So, I’ve been binging the song “I only wanna be with you” (Bay City Rollers epic 70s version)
The line of lyrics So i thought I’d draw my oc and her friends from Outset Island. This was fun to draw, and took me 9 hours. So yeah, i thought I’d post it for you all to see!
Octavia grew to be VERY close friends with Link and Aryll. The three made a name for themselves as the ALO Outset Trio. They got close immediately, as they all live on the same tiny island with the smallest population of the residential islands.
Octavia could relate to her friends in so many ways, especially Aryll. They both lost their parents as babies, and Octavia not only lost her biological parents, but had a twin sister who also died when they were babies.
Octavia, being a billionaire, lived on a mansion on the very back of the island. It took several steps to get up there, her house was gated. Unfortunately, being a billionaire, there were a bunch of rumors going around about “a spoiled rich girl who never comes outside cause she thinks she’s better than all of us.” Octavia only felt comfortable being outside during nighttime, where’d she sit on the beach and strum her instrument given to her at birth.
One night, the big brain guy Sturgeon, came out in his balcony, as he heard a girl playing calming ukulele music. The man told Octavia “Octavia, stop what you’re doing, and come see me.” Octavia went inside her neighbor’s house, and Octavia asked “Was I disturbing you? I’m sorry!” He asked “No, Octavia! Not at all! I just want to talk to you for a few minutes. Where did you find that instrument?” Octavia said “Someone gave it to me at birth. I don’t know who though. It had a note on it, from whoever I think gave it to me.
“Dearest Octavia, this instrument was bestowed upon you at birth, because you are one of three individuals who were chosen by fate for a significant role involving it. Practice it as much as you can, until fate calls you. I will meet you then, my dear. Love, someone who cares.”
That conversation gave Octavia the courage to go outside during the day, so she sat on a rock, which was her spot she liked, and three girls came and said “Look. The rich girl finally came outside! Let’s confront her.” One of the girls said “Hey! Rich girl! Your music sucks! Everyone knows you are a spoiled little girl who will never make any friends!” The girls snatched her ukulele right out of her hands, and Octavia said “I really treasure that. Please give it back!”
Then one of them found her bag and said “Omg! This is her designer bag! This costs THOUSANDS of rupees!” Octavia said “No! That was my mom’s! And it has all my schoolwork in it!” The girls said “Hey. Rich girl. One more step towards it, and I’ll throw that, and your ukulele, into the ocean.”
Link came up and said “I can’t let you do that.” A girl said “But she’s a spoiled rich girl!” Link said “Come on. You don’t even know the girl. Now leave her alone!”
Link said “THATS WHAT YOU GET FOR TAKING A MAGICAL OBJECT.” Link ran up and retrieved her bag and her instrument. Octavia said “Thank you!
Link said “I have a little sister, she can be annoying sometimes, but I still love her. She’s four years younger than me. She’s playing with the seagulls right now on the beach!” The little girl came up and said “Big Brother! Is this your new friend?”
Link said “Yeah. Octavia, meet Aryll! Aryll, meet Octavia! She’s my little sister.” Octavia said “My name can be a little hard for someone your age, you can call me Tav, okay?” Aryll said “Okay!” After that, the three kids spent all day outside playing. They made the cave on Outset Island their clubhouse, and even carved their names in the cave.
Aryll woke Octavia up with a knock on her door, and they went outside together and raced each other to the watchtower. Whoever lost had to walk a lap around the island.
For YEARS, they hung out. (Fun fact: I based a bunch of their memories off of my own real life experiences as a child.)
The day before the events of WW, Link and Octavia did a rock-skipping tournament, as Link demanded a rematch. Octavia said “Hehe ask for that for your birthday tomorrow!” Octavia said “JUST KIDDING!” This was the first time Octavia saw Link do the iconic Toon Link victory jump.
That evening, Aryll and Octavia were feeding the seagulls together, and Link asked for a Hyoi Pear. Link said “I sure hope Octavia buys me that! I’ve been asking her for a while. I was joking but now I genuinely want it!” Octavia said to Aryll “I’ll be right back. I need to get Link his birthday present!” Octavia went inside the ship after Link left, and said “I’d like that bait bag, the pig faced one, my friend’s birthday is tomorrow and he won’t stop asking me for it. I’d like it gift wrapped please!”
Link said “What are you carrying back to your house?” Octavia said “It’s your birthday present. No snooping silly!”
When it got dark, they looked at the stars, taking turns using Aryll’s telescope. After observing a shooting star, they made a wish, and Link fell asleep on the lookout tower.
The next day, Aryll asked Octavia to help her wake up Link! Octavia played the customary birthday song that was played on the 12th birthday, on her instrument. Octavia then went as Link went to see his grandma and grabbed Link his birthday present. Aryll said “I’m gonna give him my telescope.” Octavia said “Give it to him?” Aryll said “Yeah, he’s worthy to keep it.” Octavia said “What. No! Aryll! You love that thing! That’s your prized possession! Maybe just let him borrow it for a day or two? But please don’t give it away to him. You’ll miss it more than you think you will!” Aryll listened, and said “Okay.”
Then, Link came back and said “Did I miss anything?” Octavia said “Um.. that you’re wearing that outfit in 90 degree weather?” Aryll let him borrow her telescope for that day, and Link asked why she didn’t just give it to him. Octavia said “You should be thankful she’s even letting you borrow it. She can very easily take it back!” Aryll laughed and said “Yeah!” They spotted the Helmaroc King! Link and Octavia went to the forest, and Octavia played high frequency ukulele music, which immediately wiped out all the enemies! After they met Tetra, who took an instant liking for Octavia, Aryll was kidnapped! Octavia ran back to her house and cried, and Link pursued her. He found her bedroom door locked and said “It’s Link, can I come in? I know she was my sister, but she was your friend too, would you like to come with me to save her?”
Octavia nodded. They went to the Forsaken Fortress.. Octavia was a Hylian girl, exactly who these monsters were targeting, so she knew she could very easily be tossed into the same cell that Aryll was being held. However: Octavia could have one more outcome, even worse. She was a sage with dormant powers and memories, aka a literal threat to Ganondorf.
After a failed rescue attempt, the duo then met Octavia’s peers, aka the other two sages. However, after rescuing Aryll, Octavia had her fate upcoming.. after the Earth and Wind temples, Link had to take his own friend to a temple there’s been actual horror stories about. It was rumored to be cursed.
Link, after conducting an ancient melody for Octavia, everything suddenly went black for Octavia.. She had a very similar reaction to Medli. Link took her back to his house, and she immediately woke up after en encounter with her ancestor. She mentioned her ancestor was a beautiful spirit of a sage, around her early twenties at the time of her death.
Octavia couldn’t emotionally process the fact that she’d have to spend her entire life stuck in a temple. Aryll wanted to risk her life to help Octavia, as thanks hit her bravery for literally walking into a trap, twice. Octavia had an emotional breakdown near the end of the temple, and Aryll said this was the first time she ever saw her cry. After they left Octavia down there, Octavia, even though terrified, imagined herself with her friends, to get away from imagining her reality..
They were close friends. Who all shared an unbreakable bond.
