as of today, i am officially placing this blog on a HIATUS. i decided to choose between each of my ocs ( lauren, evie/eve, & pav ) & unfortunately, i think i find myself improving far more as a writer when i spend time on the latter accounts of the three. those blogs will be on a semi - hiatus anyhow, but i felt i should post here to say that my activity will be even lower, if not entirely non - existent. i may check in on here every once in awhile, but if you deem it fit, feel free to unfollow ! if you’re still interested in writing, you can more than likely find me actually active on liz or any of the other accounts listed.

       she unravels him effortlessly. he can feel the strings being tugged from his stubborn hold with each passing second stuck in this little BUBBLE of theirs — this quiet moment carved out just for them. he knows he’s already STOLEN too many of these precious moments — surely he has no right to claim another? hands that have participated in violence and death and CHAOS have no place tracing along features of a face that holds so much LIGHT in it. he’s not used to it — normally confident movements become UNSURE as his head dips towards hers, lips hovering for a moment to allow her time to come to her SENSES and move away. but for some reason gavin can’t COMPREHEND….she doesn’t. he’s no novice to kissing, but as his lips brush against hers hesitantly, he feels almost as if it’s his FIRST. there’s no desire to manipulate her — nothing he wants to GAIN from this kiss aside from getting to briefly possess something soft and SWEET in his anarchic life. it’s more innocent than he’s used to, and for the first time in a long time he feels like GAVIN and not the GOLDEN BOY persona he has built around himself like trusted armor.

             he smiles to himself. the white sauce has thickened and finds its way over penne pasta on two plates. he places one down before lauren, and one at the place across from her before hands offer a cheese grater and a block of parmesan.     ❛   cheese, miss ?   ❜     he plays the part of a waiter, lips pulling back in a quiet smile. if only they could stay in these quiet, blissful moments.

        the meal before her is more than enough to place her in high spirits ( or, rather, far higher than the ones prior.  seemingly impossible, but if anyone were to bring about such a feat, it was sure to be spencer ). laughter dances about the air upon falling free from her lips, a most precious response to spencer’s actions. within seconds, lauren’s expression becomes coy.  hues of brown drift from her companion to the cheese & back again. ❛  yes, please -- as much as you can possibly spare. ❜

         gavin’s world wasn’t PURE — he was convinced there would never be that “happily ever after” ending sentence to the story of his life. there was too much BLOOD and VIOLENCE staining the pages, and what place did those have in good endings? and yet here he was, mixing his chaos where it shouldn’t be — namely that of the woman before him. he’d known her for months now, but had known the at the first collision with her that she was TOO GOOD for him. but he’d allowed himself to willingly get sucked into her bright atmosphere, content to hover around the edges to cause the least damage while still soaking up some of the sun. the friendship was somehow easy — she was able to coax out the better parts of him that he thought had long since been buried. he wasn’t sure what he contributed back to her in turn if anything at all, but gavin had always had a bit of a SELFISH streak that kept the worry from seeping through and tearing the whole thing down. it’s why she’s in his apartment now as he shuffles through takeout menus inside the drawer. ❝ alright, think i got it narrowed down to two finally — so chinese or pizza? ❞ he asks, finally poking his head around the corner and waving the papers in her direction. ❝ you’re the final decision, so make it count. ❞

      ❛ oh, gee, ❜ remarks silvery tone, palms resting themselves just atop her hips all the while. it’s then that brows proceed to contort the upper half of her countenance, leaving them fixed in what appears to be thought, an indication she takes the assigned task quite SERIOUSLY. lauren must admit she’s rather grateful her companion is even offering her a choice seeing as dinner had been meant to be homemade. whilst love hangs from every word that falls from her lips & drifts about her every move, the meal was to be prepared at by hands of a woman who spent weeks trying to get the recipe just right. prepared with drive, dedication, determination. meant to be impressive, surely, but the ingredients she’d purchased being smashed along the subway tile due to careless teens was anything but. shoulders’d hung low the entirety of the ride to his apartment, lips painted into a frown even once upon his doorstep. fortunately, the other’s mere presence was enough to be rid of her embarrassment & perhaps even her shame, but not so much her GUILT.        ❛ you know i don’t do well under pressure ... ❜ really, she doesn’t, but latter seems a mere jest for her mind’s already made up.  ❛ ——— but ! we couldn’t possibly go wrong with pizza, right ? so i think i’m going to have to go with pizza.❜

      ❛ no, yeah, definitely -- you’re right. i’m actually ... apprehensive about how to go about disciplining, not really my strong suit. it makes me nervous that i’ll, um, i don’t know, say something that might negatively impact him. something would make him hate me. ❜ while the concern is entirely genuine, lauren doesn’t falter. instead, she merely sighs & places a palm just under chin. ❛ i would say teach me, but you saw what happened when you tried to help me with dancing ——— a lost cause ! ❜

“ i didn’t hear anything that time either – ” and there’s a pause before she says, “ i’m joking, but really. you’ve gotta’ come up with a way to overcome aidan’s cuteness. i’d suggest screaming or something. be loud. ”

     ❛ you know me, carmilla -- i don’t mind . ❜ delivery is genuine, just as much so as the simper that soon creeps upon her lips.  ❛ besides, there is not a soul better to compete with. in fact, every time i look aidan, i’m reminded i played an awful large role in his cuteness. he has my cheeks, see ? ❜ she’ll gently squish his face & then her own to demonstrate.

              he’s always chuffed whenever he can coax those beautiful chimes from her lips. she understands him despite never having been in his position — a warm presence makes its way to his shoulder and he can feel her breath; it paints a smile. he knows she’ll always be in his corner, and whether she knows it or not, he’ll be in hers. the spinach and tomatoes mix with flour and cream to make a white sauce and he’s nearly ready.     ❛   you’re the best,   ❜     he smiles, sending a gaze sweet as HONEY in her direction.     ❛   okay, sit ! let me plate this up and we can eat. ¡ siéntate, bonita !     ❜

     his response is enough to expose pearly whites in all their glory. ever bashful now, it seems, as visage finds sanctuary behind dainty palm. doesn’t remain long, for soon she abandons his side & settles amongst the humble table set placed just right of the kitchen. optics remain trained upon him -- the young woman is very much enthralled. it’s then that lauren acknowledges the ambiance that hung about, as it appears to her rather ... simple. a rarity, these days. lips part to release a serene sigh, waiting patiently all the while.

              scarred fingers take the tomatoes and he plants a quick kiss on her cheek before he turns his back again to chop the tomatoes and toss them in a pan with oil. basil, parsley, and spinach find their way into the pan and delicious aromas start to permeate the air.     ❛   it’s just —   ❜     he sighs and shakes his head     ❛   i can’t sit behind a desk every day — i’m not built to sit.   ❜     he gives a chuckle as he shoots her a look, to see if he’s made her laugh.     ❛   i’m just used to being up and out and doing… THINGS, you know ? now i just sit behind a screen and see who needs which… whatever where.   ❜     a sigh and a few more ingredients fall into the pan.

      chaste kiss brings about the most wondrous warmth to her cheek. she’ll smile easy, an expression that comes about most often in his presence. lips proceed to part not a moment later to give life to  the sweetest laughter as lithe form proceed to leans against the counter, listening intently. lauren finds it rather relaxing to hear his voice when watching him work.  ❛ i know it’s not .. what you’re used to, and i don’t doubt this has been tough, but i know you -- somehow, some way, you’ll be back to doing what you love. ❜ despite the circumstances, her belief in him never falters. ❛ but for now, i will bet on ... ah, just about anything, that you’re the best seer of “ who needs which whatever where “ ever. ❜ a reassuring palm lands upon his shoulder, chin soon resting atop.  ❛ and, of course, the best chef.  ❜

                so long as she can protect and care for this ray of sunshine she’s blessed enough to call best friend, sophie is happy. she returns the embrace with a tight squeeze.     ❛   you ready to head out ?   ❜

       ❛ ready as i’ll ever be ! ❜ lauren leans back then, reaching for the small bag that had rested to the right of her feet. a newfound sense of vigor places the most prominent pep - in - her - step as she hums a tune or two, all whilst approaching the door.

      head falls & rises into a nod languid in nature. a most forgiving smile tugs at once parted lips. body language alone clearly indicates his apology has been accepted. she’ll proceed to do a quick scan of the fridge so as to avoid assuring the other only to discover otherwise. fortunately all worry soon subsides, for within seconds a bag abundant with the item in question is plucked from the fridge. ❛ here you go. ❜ dainty digits pass them off with a simper. ❛ why don’t you tell me about it ? your day, i mean. ❜
