do you have any tips or thoughts on finding a balance between making creative art that speaks to you + conveys a concept and making more artworks, faster, due to the social media pressure to post often?

I honestly don't think this pace is healthy for me (don't take me as an example) i don't sleep much, I already have a day job. I skip meals and when I'm focused on a piece I only drink coffee. I have this weird obsessive need to complete a piece, it's a state of intense focus...which feels fantastic you know ? It's me, the drawing, the music.

But I've been trying to take breaks. Go to the gym. Sleep a bit more. I just feel like there's a car engine inside me you know ? A powerful Ferrari engine, and I'm the car, and it's driving at full speed but the brakes are broken and it's not easy for me to "pause" (im working on that) so my advice ? Outside activities, learn to take breaks, dont rush perfection. Draw what YOU want, not what others want from you.

I do feel pressure yeah. Pressure to draw, pressure to be quick, to...deserve the amount of people following. I know i shouldn't but when im not doing anything I sure do feel guilty 😶 my social accounts are big, and i think to myself "wow these shoes are too big for someone like me"

I feel inadequate. I realized in the last year that the super duper artist i wanted to become is already there. People look up to me and I feel like a fraud because I didn't think of myself worthy of compliments. It's not even fake modesty because i value the skills I have, I worked for that ; but at times I watch my following and i have a full meltdown, I want to hide in a corner...because it's too much isn’t it ? I tend to panic like that.

Now, i certainly don't want to say I'm forcing myself to draw or that im unhappy. It's always a pleasure to create but in my case, it tends to exhausts me. Sometimes. Swear to god im working on that.

Perhaps this Anon ask is a good way to remind im still a real person with strengths and struggles. (And bad habits !)

I just couldn’t resist drawing another piece of fan art inspired by @frenchublog 's character design. In their latest post, you can see full-length shots of James and Elizabeth, but I haven’t updated their outfits because the sketch is from two days ago and I’m feeling a bit lazy. 😭 Maybe it’ll be an excuse to draw them a third time

i love how creative you are with your color choices, theres so many different colors and hues and yet they all work/fit together. Do you have any tips for choosing colors in the expressive way that you do?

With pleasure ! In my headcanon, they fight against a mythical creature (they don't necessarily win, they get away with their life intact, small victories) James loses his eye and Elizabeth gets burnt.

Now the funny part, the wounds are cursed so whenever Elizabeth is feeling high emotions, they light up. As for James, he is more collected, has more control over his emotions but I can see flames escape from his eye socket :)

I believe it truly would be intimidating to run into The Black Swan in the dark and see scars light up; all her enemies would literally piss themselves in fear lmao. It also adds to the legend (the navy would probably call her the spawn of the devil, but then she would collect a lot of nicknames)

Also, walk with me. James Norrington, beating the shit out of someone, his eyepatch gone. The last thing his enemy would see are the flames spitting out of his socket. The traitor, The corrupted soul, The Hound.

I really love that last nickname because to me it's a callback to his previous career as the scourge of piracy. "He'll obey; it's what he does"

In the end, he's always been a hunter but if I could add more nuance : he didn't chose piracy, he swore allegiance to Captain Swann, who happens to be Pirate King. This is where his heart truly lies.

However, because the internet is a ruthless place for ladies, I never really cared about putting my gender out there. Plus, I never thought it was revelant, I'm an artist and that's the important part.

Some people think I'm a man...tbh, I get less bullshit that way. (I've seen how people speak to women online who have hobbies. Not a pretty sight.)
