Lips immediately pull into a frown ... a scowl that ruins her poised mannerism. Not arrogant enough to shrug off a THREAT, nor would she, however, let it get under her skin. For the implications of his words held a truth she knew too well. Never one she would succumb too. She did not place herself on that scale. The double edge sword of the world of both demons and their slayers. The boy's gaze lacked any normal expression, almost emotionless, aside from the declaration in his words that translated in those silent, yet fatal, eyes.

She really hated people like him. Having the displeasure of running into a child with the title of Hashira. Who looked at her like she was the filth. Disgusting. The audacity to dare categorize herself as that. But being offended was almost a luxury right now, for she instead was too busy analyzing the threat. A challenge, or an eyesore. Risk breaking his arms or remove herself. The desire to shut him up, or the insatiable will to live. Running isn't a cowardice move, but the idea of it irritates her to no end.

“  Is that right? ” More PRIDE than rationality, any movement of departure resisting the initial impulse to leave. Brow twitches, unable to pull her sharpened gaze away. Brat. An irritating child with a sword. Too young to be a Hashira, yet he stands firmer than any slayer his age. Self-assured in the way he addresses her, and ... bafflingly dismissive to her as a threat. Yes, she really despised brats like him.

“  Humans like you have gotten too confident. It's truly sickening. Has no one taught you the importance of privacy. Following me around like prey, it's DISGUSTING. ” He doesn't get the right to look down on her. She was the one who looked down on people like him. Aim that sword at her, and she really will drop composure.

“  I don't have the care to play this game with you. All that high and mighty nonsense, from a child. Aren't you embarrassed talking like that? Maybe if creatures like you stopped talking so much, you wouldn't be devoured so often. It would save me the headache. ”

Because Laura is a picky eater ... as much as I vibe with messy devouring, a part of me vibes so heavily with refined dining. Cut into bits, using chopsticks, sick semblance of humanity in manner. It's not prepared at all, just chunks, it's still messy, but set up as if she's out eating dinner. Is it the victim's abode where this is conducted? Somewhere else? Is it only when she has the time, in more desolated areas, places she will leave. Is it a required practice for her, or just a nicety. It won't ever be because she enjoys eating. Every refined bite, as much as it appeases the ravenous hunger, is always met with. Disgusting. She is the worst dinner partner. Does she take bodies with her? How many. She often hunts one by one. Unless the crowd of people all have to go. If it's appropriate for her standard targeting. Fancy eating not because of the enjoyment of devouring, but because she is a refined creature. And if it's not set as such, does she even care? Is it done out of an old habit, that's enough to remain ingrained into her? If she eats with her own hands, covered in blood, and journeys on, does it contradict, or further showcases the separation of humanity despite mannerisms.

Laura seeing a human: ew. Laura seeing a demon: ew.

Yet another setting with Laura's obsession with water, but instead of plunging herself into the depth of water she is dancing across it under the moonlight. Laura clings onto parts of lost humanity, not because she believes it the right thing, but it's those fading memories of hers that keeps pushing her forward on her path as a demon. Ironic.

Inosuke had spent the better part of his life fighting for his own survival. Years upon years of a life amongst the wild beasts, the raging elements and the harsh realities of a lone existence had prepared him for the worst battles.

Except for a battle of wits.

"HAAAAAH?! Who are you calling a kid?! I'm a fully grown boar! And if my voice is such a weakness to you, then I'll just keep talking! I'll talk and talk 'til your head falls off, you dumb piece of trash! You should've kept YOUR mouth shut!"

Convinced that he had found a fatal flaw in the demon's defense, Inosuke adjusted his stance. He may be wearing nothing but the lower half of a uniform, yet his demeanor betrayed reflexes that he shared with the rest of his fellow Corps members. The focus of his breathing, muscles tensing, preparing a Breathing art unique to this odd specimen.

"If whining is all you can do, then you don't stand a chance, you worm. I'm the great King of the Mountain!"

He dashed forward, his stance kept low until his arms exploded upwards. Second Fang. A slash of each blade in opposite motions, drawing a large X into his enemy's chest.

KING OF THE MOUNTAIN. What childish dribble. The woman's scowl only deepens at the onslaught of names. Trash. Worm?! He was a noisy brat. Or a beast in his own right. Forget just breaking some of his bones to end this embarrassment, she might as well rip out his tongue instead. But Laura has little time to retort. Though she has no need to BLINK, she does as her expression shifts ( force of habit, ever expressive ) ━━ he was a lot faster then he looked. Arrogant little-

She hates the fact the slash of his blades misses narrowly. Flipping over the attack, using the stupid head of his to propel against. The wind at her finger tips more then enough to push herself over him, landing behind him with elegant steps. She almost sneers at the fact. This little rabid brat wouldn't know the meaning of etiquette.

“  You, obviously. I'm surprised your head can keep up with your annoying squabbling. Only your voice could make my head fall off. So stop swinging swords around, you might be a kid but you're still old enough not to play pretend. ”

Her stance does not change. Despite his hostility, she remains uninterested. If not peeved by his attacked. As if he had the right. The audacity.

“  If you're a boar, then go get eaten. ” It remains the same anyway. Adjusting the strands of hair which had fallen out of place, the DEMON scoffs, a single brow raising. “  If I have to keep listening to you, I'd prefer to drop dead. Creatures like you should be on a leash. ”

LEGS CROSS OVER, chin resting atop her open palm ━━ she doesn't raise her eyebrow at the implication, but lips twitch into a DRY smirk; it would have appeared playful, had her gaze not held it's usual disrespectful stare. “ Use some manners when you want something. ” Ooh you want to get eaten so bad.

Laura as a demon really does the same behaviour of being around when no one wants her to be -- but like it's on sight this time. So now she's just like a cat in the tree staring down at you / pathetic / and berates you while actively trying not to die.

MORE BACKSTORY INDEPTH

Keeping themes from her original verse as closely as I can. Laura's family was originally from GERMANY and moved to Japan just before she was born during the Meiji era. And I think Laura would have loved the stories of Samurai. Similar to her main story background, Laura was taught to be a perfect doll. She was raised primarily by her mother, who’s obsession with beauty and upholding their family name bordered toxicity. Laura spent her childhood within the walls of her own room. She was raised and punished as her mother had been, any defiance would lead to being locked in her room, anything more would border cruelty.

She met a boy who worked around the estate. In secret they grew closer, until she finally broke free from those shackles of her family and ran away with him. They were able to start a life together for a year and a half before her family tracked her down again. Unlike her main story verse, she had already given birth prior to the downfall.

Laura was not strong. Her body was fragile, she couldn't gain much muscle, and she had never been in a physical altercation before. But seeing her family killed in the chaos, to get rid of any evidence of her 'treachery', she snapped. She doesn't remember how. For the next three days she would sit unmoving in that house, tucked away from any town or village, as if she was dead.

When she picked herself up, the knife in her lap fell to the ground, and as she carried herself out of the house into the cold winter, she had no destination in mind. Until she came across the bridge. She'd stare down into the dark waters and wondered if she'd have the energy to swim up. If her lifeless body would allow it. If she had any need to fight back. Laura was already at deaths door by then herself. It was only Muzan's intervention that stopped her. Even then, it takes a moment for a spark to hit her. For the emptiness to turn to anger, as if she was broken from a long daze. She willingly became a demon in that moment of grief, as the fire in her veins screamed to fight.

She survived. Her memories, at the time, were still fresh. It's why she had immediately returned home. Not to her little house. But the large estate that welcomed her back without question. But Laura didn't waste a moment. Three days she spent in the estate after murdering every single person within. Three days she ate without disturbance. In those three days, she could scarcely remember the faces of her family.

She grasps onto surviving. Of purging all those who she deems rotten. To keep devouring and surviving, to be stronger, that no one can take away for right to live freely. But, even in that short period, she no longer recalls the reason why. She knows something was taken away by horrible creatures. By humans. She sometimes recalls a small baby in her arms. A man next to her. But she remembers her parents screams, and remembers the days she spent eating.

She won't eat children. But why is just a deep understanding in her, rather then recalling her past. Laura is a picky eater. For she will cast her own judgement. She will blend in with society at times to attend large gatherings held by the higher class. She will dance with them during the fall of night. And she will devour anyone she can drag away. She eats abusers, hired killers, drunk aggressors on the side of the street, high class humans who, good or bad, she views as pests. She has never been desperate to find humans to eat, and that only confirms her view on the world. Her bloodlust isn't crazed, it's targeted.

What an ill-mannered, ARROGANT brat. Expression quick to sour, as if she wasn't the instigator ━━ callous in her mockery, looking down upon him with an air of superiority. Oh will she now? This boarish kid should learn manners.

“  I doubt it. ” What little INTENSITY he held in his presence despite his BARK, no uniform to indicator the boy was qualified to fight let alone slay a demon. Nothing but those weapons of his. Those would be dangerous in the right hands. Instead, all Laura see's is a loud-mouth child wearing a stupid carcass. It's giving her a headache, it's entirely ridiculous. “  What? Will you cut my head off? Will you kill me? What a farce. Your voice is going to make my ears bleed. ”

The cracking of her fingers with each, irritated flex. She looks the boy up and down in distain. “  So quiet down. A kid like you such learn your place. ”

“  Don't be so conceited. Who said I was here for you? ” To have the arrogance. Laura almost scoffs, but instead it's left unheard, the sound lodged within her throat ... for her gaze had drifted to the side, lips pulling into a frown. What an aggravating look the woman was giving her. She didn't have the right. For she was a DEMON all the same.

A sickly human. That became her visual focus. This woman was a doctor; how ridiculous. Yet, this one doesn't go in for the kill. Doesn't mess around with the prey before her. They lay unconscious in their bed, blissfully ignorant to the monster beside them. It would have been cruel, but it's not hard to see what was really happening.

Just how OLD was this woman? Laura didn't pick up on any bloodlust from her. She really was just here as a doctor. Why? What a stupid choice. Lips curl deeper, disgusted ( yet curious ) upon realization.

“  Save the hostility. ” Gaze snaps back, as if insulted by the implications she can feel from the woman's unblinking stare. “  Neither of you would taste good. Even the thought is enough to make me sick. ” REVOLTING. Did she seem desperate? Don't mock her. But wasn't that the case with everything she ate, for there was nothing tasteful about eating trash.

“  So stop glaring. It's annoying. You're no different. So why act like it? Why pretend to save it. Let it die, or eat it. ” But Laura is TAUNTING. She knows already that it wasn't the case. It's what infuriated her. That, and the woman's scent. She was not like the others. There was something missing. THE TRUTH WAS ... Laura had come for her, and her alone. The moment she caught a glimpse, the second she caught that scent; too different.
