I’ve been waiting for this.

their relationship is one of the sweetest in the entire movie and one I feel is HEAVILY underrated!! the scene under the bed with Antonio is one of the first times we see mirabels character behind the act and her empathic nature shines! Antonio is the cutest child and the way he’s so soft spoken and scared in that scene 💔 you can tell he really cares about mirabel but is still ultimately scared to end up just like her. One thing to note is how he says “I wish you could have a door” not a gift a door. Implying he wishes she had a room that wasn’t the nursery because she’s always been there. Mirabel wants to protect Antonio and shield him from her own troubles. We see how easily she brushes off his concerns about her “you don’t have to worry about me” and she reassures him. She completely puts her own self doubt and worries aside to focus on encouraging and comforting Antonio. It’s also worth noting antonio is the only person who’s known mirabel post ceremony! the others all have been to her ceremony and know exactly what that night meant. But not Antonio. He never had that expectation for her but he sees how others treat her. Antonio loves mirabel and I think he finds so much comfort in her because she understands what it’s like to not live up to expectations! I’m sorry I love their relationship so much like we need to talk about them more! they’re so wholesome I was crying at parts!
