The Librarians 3x07 And the Curse of Cindy
Sorry I have been MIA lately - back at work and life got busy! And we start our episode with an innocuous gate to a big house with lots of people milling about. Then there is a blonde woman peeking out behind a tree - a honk of a truck provides the suspicious woman with the opportunity to walk in. The people she meets her are spaced out teens. And we find out the woman is looking for her daughter Lindsay. Not so innocuous after all. The teens are on drugs and so are the adults. Maniacal laughing and the woman finds Lindsay. Lindsay says some woman named Cindy needs her and that she will stay here forever. The teens line up as if it's a red carpet to greet Cindy and the shadowy silver figure is pretty menacing. And Flynn leads our team out to investigate the magical cult. Ezekiel Jones reads the Inquisitor. Flynn is a bit exasperated by this. The security guard immediately lets them in when Flynn says 'we are the Librarians.' Lol Jake doesn't get why it works for Flynn and not him. It's all in how you say it - ie an incantation which Jake is a bit alarmed about. Every day Cindy allows a few of her followers to live with her... why am I thinking that Cindy eats the winners? When Cindy emerges, I'm a bit shocked. She is just a dorky teen. Cindy spritzes herself - the perfume guys - the perfume is the artefact. Crew selection is over for the day and Flynn has followed Cindy in. Is he acting? Or is he a follower? Jake is quick to point out that it's not a cult because there is no beliefs. It is just an infatuation. The crew split up. Then we see Cindy crying alone in a room watching a reel of her from what looks like a Big Brother type show, where she is excited to have found real friends. Eve and Cassie use flower vases as a way into the mansion. It works! They are in. We hear Flynn making a confessional booth. I'm guessing Flynn isn't faking. Flynn went out the other exit. Cindy has some old lady forced to make something with her out of a vial. Meanwhile Ezekiel and Jake are out to the statue - it's getting nothing. No magic present. Perfume guys! Then they spy a military truck go into a barn. Ezekiel manages to get in. An armed DOSA escort forces them out of the barn! Cindy needs to get some vial ready - as she cries. What is up with her? 'Never again' she says. Cassie and Eve are looking for Flynn. They find a chef working on a scientific experiment. A food physicist. Who gave her his whole house to Cindy as a sign of adoration. Hmmmm wacko alert. The chef is having a meltdown over Cindy's request for mac and cheese. Ezekiel and Jake are now taken to Cindy - will they be able to resist her magic? Cindy enters after spritzing herself - its the perfume guys! Jake is totally enthralled. Ezekiel is not. How is that the case? He keeps saying that he recognises her from somewhere. Jake is flouting the poetry on her. Ezekiel is clearly not affected. An Aphrodite project - Cindy's interest is piqued. Ezekiel can't stop Jake from spilling his guts on the Library. Eve enters and kicks DOSA's ass. Jenkins opens a door and Eve manages to get the boys through. Cassie tries to figure it out and Ezekiel videotapes the boys tied to the chair. Cindy demands three cannisters of the 'stuff.' Jenkins is on to something. Eve smells lily of the valley on Ezekiel - aha! Told ya - it's the perfume. Jenkins explains the love potions are not actually about love but obsession and arousal. The sun flowers in ancient times symbolised unrequited love. A wild pack of beliebers- yup. Obsession potion didn't work on Ezekiel because he is too obsessed with himself. Someone is helping Cindy. Chef kitchen is the best place to rustle up a potion. Jenkins needs a full sample. Jenkins puts a foul smelling stopper on their noses to dull their olfactory senses. Eve and Cassie breach the barn's defended to find a missile in place. Cindy wants the whole world obsessed with her! Short range missile from DOSA. Cassie confirms 24 hours from now the Easter seaboard will be under her spell. The old woman is clearly the witch. Jenkins may have an antidote...? The boys are cured of their obsession with Cindy but are now obsessed with each other. They now lean flirty towards each other lol bahahahaha! Cindy is back crying and watching herself. She collects her tears in a small vial. The old woman says she was forced into servitude. The secret ingredient is the tears of the one seeking adoration. The old woman locks our girls in the fridge. Ezekiel watches Cindy on TV. He recognises her. Cindy confesses that she was going to kill herself. Ezekiel says that he doesn't need other people to believe himself. Cindy tries to convince him that she will be happy one day. Ezekiel confesses that he grew up poor and picked on. He became a thief and he wasn't happy. Whatever he stole he always needed to steal more. Ezekiel points out that this is not love. Ezekiel is sure that he can get through to her. He bursts the perfume all over them and they turn into angry jealous violent rabble. The mob grab her and hurt Cindy. Ezekiel is a hero and saves her from her followers! Cindy confirms that she didn't want this. Magic corrupts. She says she is going to stop the missile launch. Meanwhile our girls are still stuck in the fridge. But they don't need a man to save them! Girl power. Cindy wants to stop the launch but they won't listen to her. The old woman has hijacked her missile launch! Cue the evil cackle. Eve throws the water on the floor and... I'm confused... somehow the men are obsessed with the old woman. The doors open to reveal Jenkins with the antidote! My hero. The woman who was possessed by APEP. Ezekiel and Cindy share a moment. Ezekiel confesses that it's important to know who to love and when you find the right people to love they can make it better. Cindy kisses Ezekiel and I think he is a bit overcome. Cindy looks happier. Now Ezekiel shows the boys the video tape. Lol APEP wants to spread obsession and that would start a whole big problem. Ezekiel and Jake have a moment. Jake tells him that it wasn't his self-obsession that stopped the potion from working on him. Jake and Flynn have pretty healthy egos too after all. Why is that? Because Ezekiel already had feelings for Cindy...? He had a thing for her already. Thats why it didn't work. Meanwhile APEP is back in his sarcophagus to re-charge in the DOSA artefact collection. Ba ba bow wow.

The Librarians 3x05 And the Tears of a Clown
A sepia flashback of a well-meaning girl out with a male friend, who clearly has a crush on her and low self-esteem. She goes to watch a magic show and he takes that as complete rejection and abandons her. This is despite the fact that he actually hasn't said or done anything yet to show the poor girl that to him it's a date. Man! I'm frustrated - girls aren't mind readers. I'm guessing this small imagined slight is what makes him into a douschebag as an adult... Flash forward - Iowa and Sean Astin is dressed as a magician and holding the hand of an unconscious girl as she is led away on a stretcher. Yup. An angry man appears and yells at him to get lost. The magician informs the angry man that they will be friends. Everyone is friends here. Coz that's not at all menacing. Whammy magic and suddenly the man is forced to juggle at tornado speed. Yup. Douschebag. Camera pans across a seemingly innocuous carnival. Jenkins is eating popcorn and searching for Miss Cillian. Clearly our team is missing. And the clowns appear to be the carnivals' menacing muscle. Jenkins looks at his phone and re-watches Eve's video which tells him to stay away and not come after them even as two clowns close in on her. Not good guys! These clowns have masks that are seriously scary too. All the ride attendants are zombies - welcome to the greatest carnival on earth. Jenkins hasn't found anyone yet. A locked door means he pulls out a lock pick set, 'And thank you for the Christmas present Mr Jones' - aww. Jenkins is surrounded by the menacing clowns who are growling. Jenkins grabs a random kid and pretends he is his nephew to get away. Then the kid proves to be a fount of info. The kid clearly isn't going anywhere. He assumes Eve is Jenkins' daughter - awww. She kinda is. The kid proves that the carnies are zombies. Only the clowns will come after you. Jenkins observes the clowns answering to our Sean Astin magician. They are flicking through some photobooth pics. Jenkins grabs one and see Ezekiel. Jenkins: 'I presume you were raised on electronics.' Boy: 'yes I was.' Best exchange. This kid is a delight. The people in the pics look weird. Something very bad happened here - understatement of the century. Jenkins tries to get the kid to leave to keep him safe. He actually manages to scare him enough to leave. Go Papa Jenkins. Looking around an empty stage Jenkins pulls a chord-!!!-and find Eve with two heads. Like two separate heads. Then the lights on the stage go on to reveal: Muscle man Jake, Snake charmer Ezekiel and Mermaid Cassie - all chanting, 'welcome to the greatest carnival on earth' like the other mindless carnies. Not good!! Can I just say Cassie is a beautiful mermaid. Jenkins gets Eve to breathe in something stinky and it brings her out of it. Eve's second head is a bit horny. The gang is out and Jake is pushing Cassie in a wheelbarrow. ' Are you ok, Cassandra?' He asks and all the fan girls sighed. Cassie sounds a bit dolphinesque. 'I'm never eating sushi again.' Awww! I feel Jake's irritation stems from his worry over Cassie more than anything else. Ezekiel can't stop the flute playing. Jenkins says that the guy in charge is either very powerful at magic or very new to it or worse - both. I'm guessing the magician will prove to be both. Meanwhile their disappearance has been noted and the magician is throwing a hissy. The clowns appear to be mute and totally cow towed to the magician. The clowns are coming and Jenkins suggests that the strong man Jake do some heavy lifting. He throws a couple of dodgems 59 block them. As soon as they enter the Annex they return to normal. Yay! Meanwhile Charlotte the poor girl from the sepia flashback arrives and the magician has a flip out. She doesn't remember him. She is wearing a waitress uniform and she says she can't miss her shift. The magician refuses to allow her to leave, which isn't creepy at all. He is trying for mysterious and not quite pulling it off. Creep. Stalker. Run girl!
Meanwhile back in the Annex, the effects of the transmutation on our gang is real. Jake’s muscles hurt. Cassie is guzzling water like a fish. Ezekiel is missing his abs. Eve wants to go back and Ezekiel wants to know if Eve kep the righ thead. Jenkins offers them memory loss elixirs and down the hatch! It tastes awful - a hangover in reverse, with colours that don’t exist in real life.
They went to visit the Jane Doe at a hospital - open sores on her hands, perfect manicure. She was wearing a ring with a unique symbol. A coveted award for a law firm - the girl gave up a high paying job to work at a carnival. They met the douschebag Magician. He likes waving his cape around. “Two heads are better than one,” he says with enigmatic presence. Policemen were physicaly pulled into the house of horrors where the magician turned him into a clown. Clowns are bad. Got it guys. Cassie is laughing hysterically at a mirror - concave, convex. The magician can do whatever he wants. More power in one person than Jenkins has seen in a long time. Not good. Not good at all.
Jenkins is feeling sensitive about Eve warning him to stay away. He thinks it’s because of his lack of field experience. She tells him that’s not it. He needed to be ok for the coming battle against Evil. Jenkins agrees that her logic is sound but assures her that there is nothing that would stop him from coming after her. Awww! Loving the Jenkins’ development here. If they were two other people, they would have hugged right there.
There is no information on the internet. Cassie noticed the unique awesomeness of the magician’s cape - Jake chimes in, Fabric of the Gods. Only one company made it for a Kirby Goulding. Up until 6 months ago he was terrible. The terrible man became great overnight - an artefact. Jenkins swears that the artefacts are all here. Why does the artefact have to be ancient? Ezekiel asks. Good point, Ezekiel. Magic is back with a bang after all. Jenkins produces some artefacts to get the people out of the carnival. The new artefact they are looking for needs to be an object of emotional signifcance to the creepy Kirby. His wand? Jake says. Too obvious. I’m going with the prize Kirby won way back when in the sepia flashback for Charlotte.
Cassie comes in with bags for them all containing, not magic (as a nod to Jake’s unwillingness to use magic) but whimsy. I love how Jake looks at Cassie. Of course they go for it - they are now dressed as punk funky clows and fairies. It’s girl/ boy teams to search for the artefact. The boys sneek into the cabin - The magician has kept his old high school yearbook. He kept pictures of them all - serial killers keeping trophies except he calls them “Special friends.” The boys run into trouble and lose their magic finder scope thingy to the crazy clowns.
Meanwhile, the magician is trying his darndest to hit on poor Charlotte - whose instincts are telling her that he’s a creep - but she can’t seem to get away. He takes her back to the same game they were playing in the sepia flashback. Eve and Cassie are observing the two of them and Cassie wants to know why Kirby hasn’t put the whammy on her yet. Eve points out that he has feelings and Cassie looks confused but attempts to pretend that she saw it to. - Aha! So she can’t see Jake’s feelings for her! Eve explains that 80% of communication is non-verbal. Nervouse - run fingers through hair, adjust clothing. Intrigued - raise eyebrows. Smile. Cassie is impressed. Please tell me that this will come up when she and Jake next interact!! Please, Please! Cassie wants to know if that is how Eve knew that Flynn liked her. Eve says, “No, he sent me a note - do you like me? Check yes or no.” Cassie calls that a classic move. Oi! Jake will have his work cut out for him.
Eve wants to know who the girl is. Ezekiel and Jake confirm its a Charlotte Holloway - same name as the Jane Doe in the hospital room. Kirby sent out gold tickets to all Charlotte Holloway - when they are the wrong girls, he punishes them. The magician flips out and Charlotte tries to leave again. She realises that she can’t leave the crazy man. He says ominously tonight after the ascension the carnival won’t end ever. Not good - he is planning on sending the carnival into a new dimension.
Charlotte is crying - not great. She is tied up to a chair and he’s attempting to have fun with her. Man, he is crazy. He wants to her affection to be real. Ezekiel and Cassie suggest that it has to be the wand. Jake is annoyed - he said that ages ago. He is so delusional he doesn’t even realise that the wand is where his power is. Eve and Jake take out the clowns. Ezekiel and Jake take the place of the clowns. The magician wants her to laugh. He makes the two men physically hit each other - how is this funny, crazy dude? He makes them try to kill each other. He says that the friends are dying to entertainment. Cassie is working on freeing the woman.
The gang just make fun of him. They have wrongly assumed the wand was the artefact. Guys, it’s the prize he won 20 years ago! Just saying.
He is going to turn them into a permanent part of the house of horrors. Jake corrects the magician’s quote from Hamlet. Aww! Charlotte still can’t remember him. He made no impression on her at all. Cue the rant about how badly done by he was by the poor Charlotte. Yup, he be crazy.
Charlotte can’t even remember. A huge emotional response - 1996. It is all the same except the flower on the lapel. Charlotte remembers Kirby Goulding now - maths together. So far so good - she is saying all the right things. Charlotte points out that they can’t be friends again - because he is a psychopath. A quick game of keepings-off ends with Ezekiel throwing the flower into the plastic pit - or faking it and Kirby jumps in after it.
DOSA is on the scene cleaning up, taking notes. Looking confused in their suits. The special friends board is still there though, with photos of our gang. Charlotte reminisces - Eve says ‘absolute power corrupts absolutely.’ Cassie makes a comment about magic “nothing more powerful than magic” which Jake takes issue with “except knowledge” - of course. Back at the Annex, Jenkins places the cheapo flower in a new warehouse under a glass case for storage. They now have a new wing for new artefacts...
OK, so here’s the kicker about Jacob “No Personal Bubble Around Cassie” Stone and Cassandra “My Shoulder Must Touch Jake’s At All Times” Cillian:
This is from season 1, episode 1. They just met. This one out of a few things that makes me think that the connection between them is instantaneous and natural. See also:
This is Stone protecting her after Jones starts to ask if she’s dying. He doesn’t know her well enough to dive in, but he’ll make sure Jones knows this was *not* appropriate.
This is Stone giving Jones a hard time after he makes fun of Cassandra. The joke was about picnics and assassins, but this is a warning to all: Poke the tiniest bit of fun at Cassandra, and Stone. Will. Come. For. You.
And finally, this. This is not Stone steadying her, or helping her up, or seeing if she’s OK. This is Stone catching her. He’s close enough to notice when she’s about to fall and runs to catch her. It doesn’t even feel like falling because he’s there as soon as she stumbles.
This is Jacob knowing her well enough to coach her through the seizure when they only knew each other for a few days. It’s sweet, and best of all, completely realistic for the two of them.
I love this so much
It was always supposed to be Luke.
Yup. They are magic
The Librarians 3x04 And the Self-fulfilling Prophecy
Crystals? A cave? What am I looking at? 'Go back!' Eve screams, sweat on her brow. She seems to be coming to as is Ezekiel and Jake. What is up with the Librarians?? They are wet and Eve is clutching an hourglass. She doesn't know why though it looks familiar. Where is Cassandra? Phones are fried. Ezekiel remembers pizza and anchovies. Jake looks at the smoky quartz but hasn't seen it before. He remembers some amazing garlic bread. And the place has a cleaning lady - 'ola' she says, before Eve looks to be in enormous pain. She hears something and it's not good. She remembers there was pizza. A real Egyptian pyramid hidden in a fake vegas pizza... Eve wants to head to bath and bed but the guys refuse. They are acting cagey. Something's most definitely up. They are worried about Eve being lonely because Flynn is off doing his 'gone thing.' Sigh. I love these guys! 💗 Eve swears she is fine. Eve wants to know why they left her a compact mirror. They didn't. They suggest it was Flynn? Ezekiel took coins from an historical site which makes Jake mad. Can I just say that I kind of love that Cassie and Jake are sitting next to each other in the booth?! 😊 then the lights go out and everyone stops moving. Ominous. A flash of lightning. And a guy in black holding swords. Creepy. He is moving. They are not. He gives Eve a box and an hourglass - seen that before - and says creepily 'Eve Baird. tonight.' Before he disappears in a flash. They all saw it but no idea what it was about. Jenkins says the creepy guy is a vengeful ancient deity called the Reaper. Now I'm officially worried. You ever sees his face or escape his clutches. The box is a prophecy cube. The Reaper is summoned by a magic user to kill other magic users and he has been sent after Eve. You have until the sands run out and then he will be back. Now we are back in the cave and the Reaper is down there with them. They are looking for a way out and now there are extra people down there with them. The principal, cleaning lady and a student are all from the same school. The principal wants a recap but Eve says it's ok, she did the recap already. The principal challenges her right to being in charge. Of course. Mayfield High - Eve has seen the swimmer before from the clippings book. Now we flash back again to the Library and the team is spit balling who might want Eve dead. It's kind of a long list. Whoever summoned the Reaper is very powerful and he can't leave until he kills. The prophecy cube was made by the oracle of Delphi. And Jake knows stuff. Prophecies are self-fulfilling if you see the future forecast. So Eve risks it becoming self-fulfilling by watching - it happens in the library. Jenkins swears that the library can't be broken into by the Reaper. Eve wants to leave. Ezekiel finds a clipping for Mayfield High. Eve keeps calling Jenkins Skippy - I'm not sure I like it. The Reaper is able to get into the weird cave thing and he stopped in front of her. Ezekiel calls him Mr Stabby Fingers. Jake figures out where Cassandra is. Yay. Heart sigh. Cassie hates high school. Go figure. They meet the principal and there is a lot of coincidence here - too much good luck going around and they are all on the swim team. So now they are in the pool - the water is giving off crazy readings. The kids has heard about the legend of parnasus. An awful lot of magic in the goggles- a future...? Cassie went back to the Annex. The sound of the Reaper sends them running until white hands pulled them into the water. Now Eve is back in the cave and finds a magic door. Then a wall falls between them separating them. Two doors and luckily the principal speaks Greek. One door goes to the exit and the other leads to certain death. Jake, Ezekiel and the swimmer end up in a Zeus challenge, risking being zapped by lightning. Step on the wrong square - zap! Gold will lead the way. Ezekiel has some gold coins - but he doesn't want to give it up. Now we are in the Annex and Jenkins is analysing. They both head back to the pool. Not good. They follow Ezekiels little thingy and find the prophecy cube no 2 in the pool. Eve picks because she can't die yet. Jake gets Ezekiel to use his coins because he loves himself more than gold. Cassie finds two ways to break a self-fulfilling prophecy - that's good news. The boys are making their way across the stones and meanwhile the principal bonds with Eve. The future telling goggles set up both sides to fight each other. Not good. The groups find the weapons rooms. Ezekiel is convinced that Eve is Zeus in disguise. The swimmer points out what the self-fulfilling prophecy - Jake figures out the same 2 ways to break it. He and Cassie think the same. 💗 Jake refuses to open the door without a black eye. Cassie uses the prophecy cube to see the oracle of Delphi to prophesy her own death. And Jake opens the door and it gives him the black eye - lol. Nina - the cleaning lady - she knew what prophecy glass was. Is she the oracle of Delphi? Yup. And just like that she transforms into more confident self. It's her prophecy cube. She put the hit on Eve. And she is in the library already inside the prophecy cube. Ba ba boam. The only way to prevent her death was to sick her Reaper on Eve. She has been bathing in the pool and infused it with her power. Parnasus - Delphi water - self-fulfilling prophecy. So long as she stays wet she lives, hence she keeps schwitzing herself. Eve is pretty important - the future is important - her destiny denied - very powerful. Just dry out this witch? Throw the blue cube out of the Annex - Eve whips out the mirror and taps the message out in morse code. The skippy cinches it and the cube ends up in Australia. She is dry so that witch is dead. The Reaper lives. Ezekiel does a great 'shrimp on the barbie' thing. Excellent. Drinks all round at the pub. Jenkins reveals that the mirror was not from Flynn. It was the answer to Eve's question - who guard the guardians? The mirror was the answer - the library guards the guardians. Awww!

The Librarians 3x03 And the Reunion of Evil
We start this week with the snowcapped mountains of Sweden and then some chanting, which turns out to be Cassie practicing her Swedish. And sigh! Cassie and Jake are off on a “nice, normal artefact retrieval.” And Jake isn’t happy that Flynn left this up to them! They are off looking for a crystal steeped in magic. Cassie has recalibrated the goggles to help them figure out which formation they need to take back with them. Jake accidentally leans against the crystal they are looking at and it’s a LITTLE bigger than they intended. Ezekiel is chillin’ on his phone. Eve is ready to bark some orders at him to help him reach his potential. She has set up booby traps and plans to blindfold herself and get Ezekiel is supposed to guide her but - big surprise! He’s already out of here.
Cassie and Jake are disagreeing about the use of magic. Aw! Is Jake worried about Cassie using magic? Jenkins is looking to build a new incubator since the last one is overheating. Ezekiel Jones is being told to step up - the egg of the Loch Ness monster! Nessie asked Jenkins to watch the egg while she dealt with problems at the Lake - lol.
Suddenly Jake and Cassie are under attack and the guy is wearing a balaclava. Jake goes all muscle man to protect Cassie- love it. Then Cassie uses her time alone to use magic to confuse the consciousness within the crystal. “Damn it, Cassandra, I told you-” Jake says. Before Cassie gets stabbed by the crystal and Jake is rushing her out of the mountain to get her back home. A mysterious village appears - and they head straight for it. Probably a bad idea!
Jake says he has to “get you home” to Cassie. The main hall has people with name tags who stare as the two librarians enter. Not suspicious or uncomfortable at all. No phone and no reservation - there is a private reunion. Jake points out there is a huge storm. They are having none of it. Jake pretends to be Finkelstein - Cassie uses the goggles and see that every normal person is actually a demon in disguise. Cassie is freaking out. Jake doesn’t know what’s going on but is trying to go ahead with it.
So, is this your girlfriend? they are asked. “No,” they reply in unison, “No!” Aha! We don’t believe you, guys. Cassie pretends to be his sister. The demons talk about ripping off people’s heads who are interlopers. Cassie is forced to orientation. Eve is wearing goggles and rugged up - she is going off after Cassie and Jake.
Ezekiel meanwhile put the egg on top of a bunsen burner. Jenkins is worried about leaving the egg with Ezekiel. Nessie only lays an egg every 100 years. If the egg doesn’t survive, Nessie will be angry. Jenkins fires up the door and the ice comes pouring in.
The festivities include drinking, gaming and pathological one-upping of what they have been doing for the last however many years... Demons are funny when they catch up. Jake hasn’t given anything away just yet. “Hollytoffle” - a norse name for a game. The ceremony is too important and they leave their magic at the door... Cassie is still pretty freaked. Jake is faking his way through the games.
Cassie finds herself comforting a female demon about Jake but winds up getting hit on by the female demon. Olaffsson demon has specialised in plagues. Cholera is delightful! A phrase I never thought I hear said in this show. What is your favourite natural disaster, Jake? Huh? Global warming. Woh! The demons are impressed. Brutal, they agree. Cassie needs to find Jake and clue him in.
Meanwhile, Eve is still trying to hack her way through an ice wall. Ezekiel is now hugging the giant blue egg. I’m reminded of his time with Stumpy. “Don’t worry, you are going to stay nice and warm.” Cassie gets followed into the bathroom by the female demon. The ceremony involves the consuming of the crystal - you know the crystal that’s now inside Cassie’s heart. Cassie’s heart starts glowing immediately. Not good! The demons used to fight each other to get their hands on it. Now there is a problem. Jake is drunk and thinks he is making the best of a bad situation. Cassie shoves the goggles on Jake and pushes him out the door to look at them. And now Jake is on board! Cassie’s chest glows and Jake’s eyes focus in on Cassie’s chest - and she actually moves his chin up to meet her eyes - lol. Cassie thinks that they should use magic - Jake does not.
Ezekiel was tracking weather patterns on his phone all day, which was actually not him goofing off. The storm that is affecting Jake and Cassie came out of nowhere. Not good so they check the appointment book that had the notation. Meanwhile Cassie and Jake are arguing in the closet about magic. Jake is convinced that magic is bad. He doesn’t want anyone to get hurt. Cassie says that no one has gotten hurt. Jake says, “you did.” Cassie tells him that she is not fragile. She is just trying to make the best of a bad situation - phew! Tempers are running hot, guys, and I’m loving it - Jake says, he doesn’t think she’s is fragile. He thinks she is too smart to be this reckless. Jake says they have to brace the storm. Cassie disagrees. Jake puts a huge thick scarf around her. Not everything needs to be solved with magic, he says as he says the magic words to make the point that her chest is not glowing anymore.
Frosty... Jake realises who they are. They aren’t demons. They are Frostgiants - Norse Gods. Their most famous ancestor, Loki. I’m familiar with Him. These guys have segued into the mischief business. Weather control capabilities. Jake and Cassie are trying to get out of the bar. But just as they get to the door they see the men bringing in the crystal. They are going to partake in the angerbote crystal - it re-grows every 600 years. Cassie and Jake are trying to escape but the real Finkelstein shows up. Interloper! A false Finkelstein. Jake tries to shift blame to the other guy. All of them get seized and Cassie has lost her large scarf.
The head guys has known them for 10,000 years - Olaffsson. The real Finkelstein actually does have a sister - Jake does quite well at faking the questions. 150 years ago - cholera outbreak - Jake does amazing at faking it. How long has we been friends? And here is where Jake loses. Finkelstein and Olaffsson were never friends. They end up fighting. Jake and Cassie start running but it’s not looking good.
Ezekiel wants to know if the computer will track magic. DOSA - do they have military grade tech that tracks magic? Jake and Cassie - the Librarians - they announce that to everyone else. They let everyone know that Finkelstein was trying to take the crystal on his own. Cassie said the real name of the crystal and made her own chest glow in front of everyone - bad!!
Ezekiel is now carrying the egg in a baby carrier on his chest. Ezekiel thinks he can narrow it down to locate Cassie. The egg was the last thing that Cassie used magic on. Cassie and Jake communicate with their eyes. Jake effectively tells her to use magic to set him free because he trusts her. Jake defends Cassie - a cute moment when Cassie rushes to him.
Ezekiel is talking to the egg like it’s a baby. “You’re doing great. It won’t hurt a bit.” Eve wants to get her guardian on but the connection is unstable. She can’t go through. Cassie is following jake up the stairs as quick as possible. They lock the doors with an axe. Jake tells Cassie to go. She says, no, we go together. They run toward the window. It moves. They run back towards the elevator. Jake and Cassie jump down the elevator shaft and into the Annex.
Ezekiel is now rocking the egg like it’s a baby. The Frost Giants now declare the truce is over and the village disappears. Jake has rope burns. Ezekiel is smiling at the egg like a proud mama - Aw! Cassie has to pass the crystal - ouch! She wants to know if Jake is still mad that she used magic. He looks a bit put out by the question. Cassie make the point that they step through a broom closet and end up in Sweden. Magic is a part of what they do! It can’t be all that bad. Jake says, he knows that. He’s amazed by how much she’s learned and what she can do - this is a big Jassandra moment, guys - but it’s the not-bad parts that make people think that the bad parts are not that bad. Yes, magic got them out of trouble today but it was also what put them in it. Cassie says, Point taken. Jassandra smile - sigh.
Ezekiel declares, it’s happening. The egg hatches and a baby nessie is born. It imprints on Ezekiel, who is grinning like a proud mama. Awww! Another cute moment for Ezekiel.
All in all a great Jassandra episode - the friendship is building up nicely. Let’s get some momentum here next week!
