I already obtained my Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. I am currently studying and preparing for my LSAT and law school applications.

Well I’m a girl and I am a beautiful little fool, because I believe wholeheartedly that love does conquer all. I forgot about my blog and have been back for like .5 seconds and I've seen soo many posts about chat gps (I refuse to call it by its real name) in STUDY and ACADEMIA related posts and blogs. That is PSY-CHO-TIC

How absolutely pathetic are y'all. This chat gps is truly an infectious plague that needs to be terminated along with its cult. No really, because how is it that students and members of “studyblr” and other little communities related to academia are casually posting things like “I was talking to chat gps..." Are u not embarrassed? Do u not see yourselves? Do y'all lack self awareness? Get fucked and get bent.

I completely forgot about my blog- but I'm back.

Updates for those who were keeping up with me

- I resigned from my position at the firm - I took my LSAT in November but had to retest because there was ongoing construction at my testing location that was very distracting - I was unsatisfied with my LSAT score and will be retesting once again - I obtained my passport last year and got it stamped when I left the country to visit my family abroad - I also became a dual citizen!

Groceries I've been into lately. Notice the pumpkin spice. Idc idc that it's too early. August is fall in spirit. You can feel the melancholy and nostalgia of fall creeping in the air. Friday

My PCP doctor appointment was cancelled. How annoyinggg. I really need to talk to my pcp about a specific medication, and now I have to wait for rescheduling. Due to cramps, I spent the whole day resting and drifting in and out of naps. God bless those little heating pad patches you can stick on to your clothes.

Saturday

I took my mom to this cute little brunch place where we shared this big plate of biscuits with gravy and some mojitos. We sat at the bar since it was just us two, and I think the bartender was flirting with me a little bit- I didn't pursue it tho. We spent the rest of the day running tiny luxury errands for makeup, and other little unnecessary necessities.

Sunday

Dad wanted a cookout, so we had a cookout. I spent some time following up on my research while he prepped everything. My boss assigned me to research the Hague Convention after I mentioned my interest in international law because she needs to see how it ties in with something specific.

Monday

I slept in. It was gloomy and rainy. Surprisingly it wasn't humid, it felt nice and cool outside. However, I had to run some errands so I spent most of the day doing that, as well as prepping my things (and self) for the week. I'm working full time now. I only worked two days a week, and now I'm going in Tues-Fri. I'm assuming I have Mondays off because I spoke about it, since I have too many doctor appointments and need a designated appointment and errand day.

New habits I want to develope

Wake up before 8 A.M.

Only consume content that leaves some kind of benefit or positive/neutral impression on me

Be focused on what I'm doing in the present moment by developing better meditation and grounding practices

Move my body daily for at least an hour

Go outside and spending time in the sun and fresh air when the weather is nice

Become more disciplined by resisting the urge to indulge in distractions to train my self-control and discipline

Do tasks as soon as I can instead of procrastinating. Fight the executive dysfunction through positive frameworks (not shame)

Drink water before my coffee, and simply stay more hydrated

Learn to display my gratitude to/towards others

Go to sleep before 3 A.M.

Do everything with intention instead of staying in autopilot

Enjoy my time off and rest while I still have it

Discover and nurture my excitement for study through curiosity

Habits I've Developed:

Waking up before/by 7 A.M. for work (Tues and Thurs as of now, better than when I created this)

Have not exclusively consumed positive/neutral content, but have used the "not interested" "mute" buttons a lot more to get rid of negative content

Practicing grounding techniques such as asking myself, "what do I see, what do I hear, what can I taste, what do I feel?" while rubbing my hands on a textured surface or subtly wiggling my toes to bring myself back

Have not moved my body on a daily, but have gone on walks in the park with friends or mom, taken longer walks while running errands and taking the stairs instead of the elevator

Discipline had been a challenge, but definitely improving

Still working on the procrastination and executive dysfunction, but have learned how to prioritize tasks and asking for help

Drinking more water; placing water on my bedside table for morning me to wake up to (along with my vitamins and supplements)

Have definitely been using different variations of "thank you" and even presenting people with gratitude tokens

It's 2:52 A.M. as I'm typing this, so this is still a work in progress, but I've still made it work with a lot of naps varying in times

I find myself doing grounding techniques and have found myself to be more present. So grounding techniques do work

I'm still working on it- But how lovely is it to be able to work on these goals every day.

I was so exhausted on Friday that I slept through the night and most of Saturday. Work has been draining me mentally, emotionally and footically (not a word, but these heels are killing me lol).

I ran some errands Sunday and nursed someone through a hungover. Today was spent with a professional connection to establish a lead for a major event that I want to host for the organization I'm involved in and my therapy session.

I thought I was going to leave my therapy session in tears, but I think I might be processing through things a lot better than I expected because I didn't even tear up and I had some great introspection in the situation.

It is now 1:32 AM Tuesday May 20 and I'm waiting to be lulled to sleep by the severe thunderstorm that is going on outside my window.

Tomorrow's Agenda:

-lunch with mom during hour -follow up emails -follow up calls with clients re: evidence needed -complete practice lsat exam -registration

I mentioned being a legal assistant for a law firm specializing in civil and family cases- well this is a relatively small firm. It's the main attorney, her mom who works as a paralegal, her aunt/godmother who takes on office management and paralegal duties, and then me, working alongside them. This is a family family law firm. So naturally, the dynamic is a bit off, and even problematic at times- for me at least. I've already encountered certain issues at the firm due to this, and I'm waiting for my appointment with my counselor to help me navigate this in a professional manner while keeping things as nice as possible in the firm.

I'm so glad I decided to go back to therapy counseling

But gave up on the journal because I hate writing it out, and typing it out isn't enough.

What would you recommend to someone who is facing his last exam of this semester (i am graduating) but does not have energy for anything? :( I know, its my last, but Im absolutely not happy but scared and anxious... How to encourage myself? How do you do your last exams when finishing semester? Im sooo drained of all energy..

I remember my very last semester of undergrad.

It was awful- I was experiencing so much grief after I lost a pregnancy around May- during finals seasons of that semester. Then my last semester started (and I started strong), until I started to crash and burn. My depression and reality hit so bad I never left the apartment. Then during the last month I was on overdrive and received so much grace from my professors to redo certain assignments.

You didn't mention any serious life moment, but as someone that was dealing with so much at the time and still graduated, I hope this anecdote can offer you some comfort and relief to know that its possible.

You CAN do it, and you WILL do it. Don't think about grades, just do. Just focus on doing and completing your tasks. Don't aim for a "good" or even "perfect" grade. Just aim for the bare minimum. As long as you pass. This might seem like bad advice, but trust me, it'll help ease the stress and pressure. Once that pressure is gone, you'll be able to perform well.

For energy, don't do coffee. It's so dehydrating. Drink plenty of water and take naps if you can't do full sleep. And remember, once you're done with testing, the worst it over! Once you graduate, depending on what your plans are, you can sleep your days away and have very much needed rest and self care.

My boss had me on Pope Watch today. So here are my thoughts on that:

we do NOTTTTT  🙅🏻‍♀️ need a pope from the U.S 🙅🏻‍♀️ or a pope from Chicago 🙅🏻‍♀️❌or a pope from a place they named a "style of pizza" after 🙅🏻‍♀️❌🛑

But on a serious note, I do have some thoughts on this. When I saw the ceremonial robes and not the dressed down, humble white robes that Pope Francis preferred to wear, I knew it was over. I'm not even Catholic like that. I don't practice, but Pope Francis was a whole different type of pope and man. He made me feel proud to share a religion and ideology with him. So when I saw the contrast in their public image, it just made me feel like we officially lost Pope Francis and all that he worked and stood for. It left me with a longing sensation.

I don't like the idea of the US having a pope because we're already a superpower without such a crucial influence in the spiritual/religious aspect. But on the other side, I kinda like the idea that there's someone in the US with much more influence and power than the current pathetic excuse of a "president' that we have. Additionally, how great is it that our "vice president" has been talked down on by TWO popes.

I was just really rooting for cardinal Zuppi and having a Zuppi summer. Alas, c'est la vie.

I've been working at this firm for about two months now and the novelty is wearing off and the cracks in the work environment are showing, so that's fun 🙃 I have like ten open cases I'm handling as of now, and various leads as well as a new attorney I'll be shadowing.

The stress is a bit overwhelming in the moment, but I'm definitely getting better at compartmentalizing. I love getting in the shower and "washing off" the stress; picturing the stress is being carried by the stream of water and down the drain.

Something that's been upsetting me however, is the casual use of AI in the office. Obviously no one is feeding personal info to the system, but still. The office manager constantly talks about using chat gps to help her with emails. But girl- if you can't even draft an email on your own, then what are you doing handling our client's most stressful and low points of their life? Still Corporate 9-5 life and stress > retail/food life and stress
