i’m getting a bunch of notifications from this blog today bc someone somehow found my fic rec post from 6 years ago (which i still stand by bc i worked so hard on that and i’m not sure how aware newer fans are of livejournal and johnheartpaul and just, 00s mclennon fandom lol) so hi hello, i should use this blog to write meta drawing comparisons between the beatles & beatlemania and bts & their phenomenon bc that’s kinda what i’m hardcore into rn lmao that would save my twitter army friends from having to read long threads about the beatles but then i would come here and burden you with long posts about bts 😗

Charlotte Gainsbourg & SebastiAn | On ‘Songbird in a Cage (ft. Paul McCartney)’ (x)
When the Beatles split Lennon used [Yesterday] to chastise his former partner in the lacerating ‘How Do You Sleep?’ “I felt deep pain,” McCartney says now. “Stick it in the jugular, why don’t you, John. The funny thing is later I heard that he didn’t write that line, that John, Allen Klein and Yoko were sitting round together and someone came up with that line. But it was very painful, a bad period, there was a lot of deep messages in all the stuff we did then. I was really writing a lot of songs to John. Then I got this great story, in one of the last interviews John did, where he said this guy brought him a copy of ‘Coming Up’ and he was, like, ‘Bloody hell, Paul’s on to something – better go back to work.’ You better believe I love that story.”
Paul McCartney, Independent (Nov 15, 2001)
While in Almeria, John was visited by Juan Carrión Ganán, a forty-one year old teacher of English from Cartagena who regularly used Beatles lyrics in his lessons for university students. Since first hearing ‘Love Me Do’ on Radio Luxemburg he had painstakingly written out the words to each song. However, the Beatles had recently been using less familiar language, and his notebooks were showing more gaps, guesses and question marks. Hearing that John was in the country filming, he determined to meet him and to ask him to clarify the words of the songs. He took the bus from Cartagena to Almeria and managed to find John on the beach playing a ball game with Michael Crawford and showed him his notebook and those of his students. John graciously filled in the spaces and corrected words that he’d misheard. For the lyrics to ‘Yellow Submarine’ John took appropriately coloured pens to inscribe the words ‘Yellow’, ‘blue’ and 'green’. For 'Eleanor Rigby’ be wrote out key lines in red pen and underlined words such as 'dirt; and 'darning’ that Ganán had been unable to distinguish. In an asterisked footnote he explained that the 'jar’ kept by the door was a 'pot’. He said he thought it was a great idea to teach the English language through the songs of the Beatles and autographed the notebook to Ganán with the message 'Good luck with the English’.

Hey guys! As you might’ve seen on the news, or on the rest of the internet, or maybe even on a post or two on here, my home country of Venezuela is going through a LOT right now, from an incredibly corrupt government to daily riots that often result in the deaths of innocent people who are just fighting for freedom to the fact that people can’t even get common necessities like toilet paper and food, Venezuelans are in a very tough situation right now.
Which leads me to this:
TEMPORARY PROTECTED STATUS (TPS) FOR VENEZUELA
This is a petition to The White House requesting their consideration for allowing Venezuelans Temporary Protected Status. TPS means that Venezuelans can have a legal status in the United States, they can get work authorization, social security, drivers license, etc. This would be a tremendous help to Venezuelans who are fleeing the country because of the horrible situation in Venezuela.
The petition needs 100,000 signatures by August 27th, 2017 to be sent to The White House and be processed by the approriate office.
If you could possibly sign the petition, I’d be eternally grateful. There aren’t many things being done to help Venezuela at the moment and this is one little thing that you can do to help a whole group of people who really need it.
Please signal boost if you can!
i know a lot of you don’t give a fuck about latinos issues, but venezuela may or may not be entering in a TOTAL dictatorship tomorrow, and i’m so fucking angry, i’m so sad…i’m not venezuelan i’m argentinian and i’m so angry because we can’t do shit to help our venezuelan friends we can do nothing to help the people from venezuela we can just PRAY that everything will okay and venezuela can kick maduro’s ass out of their country, so CAN YOU [THE REST OF THE WORLD] JUST HELP US, LATINOAMERICA, PRAYING FOR VENEZUELA??? please, i’m losing my shit out here because i don’t have not a single way to contact my venezuelan friend and i’m fucking worried. sorry for swearing i’m really freaking out
Fifteen people died in riots yesterday (July 30, 207) alone. People are literally starving to death, not because they don’t have any money, but because there simply isn’t any food in supermarkets across the country. The shelves are completely bare - no food, no water, no toilet paper, no nothing.
This isn’t a political crisis anymore. It’s a humanitarian crisis. And it pisses me off that people don’t care about it as much as they would if this wasn’t happening in a Latinamerican country. You KNOW this wouldn’t have gotten this far if it was France, or the UK, or Canada. But because the people suffering are Latinos, the global community doesn’t give a shit, and that directly leads to people dying.
#listen I’m Colombian and the horror stories we hear about what’s going on at the border chill me to the bone#please do whatever you can to help Venezuela
do you know of anything those of us living in north america or elsewhere can do to help? if not that’s totally fine it’s not your responsibility at all, just wondering since you are a lot closer geographically to what’s happening than i am.
