I think I did something with just about every one of my hobbies today, lol. read a little in the morning, practiced a tiny bit on the piano, did some mandarin study, and added a few words to the fic I’m working on. didn’t go to the climbing gym but I did spend some time on the stationary bike watching an old hockey game. good times

spent the weekend studying in cafes and taking long walks because it’s been warmer outside than inside my house. enjoyed a bit of sunshine because this spring has been very cold and even though the days are longer, it doesn’t really feel like summer is coming.

i'm continually surprised by how little my classes this term have in common. i guess that's the true liberal arts experience, but i still get whiplash switching back and forth between papers on TB antibiotics, gothic literature, and AC circuits.

i'm trying to take a break, but the truth is that it has become difficult for me to turn my brain off. submitting the thesis draft for my annual review made me realise that it's a complete mess and i need to do so much work on it. there's absolutely no cohesion or synthesis across the chapters. i am telling myself it's the 'ugly' phase.
