Haikyuu!! Chapter 248: Disparity
Whoa Haikyuu’s new chapter is already up!
The title and the first page is pretty disheartening.
Oddly though, Furudate-sensei does not let us linger too much with giving us side stories. Is that on purpose? For what purpose though? Not to let our hopes up? Or not to let us worry? Who knows? I’ll just get myself prepared for either outcome.
Karasuno in their ORANGE AWAY UNIFORM!!!! (willingly gets distracted anyway)
Hopefully in the next chapter we have the lineup of the team in their orange glory, there aren’t enough of them all in this chapter. Though personally I still like Nekoma’s away uniform (cough Kuroo in white cough) XDD
PFFT, Hinata is a mandarin. For once, Kageyama’s nickname is spot on. But this chapter really, really makes me happy with so many first-years’ interaction, and in the most interesting combinations. Basically though, Hinata has successfully befriended all first years of the team, even Tsukishima. While Kageyama doesn’t speak much, he chooses to stay around his fellow first years. I cannot help grinning as I’m writing this and looking at those panels. Karasuno’s future look so bright with these four.
Ryuu! Kanoka! (RyuuKano? KanoRyuu? RyuNoka? TaNoka?) I’m rooting for you both!!! Young Ryuu and Kanoka are so adorable. So are their older selves. That’s such a good, healthy relationship there. (EnnoTana is still my guilty pleasure though ahahaha)
Is it just me or does she look a lot like Goshiki? Though I want to give her a high five for being such a good wingwoman for her friend.
This panel really, really excites me.
Is that a foreshadowing? I did mention that now Hinata has seen the actual jump, he has a better idea how to do the jump. He nearly does with Kageyama’s lackluster’s description (the pitiful use onomatopoeia or so what Hinata said, his dry, unimpressed tone really sticks).
This exchange is interesting. Miya purposefully approaches Kageyama and then makes a jab to Hinata. I think he recognizes Hinata as Kageyama’s partner. He is wary of Kageyama, so naturally he is also wary of Hinata, and wants to nip them in the bud, if possible. But nope, it doesn’t look like it works. Somehow Miya reminds me more of Oikawa than Kuroo. With more arrogance though. I might be reading it wrong.
Good job defending your BFF (or BF, whatever your pick), Kageyama! Really, I think there’s no one else has as much regard to Hinata as Kageyama. I imagine he already has a high standard in the beginning, and yet Hinata manages to meet it. He moves it higher, and Hinata still meets it. Somewhere along the way, he stops putting limit on Hinata.
Lastly, poor Daichi. I cackle at the last face he makes. Keishin makes such a rare expression too.
While I know that Karasuno’s dealing with a tough opponent, looking tougher than Shiratorizawa especially, but seeing so many of the starters (Daichi, Tanaka, Noya, Hinata, Kageyama, Tsukishima) calm and unaffected (with nervous Asahi, which means business as usual for Karasuno) does work wonders. So we’ll just wait and see?
