if someone had told xara twenty four hours that in the near future, she would be lying in bed after spending a night with nick fitzgerald, she would have slapped them silly for taunting and playing with her emotions –– yet here she was, not long woken up, head resting on the male’s bare chest. xara could feel his heart beat, she could tell it was racing and the female couldn’t help but wonder if she was the cause of that. her mind rewound itself to last night, after the male beside her asked her to stay –– the pair ended up kissing and although the guilt constantly ate at her, they didn’t stop until the early hours of the morning when they fell asleep. as awful as her behaviour was and she was very aware that she needed to tell her current boyfriend the truth and end things with him, xara hadn’t been this happy in so long, no one would ever make her as happy as nick made her, she just wished that it hadn’t taken this long to realise. as much as she loved jaxon, as much as she so desperately wanted him to replace nick in her heart, she knew that he wouldn’t. nobody ever would and it was time to stop pushing him away. “good morning, baby.” she whispered back, voice still hoarse and groggy from her screaming last night. intertwining her legs with his, xara giggled and looked back up at the male. “it was perfect, i haven’t slept this well in so long.” she admitted truthfully, hoping that nick would understand that she meant the last time that they were together. “i’m hungry, though. can we get breakfast?” xara pouted in the red head’s direction before continuing, “but can we order room service? i look and feel gross and i also don’t wanna be snapped by the lil’ paparazzi people that follow you around considering i haven’t broken up with jaxon yet.”
no matter how hard he tried, nick always found himself succumbing to temptation when it came to xara palmer. perhaps he was weak, in that sense, or utterly determined to satisfy himself in the present, but.. it was a pattern. a habit, if you must. he very well knew he should stay away from his ex, especially when she was still with jaxon. he could feel every tingle upon his skin each time her eyes took him in, every trail of her gaze, every spark it lit up beneath his skin. and the guilt remained at bay, but still present, as he took her in also, daring and confident beneath the facades of a mask. last night was a dream, to say the least. an intoxicating dream that he never wanted to end. a dream he never thought he’d ever see again. as he finds himself in her arms once again, he can feel something like adrenaline coursing through his veins at the mere sight of her. the effects of their kiss last night consumed him enough to entirely distract him from every external problem or ordeal or worry occurring in their life at present. even jaxon. enough to mesmerise him, caught up in whatever chemistry filled whirlwind there was between them. though they shifted along dangerous territory last night, a feat that could’ve very well ended up terribly wrong, nothing could distract from the feel of her lips against his. it was almost as though they were bulletproof when they were together. “ what a concidence. i just had the same thought. i guess that makes us what ... soulmates, huh ? “ a widespread grin instantly eased unto his features, laughter filling the air as he pulls her up into his arms, happily surprised by the positivity and happiness that radiates from her. frankly, it was contagious. as he manages to lean back and capture a glance at her features, he can’t help the amusement that overwhelms him. she truly was one of a kind. “ xara palmer and room service. am i actually in heaven ? ” he beams, intertwining their legs before glancing up at her with utter bliss. light conversation ignited from familiar laughs and, above all else, a light air between them. how he’d missed this. “ you already know that i’m down for that,” reaching over to grab the menu, he props up the contents between them before turning back towards her. “ do you think it’s too early for a few mimosas ? i feel like it would be stupid not to celebrate, “ another laugh is emitted from his lips, peering back over at the menu. at her next comment, he couldn’t help but roll his eyes. one thing that never failed to surprise him was xara ever thinking of herself as gross. he found himself slightly more comfortable to joke around with her now since their newfound reunion. “ you know ... one thing i didn’t miss about you ... ” arching his brows at xara, nick can’t help his lips as they turn upwards, utter amusement filling his core as he bumps her side with his own. “ ... is that you actually believe that you have the ability to look gross. ‘cause babe, i’m telling you right now that you could never look gross. if we’re being real, i think you’re part alien ‘cause you’re freakishly beautiful. it isn’t normal. i mean, who could look absolutley stunning while screaming at the top of their lungs ? funny enough, only you. “ what was nicolas fitzgerald’s purpose in life if not to remind xara that she looked gorgeous at every waking moment ? he knew he was lucky, in fact, he still couldn’t even believe that he landed his dream girl. at the mention of jaxon, nick’s smile altered into a tight line. “ yeah, of course. anything, “ he assured with a light squeeze of her hand, momentarily averting his gaze away from her. “ hey ... can i ask you something ? “ he posed, glancing back over at her now. “ were you ever in love with him ? “ @siirens
