“You should have seen the look on the servants at Highgarden when Mini first brought Winter to the hall. I’m lucky to have not been too close to a dragon before. I hardly ever make it to the capital, so I can’t judge for myself.” his smile continued to stay on his features. “Winter is nice. Very large, but nice.”

“That’s where you’re wrong.” The younger Tyrell mumbled, reaching out for the blankets to pull them further around himself. Loras had very little intention of leaving his chambers for a while now, particularly as he struggled to make his way around them. The order had been given for nothing to move. For no furniture to be adjusted, no new things brought in. And still he stumbled in the darkness, his golden legs bruised by desks and bedstands and chests as he’d struggled to find his way around. “I’m staying here for as long as I want.”

“Am I?” Willas questioned, letting his gaze rest on the bed sheets for a moment. He felt powerless. He had no idea how to handle the situation presented to him, which was a rare occasion. What he wouldn’t do to see his brother smile again. The smile he had adored when they were still young. “Don’t you want to feel the grass beneath your feet? The weather is nice today. We could go for a walk in the gardens?”

“Direwolves are harmless if you’re good to their owners. They’re fiercely protective of them, as I’m sure you’ve already found out.” Rhaenys smiled, clasping her hands in front of her. “The servants in King’s Landing took a while to take to the direwolves, but I doubt they’ll ever stop fearing the dragons. Too unpredictable.”

“I’ve come to learn that. I’d even say Winter has warmed up to me, which is.. fortunate.” he let a smile play on his lips, reciprocating the emotion the princess was giving him. “I’ve heard from my sister that dragons aren’t as bad as they seem. At least the dragons she’s been close to. I’ll say I’m lucky to never have been in proximity to one in order to judge it myself.”

“Hawks and horses, even hounds, I can deal with.” An exhausted sigh left his lips as he slid a hand through his dark hair. “But having a direwolf, albeit sweet and harmless, took a bit of getting used to. I wonder what would scare the servants most; a dragon or a direwolf?”

‘—-what did I say about not waking me?” Loras snapped at the intruder to his chambers. Truthfully, he’d been awake for hours. Or he thought, at least. Though the world was darkness, he could feel the warmth of light on his skin as he sprawled his legs across the silks of his bed. He just didn’t want to get up. He couldn’t get up. Couldn’t bring himself to drag his body from his bed and carry on.

“I’m afraid my word trumps yours, my dear brother.” Willas replied the barking words from his brother, who was still in bed. Seeing him as a shell of the boy he once was, truly hurt the older Tyrell. He waved for the servant who had drawn the blinds to leave the two of them alone, and he took a seat on the edge of the bed. “You will need to come out of your chambers eventually, Loras. You can’t hide in here forever.”
