slackerphilosopher:
“Yeah, he’s probably had a lot on his mind and all.” Well there might be other reasons he didn’t want to answer his sister’s call, but Henry didn’t know anything about any of that, just that things had been kinda intense at the Goodman house lately.
It was oddly nice to know that she had faith he’d look after Natalie. Maybe it was just reassuring that somebody else thought he was good for her. “She’s pretty good at taking care of herself, but I’m there when she needs me anyway.” It was also nice to have her actually talking to him again. “I think she’s been doing better.”
“He always has.” She’s the wild child, the one who could never stand still, but her brother’s mind works just as quickly as hers — he just has less of a tendency to act on impulse, and more of a tendency to choose jobs where he sits in one spot. “I don’t blame him — but I figured he needed some support.”
She can’t say that she ever really liked Diana; the other woman had seemed to feel threatened by Rhonda. It was something she’d never understood and had tried to rectify, but even she has to give up on some things. “That’s good — that’s great. I figured I’d invite you guys out for a week in the summer, if you wanted to go — I’ve got a spare bedroom and my couch pulls out into a bed.”
