy for her you need to reconsider how you think of holocaust victims. please do not vilify her father, a man who lost his entire family in the holocaust, for censoring the parts in anne’s diary where she expresses attraction for women. it was 1947. jewish girls were already seen as hypersexual. he was protecting her legacy as best he could, and you have no right to call him a villain for wanting what was period-typical best for his late daughter.

1) This happened in the UK. Yes all countries have bad police and racism but not to the same scale as the USA. British police do not carry guns (which can be used to hurt, kill, intimidate and make police more powerful). British police are trained differently with more emphasis on protecting people and helping the community than US police which are not legally required to protect people. As a result, last year US police killed 933 citizens and UK police killed 3. Also the UK doesn't have an industrial prison complex. US cops want to arrest people because that gets money from their forced labour. US incaceration rates =737 per 100,000 people (highest in world). UK incaceration rate = 112 per 100,000.

2) This was done before the news of George Floyd's murder became widespread. It was NOT done in response to it as it was not known at the time. Especially as this was the UK. In fact it was done in response to Covid and products were given to many types of workers other than police.

3) Lush run an anti undercover cop campaign. Including ads and window displays.

Also, saying his charge was “upgraded” to 2nd degree murder is misleading. They added a 2nd degree murder charge ON TOP OF the 3rd degree murder charge and the 2nd degree manslaughter charge. That is a good thing, because if he isn’t found guilty of 2nd degree murder he can at least still be found guilty of the other charges.

(But yea 1st degree won’t get through at all please don’t push for that it will only weaken the case against him and he will likely walk free if that happens)
